The service man arrived very fast and was extremely pleasant and knowledgable.
He fixed the problem quickly and offered valuable info on how to avoid having the problem again
John A.We have very old plumbing and were trying to replace an old toilet which didn't even have a shut off valve. It went straight into the tank. Ed warned me that it could go one of 2 ways.
1. He unscrews the pipe and it comes off and replaces without a problem.
2. It breaks on the inside of the wall and we have to tear through the wall to fix it (the reason we didn't even try).
Fortunately, he was able achieve #1. It did need some nonstandard parts to make the connection which we would never have been able to find at Home Depot or Lowes. He did a great job!
The original service technician came out and cleared a clogged drain but in reassembling the pipes he cracked the drain pipe on my garbage disposal. A few days later I was using the sink and it flooded my kitchen cabinets and floor when the pipe finally broke entirely and just fell apart.
I called to have it repaired and was originally told it would be covered by the warranty. A new technician came out and looked at the situation and confirmed that it would be covered by the warranty. Once he realized the garbage disposal was actually broken, however, his story changed. He refused to replace the broken piece or even, when I offered to pay for the parts, to simply put it back together. After several hours of arguing back and forth and escalation to his manager and watching him text with the original technician he just left telling me to get the parts and then they'd send the original tech out and he and I would have to 'work it out' to see if it would be put back together under the warranty or if I'd need to pay for the work again.
Obviously I was unwilling to *pay* the guy who broke the thing originally to try and put it back together again after being told very pointedly I had signed a waiver relieving them of all responsibility if something breaks (basically, I'm out of luck). In the end it took me 20 minutes and about $13 in parts to fix it myself, well worth it for not having to deal with another roto-rooter technicians ever again. I can't help but notice the missed opportunity to just fix something so simple that would have taken a professional even less time and made me a satisfied customer.
I'll post my reviews wherever I can and hopefully save others from having the experience I did with this company.
I had a clogged toilet and called Roto-rooter. They were at the house within 45 minutes. I had Thech 1853, Apolo. He was extremely courteous and thorough. He took time to explain all of the options and prices. He made suggestions for care of plumbing and pointed out items that needed better maintenance and explained how. He left everything in better condition than when he started replacing screws that were in bad shape, etc. The bathroom was left in clean condition. I am extremely pleased with the professional service.
The technicians came out and fixed the drain issue that we have been having, and noticed that there was an even bigger problem that we had not known. They had to call out another tech to rectify that issue, who was very professional and understanding that we were upset at the cost of the huge job (Jay). All in all, the four guys that we dealt with we're professional and knowledgeable about what they were doing and did the job in a timely manner.
Just called roto-rooter to fix a clogged kitchen sink. They told my it would be a minimum charge of $425 before even looking at it. I don't know, but a minimum of $425 for a clogged kitchen sink seems excessive. Seems like price gouging because of the area I'm in.
I had used Roto-Rooter in the past on a different property, because they do so up. Getting someone to show up is sometimes a challenge in my area. But like one of the other reviews from 10/20/205 they tried to tell me I needed new outside pipes to the street and the cost of $6,500 ($4,000 to replace main + 2,500 to dig up street). Roto Rooter really tried to scare me into the extra service making sound like a disaster in imminent. When I had another plumber check it out he said everything was fine. Oh - this was 2 years ago and everything is still fine.
I would call them if you need someone quick for a specific job and don't mind paying a little extra for the quick service. They do show up. I definitely would NOT take any advise from them on any other work that needs to be done and find someone more reputable for that.
Kemberly S.Called to have them check my grease trap that wasn't functioning at the moment. They were fast to get back to me with appointment set up and they actually showed up on designated time (trust me, there's so many companies that don't send out their technicians on time). The guy was very nice and thorough with inspection.
To sum it up: efficient, affordable and kind.
Will call again for any future maintenance.
