Technically, I don't know if this is the right Roto-Rooter, since the paperwork only has Chicago as a location, but Richard who came to Quincy tonight, you know who you are! You took care of the condo's main drain, and got us flowing again at a normal pace. I couldn't believe it that I could request an appt on a Sunday night online and have someone at my door in less than an hour. It wasn't even an emergency, that's just how they do it, and it's a flat fee for drain stuff no extra charges for ""emergent"" work or Sundays! I thought I'd be dealing with plumbers all week to take care of this! Richard was friendly, polite, and informative, just what was needed to set me at ease and to take take of the problem. Richard, you're my drain hero tonight! Thank you!
Julie P.Excellent service. Very prompt and extremely informative and friendly. Even with our dog!
Thanks for a great job.
I called Roto-Rooter after our drainage pipe out to the main sewer line started backing up due to roots in the pipe. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and accommodating (they offer 24/7 service which is fantastic for emergency situations, or just being able to schedule service around your work day). Our Roto-Rooter plumber was pleasant and efficient, and was able to clear the pipe of roots in under an hour. I would certainly recommend Roto-Rooter to others!
Roto Rooter came out to replace a pipe from our house to the street -
which was a pretty big job.($11K)We were guaranteed verbally in no
uncertain terms that they would put the yard back together exactly as
it was. For the 5 years we have lived in the house I worked day and
night to keep our yard beautiful and was worried about this job, so I
had conversations about this with everyone involved. Both the excavator
NICK and plumber DAVE McLEAN assured me that the yard would be
restored. They were so anxious to get the job that they made these
promises.I even asked them if I should hire someone to come out and
remove all the plants before they started the job. I would have been
more than happy to do that, but was assured that there would be no
problem, they would do everything.Instead they destroyed 90% of what
was in the yard and replaced about 10 plants in the upturned rocks.
Two separate landscapers were very surprised to see this and told us
that the plants would surely die if left as they were.Roto Rooter
wanted the job and were happy enough to lie to get it.They also left us
this huge pile of stones, claiming that my 70 year old father told them
that he would take care of it. He never said that, and it is crazy to
think that he could do so on his own even if he did. When contacted and
asked to make it right I was told by a guy named RYAN that someone
would come take a look. If they did, we never saw them. On the
phone I was told that it looked fine, and we should live with it.
When pushed about exactly when they came out, or what - if anything -
they would do to help make it right RYAN refused to talk about it.
They were very pleasant and super responsive. We had a simple clog and just hadn't been able to fix it ourselves. They had an appointment set up to come out within 2 hours. Pierre was very knowledgeable and had things fixed up in a jiffy. Because we had two clogs (sink and shower) he gave me a ""discount"" but I will say that it felt VERY expensive. I didn't have the energy to tell them not to complete the job once I had been given the estimate but did feel like I was way overpaying for what he did. Took him about an hour and was pleased with the work but would think twice before spending that much again.
Eric H.We called on Saturday afternoon and were told they would be there Saturday night between 6-8 pm. At 8 pm they called us and said they can not make it and will need to reschedule to Sunday. We asked for the first thing and they gave us a window between 10-noon. At 11:30 they called and said the technician was running just a few minutes late. At 2 pm, they showed up. I asked previously the price to snake the drain and they wouldn't quote me on the phone. I then found out why. They told me it was $380 to snake the drain. Not because it was Sunday, that is just their rates. I was immediately offered a $40 coupon. I had to do it at this point since we had been without a shower for 2 plus days. I would not recommend them.
Very Expensive!! The service was available within an hour and they picked up the phone when I called and sent someone out right away. I had a simple sink drainage issue. They used a snake to get it unclogged. It took about 20 minutes. The charge was $369. Wow that is very expensive!!!
This company are thiefs!!! Totally overpriced beyond acceptable. I called for a price on snaking a kitchen sink drain and they said they send someone over to provide a ""free"" estimate -- they wouldn't quote over the phone. Once here they quoted $369 just to snake my kitchen drain line!!! A 15 minute job! I refused and sent him packing, indicating I wanted to get another quote. I called Rooter Man, they provided me with a quote over the phone, they came within an hour and I ended up paying $155 which included a $20 discount for mentioning their ad!!! This was a $214 savings over Roto-Rooter for the same job!!! When in need call Rooter Man and stay far, far away from Roto-Rooter!!!!!!
Kristian P.Please review the invioices these techs give you. The company often sent their apprentices to do plumbing work that requires a license at half the cost to the company of course. They charge the same as if it were a licensed plumber and this is fraud and you may be due your money back if this is so
Matt C.Pros: Fast, friendly, professional service. Will show up within an hour or two.
Cons: Massive national franchise which charges TWICE as much as your hard-working local plumber (who is probably just a friendly and professional). Will not give you an estimate or even discuss their pricing (set at exorbitantly high flat rates) until they are in your house, at which point you'd have to be pretty rude to actually ask them to leave. Written estimate will not include itemized information about specific flat fees, leaving consumer to assume that these numbers have been pulled out of the drain along with all of the coffee grounds and stray metal objects that had been clogging it.
Looks like the reviewer above made the same mistake that I did... I hope that our similar experiences will help someone else make a better decision. Unless you have a life/sanitation-threatening emergency or a fairly complex job that you're willing to pay a lot for, find a local plumber who charges by the hour and get a basic estimate up front, over the phone. Otherwise, you'll be paying these guys *at least* $500/hour.
