Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

So I started doing google reviews because i got tired of bad service and businesses overcharging customers for what would be considered low level work. Mind you, I am aware that they are running a business but what Roto Rooter does in their pricing, in my estimation, can hardly be considered fair prices. When I know that I need to have a service done, I like to go onto Youtube and look at exactly what a job entails and how much time it takes as well as the industry average costs. I am not saying that Roto Rooter does not do a good job at all as they have completed several jobs for me but I have felt each time that they have charged me more than everyone else in town would have. I do my homework. And when I say more, i mean waaaay more, like 35% or maybe they just charge me more or it could be that no one else is looking but we are in hard economic times and it is hardly the time to give your money away. Most of these services hit you with a service fee just for coming out and that is understood, time is money and i get that but even with the elimination of the fee once they get here they are still way above the cost average and i've even had them try to upcharge the service even more with fictitious parts being needed. After the latest call I am putting my foot down and I will no longer use them. Yes they are highly rated but understand that just because they do a good job, it doesn't justify why their costs are so much higher than anybody else because others do a good job as well for way less. I know a good number of calls for plumbers are emergencies and they are larger and can get to you quicker in many instances but if you can hold off and do your due diligence, i'm sure you can find a more cost effective answer to your plumbing issues.

this is second time they canceled my service appoitments! every time they offer you a window and you have to wait and wait and then after waiting hours they will call you telling you that they can not make it and have to reschedule. the service had been better before and now it is getting worse and worse. have to say goodbye to it for any of my plumbing needs.

I contacted Roto Rooter through their national website so am not sure which of the franchises in St Louis treated me so poorly, but I imagine none of them would have done better.

I set an appointment 7/22/2022 to have my kitchen drain cleared. Best that could be done was between 8 AM and noon on 7/23/2022. About 07:45 AM they called and told me Zach would arrive between 8 and 8:30 AM. NO show, so I called and canceled the appointment.

Several minutes later their truck pulled into my driveway so I stepped outside and told the driver I'd cancelled the appointment and told him why. I received a rather snotty, ""Have a nice day, buddy"" from the driver so he got a nasty response from me. Seriously, no apology and an insult, to boot?

They called me earlier than expected, but should have called again as soon as they knew they would be late, but didn't bother to do so. And I am no one's ""buddy"". Bottom line, if they can't be on time there's no telling how bad the service would have been and how much they would have tried to cheat me out of more than my time.

If I could give this a negative star I would! I called initially for a leak in my house where I scheduled at the end of the day. (Since I am in medical school all day!) I get a call saying roto is backed up and that I was going to get a call back. 3 weeks goes by and the ceiling in the laundry room is all molded and yet no call back! I called them again to schedule at the same time since obviously they forgot about me and guess what?! ""Sorry sir we don't have any personnel to come to your office!"" I am very upset that they are even in business with the little to no integrity they have!!

I'm not even sure where to start with these guys.

I've owned my home in University City for a couple years now, and we had a sewer line issue where a cap got stuck, created a seal, and caused back flow into the bathroom. I usually use a local plumber, but my boyfriend wanted to use a more well known plumber that he thought might have had experience with this. So I let him handle it.

He called Roto Rooter on a Monday afternoon and explained the situation very carefully so they knew what they needed to come and quote. They told him he would be the first one to be seen on Tuesday morning. Tuesday rolled around, and didn't hear anything. We finally called after noon, and were told they would get to him. Called again at 4PM and was told, sorry, he would be first on the list Wednesday. Same issue Wednesday. Finally, after noon, I think they were fed up with us calling, and they came out. They were there for a few minutes and basically said they needed a different specialist for the issue, so we would get put on the list first thing Thursday - AFTER my boyfriend had already explained in detail what the issue was. Thursday rolled around, and we never heard from them, so at this point we gave up. We actually never got a call from them to come see the issue again since we never followed up. So, they ghosted us.

It was a very unique issue (they had to cut the cast iron and replace it with PVC), so I would understand if they didn't want to take the job. But communication is key; they should have told us that instead of stringing us along for so long and adding extra days onto getting the issue fixed because we were thinking they would come fix it.

Called on Sunday and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. They were a no show. I called and they said someone from dispatch would call me and I never heads from. Today (Wednesday) they showed up with no communication they were coming.

Just used Roto Rooter at a vacation home in Virginia and received prompt, knowledgable repair service, as usual. This us my go-to plumbing company.

I called on Thursday at 3:30pm to get a plumber out they were there on Friday at 9am to get me taken care of. Shawn is a real Gem and a really hard worker. He explained everything he was doing and was very personable. I will be using them for all of my plumbing needs an would highly recommend them.

Had a clogged shower drain. Called two other places with no success but when I called Roto Rooter, they answered promptly and professionally. I had a plumber at my house in 90 minutes. He did a great job and cleaned up very well. I highly recommend this place in Winchester, Mo. right near 141 and Manchester.

I called Roto Rooter for a clogged kitchen sink. Nick from the service came after being told he would be there in 30 minutes. He was punctual, knowledgeable, patient & courteous to our questions. He was very professional & explained what he was going to do. He made us feel at ease because he listened to our concerns & he was patient to answer them. He is an asset to your company.
