Recommended Customer Reviews
Steve B.Initially friendly and responsive. Overall, finished in a timely manner. Terrible at keeping appointments and communication about the project. Took multiple phone calls just to keep the project moving along.
Ridiculously overpriced. They wanted $9800 just to replace about 20m ft. of ABS pipe, no digging required. Then, they wanted to send a separate team for minimal clean-up ( which they exaggerate the extent of ) and charge fee of $2000. Total of $11,800 for a job that took 3-4 hours and involved minimal materials. EXTORTION! Feels like a scam and borders on criminal. Took multiple requests for basic documentation, i.e. invoice, contract. When the job was finished - they just left without reviewing or doing final inspection to ensure everything was working right and ensure customer had confidence. Their attitude seems to be that if they are satisfied, that is all that matters; communication with the customer does not concern them.
Dont Use Roto-Rooter in the Placer county area.
If you do, make sure when they tell you there are roots in your lines that you get a second opinion. If you make the mistake of using them, Video tape the pipes as they are removed and make them prove to you that there are actually roots in the lines. There foreman will come out and exploit the situation knowing most people are not plumbers. They will tell you exactly what they are going to do, will write the contract vaguely and than will try and continue to charge you thousands of dollars to do repairs that are not needed, but he led you to believe would be fixed in the initial quote. I feel for those who get taken advantage by this tactic.
1. Make sure you get a second opinion. No matter what.
2. Watch them take out the old pipes, inspect them, take pictures and video.
3. Ask them to show you the roots they removed.
4. Ask them to itemize your estimate and make sure every thing the foreman
tells you in the initial conversations are in the actual contract.
5. Lastly, never use Roto-rooter!
Amazing men and company! Mark and Darin from Roto-Rooters water restoration team literally saved the day! Not only did they take time to explain everything to us, but they were kind, courteous and compassionate with our sensitive situation. Our shower had a leak and it was very stressful. They were here so fast and helped us with our home. They are honest and helped us remedy our issues. They took my husbands veteran status into consideration and the major health issue my husband just went though in to account to not only keep us safe but to help us with the cost. These men were angels from the beginning and I can't thank them enough for their time, help and love. We definitely felt cared for. That is way above and beyond the call of duty in helping with moisture. My home was spared ruin and my so was my livelihood. It was really refreshing to have support during such a scary time and from people who really know what they're doing. I highly recommend them! If I could give them a million stars, I would!
The water heater for our nail shop stopped working on Valentine's Day weekend. They had a technician out same day I called (they took my call at 3AM! And had the technician on the way before 8am when they opened. The technician, Robert Gomez, worked around all the issues we had, small space, having water come out of the piped when people would use cold water at our pedicure stations, etc, and handled it all like a champ. He worked tirelessly and had us up and running by halfway through the day with a brand new commercial grade water heater, and up to code installation. He had a great attitude, and went above and beyond helping to get the job done. Very impressed with his service.
Anyone who is having sewer problems should not hesitate to call these people even if they have no experience or personal knowledge of them. From the initial response to our after-hours, emergency call to the completion of the work, everything was handled to our complete satisfaction. Isaiah responded around midnight to survey the situation and determine the appropriate response. He was prompt, courteous and professional. Most important, he was right about the diagnosis. Technicians were promptly sent out to pump our septic tank, flush all the drain lines and inspect them after the job with a camera. The two technicians who performed the work were Brian and Austin. This was an unusually difficult and tedious job. They did not grouse or complain. They went to work right away and didn't stop until completion. They were professional, qualified to do the job, competent in their execution of it, hardworking, informative, courteous and cooperative-even personable. These people know their business. They have the proper equipment and staffing to deliver prompt and effective service. I don't know what these things are supposed to cost, but I am happy to pay their bill knowing I am in good hands. We could have called some local sole proprietorship. Who knows how that would have turned out. Roto Rooter has been around for years and has a well-established name. You can trust them.
I reviewed Roto-Rooter (Sacramento) elsewhere, and gave Colby 5 stars for his service. I'd mostly stand by that, albeit in the end his snaking the line changed nothing. Roto-rooter refunded me because he left and said the issue appeared to be resolved, and I found out after running our washing machine that the issue remained.
Where the company really did wrong by me is that when they returned (different rep) and tried snaking again, they advised they had reached a point the snake couldn't get through, and that Hydro-jetting might be necessary. They also said it might be necessary to install a cleanout, and that they'd return with a camera to assess the issue.
Instead of coming back with a camera to give a precise diagnosis, the following day I received a quote of $4200 to install a new drain cleanout and to complete cast-iron repair.
They told me over the phone they'd be unable to access the line with a camera.
Skeptical, I found another company to give me an estimate. After surveying the issue (and using a camera), they said the problem could probably be resolved with snaking, but said hydrojetting might be a safer bet. No pressure to choose the more expensive option though.
We chose the hydrojetting with that company and the issue was resolved for $850.
Ultimately it seems like the diagnosis Roto-Rooter gave us was incorrect/short-sighted, and it almost cost us over $3250.
I was so impressed by their professionalism and punctuality. The did an excellent job on the water cleanup. They gave the house crawl space an inspection for leaks when it water was extracted. 10 stars for Mark, Kenny (mud man), Jason and Brian. Thank you for taking my veteran status into consideration. All in all I was extremely happy with the service. THANKS GUYS!
They called yesterday to confirm. Stated that a plumber would be here by 10 AM. I requested they call 30 minutes prior to arrival so I could open the gate. The caller said she would call me in the morning. No call from her, no call from the plumber. It's almost 11 AM as I write this and the plumber is not here.
I called regarding a kitchen sink clog and a technician came out a few days later. He ran a snake down the drain and the water then flowed. He said there were coffee grounds in the drain (there were not) and subsequently found a slow leak in the wall. He gave me a quote for this but I told him I would have to think about it rather than going ahead at that time. Ten days later the sink was again completely stopped up. I called and was told there was no guarantee on the work because I had refused the other (unrelated) repairs that he recommended. I would not use a company that did not give at least a 30 day guarantee for the expensive ($227) work that they did.
Dont' USE ROTO ROOTER of OCALA and GAINESVILLE . They claim in all their ads that they work 24/7--but when on a Saturday at 4pm--I had a water line break--which forced me to turn the entire water off to my house----IT TURNS OUT THEY DONT WORK 24/7!!!. I called for service=they took my name number and service issue and said they would put out an emergency request-----well 5 hours later--no one calls or shows up---so I call back===now I get the answering service who says they will put out a 2nd request. 5 minutes later--the Office manager (female) from Gainesville office--calls me back and says they have no one to respond--(that they are ALL BOOKED UP for the night). So I ask--well why didnt anyone from ROTO ROOTER respond and tell me that==so I could call another service-to fix my problem today-AND SHE HAD NO ANSWER--then i ask--can someone come out 1st thing tomorrow--as I have no water for my family use--and she said-with an Attitude tone in her voice!-""I DONT KNOW--YOU WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE OFFICE TOMORROW and FIND OUT...!-- So I ask her ""I guess you dont work 24/7 and you dont want my business--and she responded==GUESS NOT and HUNG UP on ME!
