Firstly....even for the KC Metro Area....there are several Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Water Cleanup businesses....all with differing but predominantly negative reviews. The same ""business managers"" (not local....but from Chicago) respond to these Yelp reviews whether left here or at one of the other Yelp listed Roto Rooter businesses. Roto Rooter will (a) delay your scheduled appointment rendering you desperate once they finally arrive (b) not provide even general price quotes until they do arrive (c) over-charge substantially for services (d) instill unnecessary fear in the customer during the course of completing a simple drain clean/snake (e) suggest that the supervisor need come to provide quotes for additional but unnecessary repairs. Roto Rooters in Kansas City are running a scam. Doubt me?.....hire them and you will quickly agree. This isn't a scam run by the service technicians.....this is a corporate scam where Roto Rooter is training their techs to scam consumers. READ READ READ their reviews both here and elsewhere BEFORE you hire Roto Rooter. Save yourself and hire a local drain clearing specialist or plumber. Save yourself a LOT of time, aggravation, and money.

After being here for days, not only did they not clear the drain I paid them dearly to clear, they caused further damage by flushing a toilet before the drain was cleared. As a result of their mistake I now have 2 rooms with ruined flooring and cannot use the sink, shower, or toilet in the master suite.
I am hiring another company to take care of the drain.
Roto Rooter also pulled up part of the hardwood flooring they ruined, but left areas under the flooring they removed with splinters galore.
When they left they also left the toilet sitting on the bedroom floor!
Further, they took some personal items without my knowledge. One of many was a cane that had been my late aunt's. It cannot be replaced.
I wouldn't recommend this company. It has been an awful experience.

Total rip off! I was charged 1,213 just to change a bathtub diverter and faucet. $735 for 1 hour labor plus 30 minutes of getting the parts. For just the faucet and a piece of copper rod I was charged 478 for the parts. When I googled, the faucet just cost less than 50 dollars. He had to cut through the drywall to get into the plumbing but did not bother to put it back. Did not also clean up his mess. What a crappy job for such a price!

Called the office to report and manager said he would call back the following day but never did. Lesson learned. Always get quotes from others and stay away from this company.

Please get a second opinion before committing to their work. My tub water would not turn off and I was quoted a price of $470.00 plus parts after they looked at it for 2 seconds. Of course I said ""no"" and called another private plumber. He was in my house and had the job completed in under an hour for $125.00. I am older and live in a nice home so I don't know if they thought I was senile or what but at first when they said 470 I should have said $4.70 because that would have been closer to the truth. I don't care if I live to be over 100 this old lady cannnot be taken advantage of. The 2 guys that came were nice and I am not blaming them-it must be something they are told to do from the higher ups.

The technician was on time and competent. The customer service regarding booking was cumbersome, inefficient and rude. Their feeble attempts at amelioration after I completed their customer survey were even worse. They repeatedly called me and left a message only to put me on interminable hold each time I called back. One out of seven people I spoke to was courteous - the others were rude or disinterested. Finally some manager called and wanted to know what the technician did wrong. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE PROTOCOL EVER.

I would give Roto Rooter 0 stars if I could. They charge you for services they do not even perform, overcharge you for areas they said they cleaned and when it comes time to pay the bill and ask why its so high they can't even explain the things they did or charged to the customer. To put it simply if you call these guys you WILL get overcharged, you WILL see items on your bill they claimed they did, but did not and they will try and collect the full amount and not even care. Stay away from the BIGGEST rip off plumbing company in KC. Call a small family owned business who will actually treat you right and do what they say they will do!

Terrible terrible experience with this company.
They refused to quote a price over the phone. We needed a main line clean out which should run in the neighborhood of $120.
Technician shows up and quotes us $321.
Little did he realize he was talking to my plumber husband.
Do not use this company.

I called them on a Saturday they said they could not make it out that day but they would put me on a service call for the next day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The next day when they had not showed up by 1:30 I called back, the guy told me I wasn't scheduled for today I was scheduled for tomorrow, which was obviously completely different than what the guy told me when he scheduled the service. They told me no problem though they could fit me in before 5:30 p.m. I'm writing this review at 5:45 p.m. because I had to cancel the call because they never showed up. I called the dispatch one more time to check in on my appointment but I was told he was busy and would call me back of course he never did.

I will never do business with this company again. They are highly expensive and charge for 2 hours but the job only took 1 hour then the guy wanted to stand around and talk to make sure he gets for that extra so hour you can't say anything. Not happy at all. The next day they send out their camera guy to look to make sure the guy did his job and then wants to tell you need an additional 5200 dollars worth of work done. Worst company I have ever had to deal with. I'll be taking my business else where.

Did not bring the right equipment for the job and had to pay someone else to complete the work. Our appointment was late in the day on Friday and the technician was already on his weekend when he arrived. Good luck if you use them.
