Ben S.Jeremy Herman was out today and he put in the work to get us back up and running under their 6-month warranty on the previous visit.
Unfortunately, I need to add an access panel added to a wall that never should have been built over the clean out for our kitchen sink drain. That's a reflection on the previous owners and their contractor who finished the basement, not these guys. Jeremy and crew did a fantastic job for me.
Thus far, I'm finding RotoRooter hard to beat for a clogged drain.
Thanks again Jeremy! Please don't be offended but I hope not to have to call you in the future.
ChristIan did a great job. Was courteous and timely. Explain the entire process ahead of time and verified everything was cleared and operational.
I hope that people really pay attention to my review, bc I've never experienced something like this before. I had a clog in my basement drain and had roto rooter come out bc it was the weekend. He unclogged it and said I'd get a call in two days from the guys who will follow up with a camera scope of the drain. No call, so 2 weeks later, I called about the camera appointment. I was told I'd get a call back that evening - no call. A week later, I called back and they said that I'd get a call from the plumber as to when they'd arrive. The doorbell rings a couple hours later (no call ahead) and Trent is there with a new guy that he's training. Great energy and everyone is happy. He sends the camera down my drain while I'm looking at the iPad - all of a sudden he goes ""oh no - this is not good. There's rocks in your pipe...oh there some toilet paper and water. This absolutely should NOT look like this"". He proceeds to tell me I need to have them tear out the pipes from all 3 stacks and leading out under the house. He quoted me at $26,000 but said their Black Friday special (this was a week after) was still good. That would bring it down to $23,700. He told me this was needing to happen ASAP if I didn't want water in my basement (most of it is finished). I go up to speak to my fiancé who had just had surgery and I'm freaking out. We decide we want a second opinion and I go down to where Trent tells me his new guy told him he was being too pushy and he apologized. I told him I wanted to get a second opinion and he replied with ""would it make a difference if I could get this done for 20,000?"" He proceeds to call the office and gets the go ahead the administrative assistant who answered the phone. He wanted a signature right then and there. When I told him I still wanted to get a second opinion, he told me the price will go back up to the $26,000 and that we shouldn't use any of the water in the house until replaced all the pipes underneath the basement because my entire basement would flood. The guy he was training wouldn't even look me in the face, even though he had been smiling and very chatty the entire time. I told himI would call around and get back to him even though it might mean missing out on the deal, he said ""if you do not get this done on Monday your basement will absolutely flood"". I said it was time to go and they left. I called Sewer Pros and a very kind guy came out to re-scope it with a camera. He looked at all 3 stack's pipes (rotor rooter only looked at 1) and he told me that everything I was seeing was normal and that the rocks in the pipes was RIGHT before the basement floor so it was a 2 foot replacement - not 50feet of all the pipes. I burst into tears and was so thankful it was more of a 3k job than 26k. Trent tried to use fear to take advantage of me. I called his supervisor and told him the same. He said Trent is their most trusted camera guy and I said well he wasn't last week. Side note, my fiancé had roto rooter out to her house in the city and the guy was a chatty cathy, admitting that their prices are WAY higher than they should be and that they will lie to homeowners to get the job. He said use another plumber. This company should be shut down or at least investigated. That is my experience and I'm so thankful I trusted my gut.
Needed a tub drain cabled (snaked) to clear a hair clog. Called Roto-Rooter in my area. Sent to a regional call center. Very polite scheduler was unable to provide any estimates for the drain clearing service despite web site claim to be able to provide an estimate. There was no trip-fee for the technician to come to the house (plumber does not come for drain clogs). Scheduler said the online coupon on their website for $75 would be honored and that I could turn away the technician with no charge if I did not like the price he quoted. Technician arrived in a timely fashion within an hour and was extremely friendly and professional. Charge for cabling the drain was $439; with coupon, the charge decreased to $364. He said if the attempt to clear the drain was unsuccessful, the charge would decrease to $250 for his visit and attempt to clear the drain. I would then need a plumber. Cost was more than I expected, but I needed the service done, and the technician was there. I was asked to sign a waiver for any damage since I had tried Draino unsuccessfully 2 hours prior to the appointment. He cabled the drain with removal of the blockage in less than 3 minutes. Technician provided 5-star service.
I had also contacted 2 other local plumbing companies that wanted trip fees and could not provide a fee estimate over the phone, either. So refusal to provide an estimate of the fee over the phone appears to be the common local practice in my geographic area regardless of the provider. I suspect the trip fee for Roto-Rooter was rolled into the total fee of $439 and then was discounted off by the $75 coupon. Make sure you check the Roto-Rooter website for coupons prior to scheduling your service.
Melissa S.Plumber? Replaced a filter that did not restore function to my faucet. Told me my faucet was bad and he would be happy to replace. I declined and was charged $519. I contacted the faucet company GROHE and they instructed me how to fix the issue in 5 minutes. The part the guy replaced was not even the problem. Truly horrible service and outrageous pricing.
Had a plumber from Roto-Rooter come out to unblock a drain. Plumber identified mud in sand drain. Estimated a price of $4900 TO START and repair the drain and charged me $250 for service fee. He was kind enough to take off $125, SERIOUSLY! Called a local plumbing company out with a $50 service fee and received an estimate of $725 for the same work. Maybe next time Roto-Rooter! Maybe next time! SHAME ON YOU! SMH!!
The service was delayed at first. The rate was $350 per hour told by the technician. I rejected the quotes for a simple job. For that, I paid $69.
My parents are recovering from surgery and had to call Roto-Rooter. Good times. My father, who is very old school, was dreading yet another person in his house, dealing with yet another problem. I believe he was directed to the Ballwin, MO office, but I'm not sure. I want to make sure Brenden 0092 gets the credit he deserves. My dad told us when he answered the door, there was a polite, clean, well-mannered young man. It is clear my dad had surgery when you saw him. The first thing out of Brenden's mouth was, ""Sir, can I bring your garbage cans back up to the house for you?"" My dad was impressed and appreciative. It was a big job, and Dad said Brenden kept him informed what he was doing, what he was going to do, and answered any questions my dad had. My father is a man of integrity and an excellent judge of character. He said Brenden was professional, knowledgeable, and well-mannered. The repair was lengthy and expensive. Having a representative of your company that shows up clean, polite, professional, and willing to go above and beyond to help a client is an incredible asset. On behalf of myself and my siblings, I would like to thank Brenden for his kindness and for making my parents feel comfortable and taken care of during his visit. This boy deserves credit.
Service in less than one hour of finding my sewer drain had backed up. Super nice guy did the work.
