Overlooked these guys in the initial search because I figured they didn't serve Manhattan because it felt like such a suburban brand. However, after getting stood up twice by Columbus Plumbing I gave them a try.
Glad I did.
Aris came and gave a free estimate. He was extremely friendly, and offered a number of options to address my problem (new sink, plumbing didn't line up). He did a fantastic job. I watched every step of the way and asked questions with regard to code; he was never annoyed.
It was pricey, but I feel like I paid for piece of mind that it's not a fly-by-night setup.
I will absolutely use these guys again and ask for Aris directly.
I had a sewer back up in my house on a Sunday 2 hours before a guests were arriving for a party. Rotor-Rooter answered the phone promptly and had a plumber at my house within an hour. During that time they called me twice to give me an estimate on their arrival. Once he showed up he went to work and quickly solved the problem and my party went on without a hitch. They aren't cheap but when you need emergency service and a job well done I would recommend them highly. Ask for Steve he's terrific - polite, efficient and cleaned up after the work.
Wendy S.Wow! These guys are incredible! My regular neighborhood plumber is the one who called them in once the job got too big for them (they had to dig out my whike sewer). Competent, professional, and courteous, I can't say enough good things about these guys. I had a collapsed sewer line (ouch) which is a nightmare; once these men arrived on the scene they took care of everything: they had the permits in a heartbeat and began work right away. My crew worked twelve-hour days, not even stopping for lunch on some days, and we're amazingly professional and thorough. They made an unpleasant experience much more pleasant by tackling the job so heroically and getting it done both quickly and perfectly. I saw some low reviews on here and that's so different from my own experience with Roto-Rooter that I had to say something. I'm very impressed, and would recommend these guys for any type of major plumbing work.
Joy P.Great service. Very professional, timely and honest. Gave me pricing before getting started (which was a bit high) but when it's late at night and you need to use the bathroom - worth it. Would definitely use again.
Dan C.I live in an apartment in a large building that was very well kept for many years until a few years ago when the family that owned it sold it to a typical Brooklyn slumlord. The result: no service and a superintendent released from the Bronx Zoo. So, suddenly one day the bathroom sink water doesn't drain properly, and as it tries to drain, filthy water comes up out of the drain in the bath tub. The landlord, when notified, blamed a member of my family! Can you believe it? And nobody from the landlord's office or building staff came to check the situation out. They did nothing about it. I ended up hiring a tenant lawyer who issued warning letters and finally I called Roto Rooter. Ricky came immediately. He ran a very narrow snake into the line and almost instantly pulled it out along with...get this...a piece of fabric measuring at least 17 inches long. He did an excellent job quickly, gave me advice, cleaned up, and my problem has been solved.
We used them before to blow our pipe, and that was a $400+ job. The problem continued, but we were told someone has to come with a camera to see what was wrong with the pipe to see what the problem is. For us to receive an estimate-JUST AN ESTIMATE-they wanted to charge $450. My husband told them they lost his business.
Terrible, terrible. They do not honor their word; say they're coming within a two hour window, not true at all. Still waiting for them to come; ended up just canceling and going with another company. Avoid this company like the plague.
Prepare to cancel your entire day waiting for a plumber who may never show up. They give you a 2 hour window. 15 minutes before the end of that window I'm told it will be another 45 minutes. After 45 minutes they tell me it will be another 45 minutes as they now ""have a plumber free who can be on the way."" Wasn't he already on the way? He's already late. When you have raw sewage leaking into your basement you have no option but to wait but you can forget about your work day or any other obligations you have. Horrible!!
Samantha Y.Our kitchen sink was having a major issue, thomas was right on time. Very clean, neat, quick and made a bad situation into an pleasant situation. Highly recommend him!!!
Erik E.I had a clogged kitchen sink after a house guest tried to grind too much cabbage in my Insinkerator without enough water running. Tried snaking the drain myself with a small, manual snake; no luck. There was probably an accumulation of food and grease over the years. I called Roto-Rooter (Brooklyn) and asked how much they charged to snake a drain. They won't say over the phone, which is annoying. But it was Christmas night and I had house guests and I was leaving the country the next day, so I had a technician sent. He showed up at about 10 p.m. (good) and said it would cost $409 to snake the drain (yikes). I said the guy on the phone refused to divulge the price; the tech said, ""I don't know why they do that!"" Well, they don't want to scare off potential customers, of course.
The tech was very professional and spent more than an hour trying to clear the drain, but couldn't. I rescheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. the next morning, requesting a tech with a longer, thicker snake (75 feet long, 3/8 inch thick). He came at 1:30 p.m.; my brother-in-law dealt with him, as I was at the airport. The tech recommended replacing a section of pipe and the total would be $750. I suspected the pipe connection had nothing to do with the clog but told my brother-in-law to use his judgment. The tech spent more than 5 hours but eventually cleared the drain, flushed it with pressurized water and put in a new nipple or something; negotiated price was $650 including my $40-off coupon from the website. I've used Roto Rooter three times in 10 years. Generally I find the technicians competent and polite but the service is expensive. However, the quoted price is the price you pay no matter how long the job takes or what holiday or time of night it is. I would have felt stupid paying $409 for a 10-minute job but I had a feeling it would take longer, based on past experience, and it did. So I guess I got my money's worth.