Our brick sidewalk along the side of multi-family property began to sink. After some exploration, I noted that the soil was being washed away in an area above an underground drainpipe that exits our home. We live in a historic area with very old drainage/sewer systems serving the homes in town. I called Root-Rooter late afternoon on Sunday and asked if they could send a crew out to put a camera down the line and see if they could determine the exact problem. I initially asked for a ballpark estimate for the camera service and was told that they couldn't give an estimate over the phone. By 9:00 am the next morning the crew arrived (Jay, who was very knowledgeable and friendly, and his apprentice Ryan). They told me that the camera service was $415 to run the camera down the drain pipe that was accessible from the basement. I thought that was pretty steep (which is probably why they don't give ""estimates"" over the phone) but I figured that it was worth it to use the camera rather than digging up the yard and sidewalk without even knowing where the problem might be. The camera quickly found a blockage and break in the pipe. I was told that it would cost $3500 to dig down the 3.5 feet (by hand) and repair the section of collapsed pipe. Not wanting the area to further subside while I tried to get other quotes over the next several days, I went ahead with Roto-Rooter who said that they could start then and there and complete the job the same day. As they dug down to the broken pipe, the crew came upon an old cistern/crock that was still active. Jay was very knowledgeable about the historic drain/sewer systems in town and was not phased by this discovery. It was also discovered that the 2' length of broken pipe that needed to be repaired ran from the house to the crock. Unfortunately, upon opening the crock, we discovered that it was completely full and blocked as it had not been cleared in decades. The broken pipe could not be replaced until the crock was cleaned out. Jay was very helpful in calling septic tank pumping companies in the area with me. This added approximately 2.5 hours to the job while we waited for the pumping truck to arrive. Jay, Ryan and the pumping technician worked for 45 minutes (in pretty gross condition) to clear out the crock and the drain pipes the lead to/from it. Once cleared, Jay and Ryan ran the camera down the remaining length of the underground pipe to confirm that there were no further breaks and then replaced the broken pipe and back-filled the soil. All was completed before 5pm. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience (assuming the fix holds up, of course). The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable and were determined to get the problem fixed correctly If there were any negatives, I would say (1) that the pachysandra (ground cover) that was planted next to the area where they piled the excavated dirt could have been better protected. Clearly, the plantings within the area that had to be excavated are most likely not going to survive but the plantings outside of that area could have been better protected and not buried under the heavy dirt and mud. Most of those planting that were buried were crushed and broken and will have to be replaced, and (2) some of the soil that was excavated from the repair site contained soiled ""wipes"" that were creating the obstruction inside the crock. When the job was completed and the soil replaced in the hole, a lot of that ""dirty"" soil ended up on the surface. As I'm prepping to relay the brick sidewalk, I'm finding the soil to be very hard to compact in one area. After doing a little digging in the problem area, I have come across at least a dozen wipes from the crock. I'm going to have to remove and dispose of that top layer and replace it with new soil. I'm sure this wasn't done intentionally and is the result of the ""dirty"" soil being hard to detect but I just wish they had been a little more careful when doing the final filling. Overall, I am very happy with the job and the crew and would recommend them. The job was expensive but after watching what they had to do, I'm not sure that it could have been done (well) for much less.
The Technician Gil that came out was professional in both his estimate and in the work that he did. He had a great work ethic and knowledge of the work that needed to be done, and he was extremely efficient at getting that work done. Gil has made us a repeat customer to Roto Router, if we ever need other work done. Roto Router was also very fast getting out to give us and estimate and also for the service to get done. Both times we called they were at our house 2 hours later, where other plumbers didn't even return our calls!
Jodie C.I called about a clogged toilet at 9am this morning. I was told they would be there within 2 hours. I thought that was excellent. 45 min later they told me that they would be there at 1130am. 30 mins after that they called me and said their tech had a family emergency and would let me know when they had a tech available. Are you kidding me??!! Talk about leaving the customer hanging...I immediately let them know that was unacceptable and thanked them for wasting my time. Bottom line...go Rooter Man!!!
