Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I had a clog in my laundry line and they responded quickly. The issue is the technician wanted to use my hot water line to my washing machine to run water after breaking up the clog and he broke the handle off completely. I looked thru my records and they were the one's who installed that spigot. Then he moved on to the cold water and inadvertently loosened the packing nut and sprayed water. Fortunately, tightening up the nut stopped it. He then called and they were going to send a plumber out to fix it, and it sounds like they were going to charge me, but we did not get that far yet. I mentioned that I had American Home Shield and I didn't use them because the response would be to slow. The Tech told me that they actually work with them and that I could probably get some reimbursement. So, I called AHS and they said that Roto Rooter just needed to call AHS and they would work something out and also get them approved for future work. Good deal right. Wrong! I called Roto Rooter and said they would not call AHS because ""they never call Home Warranty Company."" Zero interest in helping me get reimbursement and this is after they broke the handle on my hot water line and jacked up the nut on the cold-water line. Good job on the clog, horrible customer service. The rep literally said, ""we are ok without your business."" Granted, I have used them only 4-5 times over the last ten years, but I expect better than that. So, after $377 dollars for an hour of work, I am left with a broken hot water spigot, a compromised cold water spigot, and get treated poorly. BUYER BEWARE.

Roto-Rooter addressed a root ball blocking our drain between the house and the city sewer line. The work required accessing the drain line 10 feet underground behind my neighbor's fence (under a retaining wall of railroad ties). Roto-Rooter complete the sewer repairs and then left the site with the retaining wall dismantled and the dirt pile still there. After I pointed this out, I was told I signed a release that acknowledged Roto-Rooter did not do landscaping work. I agreed that I had, but I pointed out that the job was not complete because NO ATTEMPT WAS MADE to return the site to its original condition. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Months after Roto-Rooter left, the site was returned to a much better condition (see photos) without purchasing any additional railroad ties or soil by an overweight 63year-old man with a bad knee (me!). Said they would send someone between 10-2. At 1pm they called and left a message, I called right back and they said someone would be there in 10 min. 70 min later, no one came or called. I called them back and they said since I didn't answer the first time they sent the technician somewhere else. Really frustrating.

Biggest rip-off EVER! My downstairs shower was draining slow. Service tech arrived & within 20 minutes told me he hit mud, said drain had completely collapsed & it will require extensive repair. He had his Supervisor come give a written bid & what a scam! $6,500+. Had another plumbing company come look, as well as a sewer specialist. Both said the drain had NOT collapsed & they ran a snake out 15' & to direct line. Have had so many people say what a rip-off some of the big companies are & I believe it. Don't know how a Company can have a tech & Supv be so dishonest to people. Shame on you ..talk about taking advantage, especially of the older generation. What could've been a huge expense for me ended up costing me under $150! And my shower drains fine!!

We've been having issues with our hose and we got water in our basement about a week ago.. we call roto-rooter and set up an appointment to get this looked at / fixed.. 3 times in a row they tell me they are unable to make the appointment, so I have rescheduled multiple times and get the same answer every time telling me they can't make it.. these ppl are not reliable at all.. not responsive or helpful in any situation.. the customer service is trash and extremely rude.. finally when I call to tell them I would like to cancel services with them.. all I get in response is.. okay bye... I would not recommend this plumbing company ever!

Mitch at Roto-Rooter solved two separate leak problems for us. We called about a major leak, and he figured out it was the cartridge in our Moen fixture. He was neat, clean and professional.

When there was a part failure on that replacement, he came back out, replaced it, found a separate leak, and fixed that. Again, neat, clean and professional.

Would use them again.

Roto-Rooter .... my experience was identical to Melaine A. - - - what A COMPLETE RIPPOFF !!!! Service Tech was at my home for 15 mins = $230.00. Plumbing companies in general are complete crooks, i.e. they won't give a consumer general pricing guidance over the phone for common household issues, then say ""I might as well fix while I'm here"" when you tell them to leave.

So they would not give me any kind of an indication of what it would cost to snake my sink drain over the phone. Dude came in and quoted me $300 to clear the drain line. I told him Burton plumbing and heating which I don't recommend for other reasons, has an $88 drain clearing special. And that I wasn't interested in paying $300. He left all pissy a couple of minutes later.

I snaked it myself with a $25 snake that I got from Lowe's. That's a lot of words to basically say do not call them under any circumstances

Charged 150 for them to light my pilot light. And to tell me that it's temporary fix. and it would be 1750 for a new one. Scam

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a plumber....let me explain so the ""average joe"" NEVER needs to call this company!!!!
First, they offer a ""$75 off"" offer...so, I ask how much to snake a kitchen drain. The lady states ""Oh, we don't give estimates over the phone...but, if you don't accept the estimate, there will be no charge to you"".
Great...send him over....
Guy gets here (doesn't put his shoe covers on)...looks at the kitchen sink, looks underneath the sink, goes downstairs to confirm where the drain leads to, comes back up & gives me a price of $230 & that's with the $75 off!!!!!
I said, ""You've got to be kidding me?"" This kind of job has never been over $150!!! I asked him why he was ripping me off...not screaming at him, just speaking in my normal voice.... & The guy says that he doesn't have to take this abuse!!!!
I could not believe he used the word ""abuse"" because I asked why he was ripping me off!!!
He knew he was RIPPING ME OFF just by the expression he had on his face...like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Never will I even utter the words Roto-Rooter again....
You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves!!!!
