I had a backed up bathroom sink full of black gunk and a dishwasher leaking out water. It was a sunday so I knew that it might be tough to get someone to come. Found roto rooter on line and they are 24/7 which is great. Repairman came promptly as promised. He was very professional but wasn't able to complete job because of equipment. He made a phone call to have someone come to complete job. The second repairman didn'tcome promptly but did eventually come and finished job. Again he was very professional and everything is working beautifully this morning. My one quibble is that he gave me a gallon of maintanance liquid with the implication that is was free, great! but in ensuing email it clearly is listed as part of bill at $54! I would not have spent that much on it if given a choice as job came to $460, which already stretched my tight budget. Overall my experience with Roto Rooter was a good one.

Everything went smoothly. The toilet bowl leak was an easy fix with the replacement of an $18 part. The work took 10 minutes. Guys were fine. I gave it 4 stars not 5 because the cost came to $270+ & that's with a $40 coupon. Since I know nothing about plumbing, I know I'll pay for my ignorance every time.

This is my third time using Roto Rooter and I definitely recommend them.

They have excellent customer service and the job was done really well.
First time i called them was due to a clogging in the shower, they snaked out the entire drain and haven't had a problem since.
Second time i called them was due to another clogging, but this time was due to tree roots in the main line to the sewers. They got rid of all the tree roots without a problem.
Today, was the third time i called them, due to my shower not being able to turn off. they changed the stem and now it works flawless. They even got rid of the squeaky noise!

I recently used roto-rooter to repair a leaky tub faucet. I enjoyed how they gave you a smaller time frame of arrival than most other home service providers and constantly kept you informed by calling you the day of the service and when the plumber was on his way. The only downside was that they arrived about 1.5 hours outside of the window they had given me.

The plumber diagnosed the problem but did not have the correct spares in his truck to fix it so he scheduled someone to come by the next day after providing me with a quote for the service.

The next day the plumber arrived within the scheduled time frame and fixed the leaky tub with 2 hours (he had to go to the store to buy the spare). The payment was easy and automated.

I would use them again for their professionalism on the phone and also in person by the plumbing technicians.

I called roto-rooter based on the great reviews I read on yelp. I recently had a leak in my apartment that did a lot of damage--the result of poor plumbing repairs before we bought this apartment. When I had a sudden problem in my bathroom (not associated with the leak), I wanted to call a recommended company to take care of the situation. I called roto-rooter. Two guys walked in. Quoted me $409. It seemed very high, but I was concerned and probably paranoid. They guy told me he knew within seconds that my problem was minor but rather than tell me this BEFORE he made me sign the agreement, which was aggressively shoved in my face within minutes of walking in, he told me this AFTER. This is where roto-rooter lost my business forever. I understand big companies can walk a fine line between profit and customer service usually falling to the profit side of things. This person had a choice. He could have been frank and said, if I charge you $409, I will be ripping you off. Then roto-rooter would have had my business for life--including the thousands of dollars of repairs for the plumbing repairs we are facing. But they didn't. In fact, they had a very rehearsed speech about how they only work for the company and aren't responsible for the set prices. So they earned their $100 per minute and left me a ""bottle of cleaner"" to treat the pipes monthly. It was a big bottle. After they left, I picked up the bottle and it was completely empty. Figures.

An indoor swimming pool is always nice that is if it's planned! We recently had a new sink installed but that unprofessional (supposed ""contractor"") did NOT connect the sink properly and today my husband noticed a significant amount of water under the sink (he wasn't happy when I originally told him I wanted to go through what was under there... He was happy I made him purge those items today though!). I don't like it when there's the possibility of my kitchen turning into a swimming pool. So being the person that I am, I came here, to Yelp! looking for a REAL plumber. I read the reviews for the Farmingdale, NY location and was cautiously impressed (I trust no one) so I called and Hank #3364 came to the rescue relatively quickly. He explained to my husband what that ""contractor"" did, bought a new pipe, and installed it. So, I am happy to report no new indoor swimming pool in my kitchen and hopefully there never will be one either! BTW, Hank didn't have a plumber's crack. I might not have met him, but I was watching via security cameras.

Mom called for service to repair the trip lever assembly on a Kohler toilet.
The technician Eddie, was very prompt, neat and knowledgeable. However, he did not have the correct part to complete the job. Since Mom wanted the repair done ASAP (expecting the arrival of guests) Eddie used the generic part Mom had previously bought.

Mom was satisfied with Eddie's work and professionalism but felt the ""service charge"" was a bit pricey. He did give her a senior citizen's discount but $200+ to change a toilet handle/lever? And yes Mom was at fault for rushing to have someone come out without first asking how much a service call was.

Other than the price, everything was good.

my 3 family apartment building (Elmhurst, queens) always had problems with the plumbing... and it happened again yesterday - the third floor shower backed up. I called Roto Rooter, and from the original call, the requesting a specific technician to come (PADDY - he is the best), to followup call and the official diagnosis - very professional, thorough to take care of the situation (and patient to walk me through the situation), trust worthy and accommodating.

I highly recommend Paddy (or Patrick) - he came to my personal home on a separate occasion and was very knowledgable, took care of the situation and was very professional. Ultimately i look for someone i trust (because you never know), and he was the one!

Thanks again! - Elmhurst, Queens

The Roto Rooter free estimate is a joke. The fellow they send over looks at the pipe and says well the only way we can tell if there is an issue is if we do the service itself at $409 dollars. If they know that the only way to find out if the pipe is clear is to snake it why do they go through the ""FALSE PRETENSE"" of a free estimate? I will never use this service company again. I recommend that you do not either.

The way these guys operate I am convinced that they work on a commission basis. Whatever you do...don't do what I did. Research the area for a firm that will give you a real estimate.
This is criminal.

This is the third time I have used Roto-Rooter in a plumbing emergency. I can state that this is a responsible and professional business. Today, Pat, Technician 7368 responded to what I thought was a leaky and slow running toilet. However, Pat quickly found that the sewer main was at fault. After numerous passes through both lines the problem was solved. I must add that Pat was very knowledgeable and offered many tips for dealing with such maintenance issues. I highly recommend this business to anyone with a plumbing issue. By the way, he cleaned up the entire area before leaving.
