I called Roto Rooter out to my house on Monday, 2/26 due to a floor drain that backed up with sewage. The technician came out, attempted to auger the drain, with no luck. Sewage was coming back up the drain. I proceeded to get my shop vac to help clean up the mess, and he said he needed to remove the toilet in my bathroom so he could run a camera down the pipe to see what was going on. During that discovery, he found roots in the pipe, but the camera wouldn't go any further because something was really blocking the line. He said at that point, they would need to dig in the yard, jet the line, add 4 patches and that MSD would probably need to come out and do repairs when they were done with their work. Total cost would be $15k. Obviously, I needed to get a second opinion. I paid $1,013.10, and nothing was fixed. The tech didn't bother to try and cut the roots out of the pipe or come up with any other solutions. He just wanted me to jump on the 15k plan! I hired a different company, and they came in and cut the roots and jetted my lines for $1200. There was no digging or patching involved or needed. It's very unfortunate that Roto Rooter didn't give other options. When I called to talk to a manager, I got the runaround. I don't recommend using this company.
Replaced toilet and it was leaking within 3 Mos. Tried to schedule repair and no showed twice. End up fixing myself despite paying them over 400 dollars to do job incorrectly
Way Overpriced. Run! They charged $754 to unclog a drain. I have always used Roto Rooter in the past and had great results. Naturally I called them and I did not think to ask what they are charging because they were always reasonable... but not anymore! Thomas and Galbraith would have done it for $100. RIP OFF SCAMMERS!!!
Ron M.Very good service. I called on a Sunday because my kitchen sink was clogged. Plumber arrived and told me the price up front $441. Pricey but it's a Sunday and my regular plumber is off on the weekends. He evaluated my situation, ran an auger, left no mess - not even a drop of water, and carefully determined that my pipe was unblocked and drained properly before he left. Would I call them again? In an emergency, yes.
Roto-rooter company logo should be ""you can fool some of the people some of the time and that's enough to show a profit"".
I am filing a elder fraud complaint with the Ohio attorney's office.
Told me water line to street broken and had to be replaced, $6,800.00 for 25' line. Turned out to be a leaking coupling that cost $60.00 and one hour to install.
I scheduled an appointment to have a pipe that had frozen then busted, found and repaired. The Roto-Rooter website states that they specialize in water leak detection services if you suspect a water leak in the wall, and they provide full-service plumbing repair. The plumber arrived without any equipment to detect where the broken pipe is in the wall in order to fix it. He instead told me I'd be charged hundreds of dollars for the first hour and hundreds per hour for each additional hour to find the leak, which they'd do by cutting random holes in my walls and ceilings. Then I'd be charged hundreds of dollars per hour for labor plus parts. When I told him the website said they had water detection, he told me they stopped doing that a while ago because a customer had sued them. When I scheduled the appointment I asked if the work would be completed the same day. I was told they would have everything needed to do the work, but if necessary would finish it the next day. I was told they would definitely complete it to my satisfaction. I expected these issues to be fixed, not to have to look for another plumber. About an hour after the plumber left another Roto-Rooter person showed up saying he was a Supervisor and was just following up to see if I was satisfied. He had a wall moisture meter, but it turns out he was just checking to see if I needed water removal that he could sell me. I did not, so he told me to check with other companies regarding getting my pipes fixed as he went out the door.
Just one of my most trusted companies around! I recommended them to my son recently and they again came through!!!
Lynn V.The plumber Marian was nice. How we the charges for amount do work done was high. I had mold damage and they brought out their water restoration sales man -Aaron. Well, let's say Aaron made a lot of claims how he would work with us and they work for us, basically insinuating our insurance comoany doesn't work for us. They came out , took out bottom cabinets, took a sample of our floor and left. That was a Friday. Monday was Labor Day so of course nothing , Tuesday came and still nothing from them. Meanwhile our kitchen is all trapped up and they left us in a panic. Finally husband calls Tuesday afternoon and of course, we have asbestos tile. Nobody even called us. Had my husband not called we would probably still be waiting. They basically told us -well we are out we don't do asbestos. Gave us 1 name of a company that could help and that was it. We did get our asbestos tile removed and I literally called Aaron 3 x -no response , called Mark the manager 1 x, left 2 voicemails on the office # -no response and texted Anthony 3 x as well as called him. Anthony was only one who replied. We still had mold behind our sink that needed a small panel removed and sprayed. Finally after feeling like it was a complete battle to get a return call they came out and removed this 2 x 2 section of drywall. All they did in my basement was spray a tiny amount of mold killer. We get the bill today $2700!! The ONLY description is water restoration. I did call about the bill and I'm waiting for a return call. $2700 is absolutely insane for the very minimal amount of work they did. I will never use this company again. When you're in a moment of distress-that's when people come out to gouge your wallet.
I made an appointment online for these guys to snake my clogged sink. They came out several years ago and were on the pricey side, but provided great service. This time they kept rescheduling on me because they took emergency calls over my scheduled one. For those of you who actually were able to assess their performance in a review, congratulations, they saw fit to show up to actually serve you. Don't bother with them if you're serious about solving your plumbing problem.
Do not call rotor-rooter to clear a drain. It's a sales opportunity for them.
My daughter needed her drain cleared. Prior to even one technician showing up, a water restoration sales person shows up, to sell services. After speaking with him for a bit, she realized, he was not here to help her clear the drain.
The first technician shows up, runs an auger, and tell her she has a problem and offered solutions such as a drain sleeve. Drain not cleared.
Camera man shows up, runs camera, tells her she has a problem, offers some recommendations, none of which are to simply clear the drain.
Second technician comes, runs the auger, says he cleared it some, but she has a problem requiring more expensive services.
I rented an auger; an amateur cleared the drain.
