DO NOT USE ROTO ROOTER! Roto Rooter is a complete waste of money. They came out to unclog gutter downspouts underground and quoted $2,400 for about 8 spouts and about 4-5 hours of work. We ended up only needing 5 done and it took 2 hours and 2 could not be unclogged and still charged $2,400.

Shower had backed up because of garbage disposal line clogged. I was desperately in need a company who would respond to my problem asap. Subsequently, they showed up within an hour and looked at the problem and told me the kitchen line needed to be "" snaked""
The gentleman then said the price is 525 plus the cost of materials.

525.00 plus taxes for running a snake line ? I had the same company came out few years ago and they ran a snake line in the clean out line with a camera , it only costed me 285.00.

The gentleman tried to rob me legally but i didnt allow it

This company overcharges for very simple work. I had a minor link from a sink nut. I purchased the replacement pipe and nut myself and had already started the repair (it was that easy), when I realized the pipe would need to be cut. I did not have the tools for that, so I called Roto. The guys looked confirmed I had done most of the work and explained the would""only"" charge for 1-hour of work, since that is their minimum. The job took 15 minutes or less. That said, the technician was kind and professional, so that is why I gave one star.

Roto-Rooters or Roto-Robbers. Same thing I guess.

I used Roto-Rooters service before and it was ALWAYS expensive.

I called them 5 days ago for a quote to fix a leak underneath the bathroom.

Ok great! They came out and quoted me $250 just to cut a piece of wood to see the where the leak is coming from. Ok I paid the $250 because I am desperate for someone to fix the problem.

They found out where the leak was coming from and then quoted me $3600 and then made it known they may charge me an additional $1100 to support the PVC pipes.

I side eyed the quote thinking heck no.

Anyways I called another plumbing company and they quoted me $2075 and they did a darn great job! AND they supported the PVC pipes for free. WIN-WIN!

I called Roto-Rooter to check my hot water heater and see if they can install a safety overflow pipe in case of a leak or any issue, and to replace my bathtub faucet because it's broken.

I felt like I would have been in good hands because this company is national(I think) and because when I called to schedule an appointment, I always spoke an actual human who was very helpful.

I scheduled my service for an 8 to 10 window, and the morning of at around 9 I received a call from a dispatcher saying the technician would arrive around 930. At around 10 I received another call from the same dispatcher, not my technician, said that the tech had arrived at my location. Another 10 minutes went by as I waited for him to call me to let him in to my apartment building but he never did so I went downstairs, saw him on his phone in his truck, and waved him inside. He never gave me his name and was not very friendly. I told him the services I needed and I showed him where my water heater is, which is raised in a crawl space behind a wood panel in my bed room. He looked at the location of the heater and said he was not capable of doing the job, and when I asked him to at least take a look at the physical water heater, he just said again that he wouldn't be able to fix it and that he would call a senior tech to come out and look at it. When I asked if he could at least fix the faucet in my bath tub he said the new technician would handle that as well.

He then left, to check to make sure his truck hadn't been towed, and apparently called the new tech who was supposed to arrive around the times of 12-2. 15 minutes after 2 pm I called Roto-Rooter and asked what the ETA of the tech was, and they informed me he wouldn't be coming because of the weather.

I just wish someone had called me before I waited another two hours at home to let me know no one was coming, and I think the first technician should have at least taken the time to actually look at my water heater. I've wasted a day trying to get someone out to help me with this, and in the future I will absolutely not consider calling Roto-Rooter.

Awesome team! We saw a leak last night on our ceiling and the Roto-Rooter guys were over within 1 hour scanning the place. The plumber took take of the leak and the water restoration team was over by the next morning. CJ #453 and Chris #745 were an absolute dream team. They got everything done within 3 hours, had the space cleaned up and were ready to roll.. not to mention incredibly polite and resourceful. Nothing but good things to say.

Run away from these guys - total bait and switch, excessive charges. When I called the office for a simple drain job they told be they could not give any price indication - got an appointment a day later, technician shows up and says standard charge is 450$ for a 10 minute simple job. Since my tenant was waiting, was forced to do it - would have found a real plumber if they had been honest about standard charges up front. Tried to follow up with customer service - just answering machines for two days and no call backs

Horrible con artists - stay away

Dear fellow Yelp readers....learn from my mistake, and do NOT use Roto-Rooter! I have a sani-flo toilet in my basement that stopped working. Roto-Rooter sent out a technician right away (so they get one star for me due to a quick response). Twenty minutes and $350 later, the technician told me he fixed the problem by cutting down a pipe that was too long. Less than 30 days later the toilet stopped working again. They said their previous ""repair"" did not qualify for a warranty, and sent out another technician who wanted to charge me over $1000 to replace the whole toilet. I said no thanks, and called a local plumber (Metzger Robert Plumbing if you need somebody who is actually good and won't rip you off!) who fixed my problem for $140. Roto-Rooter is a total scam that tries to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money. Never again!!

In 2012,called RotoRooter to clear out a clogged soil pipe; they determined that it needed to be replaced. They did not know Haverford Twp codes enforcement. They installed a P trap that could have been waived by the township. The P trap worsened the pipe flow and have had six cleanouts since then. Most recently, they failed to run a camera after two clogs in six days which would have revealed that the pipe installation had the wrong pitch and promoted clogs. I paid them $7,500 over a period of better than 5 years. The duped me into thinking that using RotoRooter Pipe Shield down the drain would cure the issue to get past the 5 year guarantee period. The district office has shown itself to be a planned action to avoid responsibility. I am thinking of action against them in small claims court to recover the cost fixing of what they did. The techs have a lot of turnover and are uneven in experience and know-how. If in Delaware County, stay away from RotoRooter.

I used roto rooter 6 years ago when the main sewer line in my house backed up. It was a mess. The tech came out super late at night and worked to clear the roots that were blocking the sewer line. The same exact thing happened tonight and a tech came out and the first thing he said when I explained what the problem was and that I was hoping that it wasn't all backed up when he opened the valve cap was ""I'm not opening that. If that's backed up there's nothing I can do."" Then I mentioned that the last time roto rooter came out they used a machine to clear the roots to which he replied ""That's not making it down here"" referring to my basement steps. Then he said ""welp, it's $479.00 for me to do anything."" He did put the camera down and did get the machine that would clear the roots except he poked a whole through it and told me ""that's all I can do. I gave you temporary relief. You'll need to have your pipe excavated and replaced."" I understand that tree out front is the source of the problem but I also understand that he arrived at 11:40pm and finished ""working"" on my problem at 12:05am so to me he didn't provide the service I was feel I paid for. Especially not since I had such a great experience with the first roto rooter tech 6 years ago. Had I known it was going to be like that I would have not called the company. I called because of my previous experience and now I feel like I'm out $470+ and still have the same problem to worry about in the immediate future.
