Had to miss work to have service tech come. Had issues with a drain in our window well. Long story short, guy not only didn't fix the problem (may have actually made things worse), but had the audacity to still charge us 400 DOLLARS! I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I needed a simple line cleared and called Saturday late afternoon. They offered same day service but I wasn't in a hurry and so they offered 8am the following day. They won't quote cost(s) over the phone whatsoever but state that their tech will assess the situation at no cost. At 8:30am I called to be sure that they intended to send a tech and was given a revised 8-12p time-frame. At 8:45a a knock at my door was a Roto Rooter Field Supervisor who seemed confused. I quickly realized that he was there to lay the ground-work for the Roto-Rooter scam....but he could see that my needs were only for a line clearing....he left...and I scratched my head. The tech arrived at 1:30pm. I had everything ready for the tech and provided easy/quick access to the clogged line....the tech didn't even need to unscrew a single cap. The line cleared quickly and easily, however, the tech spent the entire time discussing what he was 'feeling' through the cable...instilling fear....suggesting that his supervisor would come later to quote me on repairing my underground pipes. I told him that the office had already inadvertently sent the field supervisor earlier in the morning....and to please snake the line....and not to bother with any additional 'supervisors' or prospective 'quotes'. The charges for a simple line snake job ended up being nearly $400. Roto-Rooter's entire corporate mantra is to delay the customer into desperation, over-charge for services, instill fear in the customer's mind, and then scam consumers out of as much money and in as many ways as possible. They are sending ""field supervisors"" out (un-marked vehicle) for a full on tag-team style scam.
WAIT AND HIRE A LOCAL COMPANY TO CLEAR YOUR BLOCKED LINE. Roto Rooter should be ashamed of themselves. I should say that both the Supervisor and the tech were seemingly decent individuals.....but acting as co-conspirators for their bosses apparent wide-spread corporate scam(s) nonetheless.
The problem was that the Supervisor and the Tech are CLEARLY instructed by corporate to instill fear in the customer's mind and lay the ground-work for a 'supervisor's visit' whether there is any reason for such a visit or not. A simple line blockage clearing is their way in to your home where they then run both (a) the charge as much as possible scam and (b) instill fear so that we can come back out and charge for as many potentially unnecessary repairs as possible.
It was pure insanity. I don't review often.....but I will move heaven and earth to let AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE know what Roto-Rooter is doing.

Kitchen sink stopped draining. Liquid plumber, plunger and clearing the p-trap didn't work. Scheduled a two hour window appointment same day. Received text to confirm appointment window shortly after and another to confirm Chris was 30-45 min out. He was on time. Confirmed starting cost and once resolved, explained issue. Super professional and clean (especially for a dirty process.) Will use going forward.

Their schedulers are not good. They clearly have too much on their plate. In this instance the scheduler takes all the information (every detail) but somehow doesn't confirm the details at the end of it all. I call at the end of an arrival window (always 4 hours don't believe if they provide you a smaller window it's a lie), only to find out that they not only had the wrong address but they scheduled the emergency same day service request call for the next day after promising same day service without letting me know.

Terrible work on just the scheduling part. I'm still going through with it because I must. I'll update after the results of that. If you need immediate emergency plumbing service my recommendation is to go with another company.

Feces were backing out of drains in the bathroom. I needed a plumber last night desperately. I called Roto Rooter only after my go to guy was tied up. I'm getting one next day at some time between now and noon despite receiving a same day service verbal ""promise"".

TLDR: Don't use Roto Rooter if you require same day emergency service.

I had them come out for a sewage backup and to clear the line. Turned out I needed to have a city inspector come out and meet with my tech from Roto Rooter. I have had 3 appointments with the city inspector and Roto Rooter to meet to get my issue resolved and Roto Rooter has failed to show up and each time and didn't even give me a heads up they wouldn't be able to make it. The city inspector has waited outside my home 3 times now for an hour waiting for them to show up. What makes it worse is I have already paid for their service so now I'm stuck with them... definitely don't pay until they have done EVERYTHING they say they will do. Customer service has for the most part been incredibly rude and not at all remorseful for no showing. I never post reviews, but this by far has been my worst customer experience I've ever had.

would give 0 stars if possible. the communication in this company is beyond horrible, good luck getting ahold of anybody. We had to show up to their office to even be spoken to.
if we hadn't had enough trouble before they finished our project, they decided to charge us an extra $3,250 a week later. Absolutely ridiculous

I would give no star if i could, they canceled my appoinment twice, this is for a commercial business service, they advertise clearly on the website that they do backflow prevention service, that why I called them. After 2 cancel appointments with no call, they told me they no longer do backflow prevention. They have wasted 2 days of my time. Thanks Roto Rooter of KC! Horrible experience.

Reached out to get services, and explained that I oversee and Isl with clients with special needs and disabilities. With that being said I was ensured that they'd be able to accompany me in my request for immediate service. I reached out to them at 6:55pm the hour is now 9:31p and just recently nit 5 mins ago they stated unfortunately they would not be able to service me this evening , and wouldn't be available until 11a-3p. I was very displeased with the assurance they would assist as needed because if the clients I serve .

1 star or less if I could. Extremely over charged! Main line sewer clean out and camera inspection $1200. Prices from $9200 to use some special tool to scrape out build up and clean other lines to $10,000 to replace pvc pipe under basement and then $5900 to run a new pipe to the end of my property for outside clean out. The last price was negotiable by $2000 in a few seconds and thats when it hit me these guys are crooks!!! Hire local, I didn't because I had sewer and didn't think they could respond as quick, I was wrong.

Check out their reviews on the Better Business Bureau. I won't recommend this company to anyone, ever, ever, ever. The short-and-sweet of it is I suffered a high-pressure sales pitch from them that amounted to nearly 20K of services proposed to address three ""collapses"". Part of that fix included jack-hammering into my kitchen floor followed by hand-digging a 6ft hole into the ground to replace pipe (In. My. Kitchen).

A different company who--unlike Roto-Rooter--respected my property and did not leave a mess, concluded that all I needed was my line cleaned. Do the math. I paid $100 for ""labor"" with Roto-Rooter prior to the actual ""work"" that they'd proposed, which would follow their initial visit. So I basically paid Roto-Rooter $100 for scaring me, misguiding me, leaving a mess of their tools and of the stinky roots they'd pulled from my line in my yard, and for leaving their line stuck in my bathroom pipe. And then I was left with a bill and a drain that still didn't drain. Thankfully, SNAKE-AND-ROOTER (a very, very different company)--is in the business of making customers, not just making money. They came out to offer a free diagnoses, surveyed the length of my line, unclogged my line, showed me that there were NO visible breaks. And informed me that one of the ""collapses"" Roto-Rooter had reported was actually in a section of easement that the city would take care of, had that actually been the case. In other words, even if there had been damage there, I would not have been responsible for paying for it...IF I was aware of the city's service.

This is one of the worst experiences I've had when it comes to dealing with people who are so willing to damage others for their own gain. I hope this review helps someone avoid similar experiences. Also, please KNOW THIS: Missouri law provides customers a 3-day cooling off period after signing an agreement for a large purchase. Look that up. Know your rights there, and also know how companies might try to revoke your right, there, as well. It's all a life-saver.
