The service requested was provided promptly! The tech came out within the hour and provided quality service at a reasonable price for an emergency service! I would highly recommend Roto-Rooter for any plumbing issues!

My sewer line backed up. I determined it was between the lawn clean-out and the sewer in the street. I didn't do any research, I just called Roto-Rooter. They came out the next day and put a snake down the drain and broke loose whatever was blocking the flow. Then they followed up with a camera inspection and the guy said he saw roots in the pipe. He then said he could clean out the roots and repair the pipe from the inside for a mere $6,600. Yes, six thousand, six hundred dollars. I asked how much just to clean out the roots and he said $2,000. My son-in-law is a master plumber in Main so I called and told him the story and he broke down laughing, saying that was outrageous. Bottom line I went to another plumber and got the job done for under $400.

I had a sewage line back up into my home causing water damage. Because this happened during the evening, I ended up calling Roto Rooter because they have after hours service. They ran a camera down my line and were certain that there was a blockage under my garage. They quoted me a price of $8,000 to dig through the garage floor and fix the pipe, or $15,000 to install an entirely new pipe. Being that I would most likely be moving for my job in a few years, I opted for the spot repair. Well, they came out with a jack hammer and tore up my garage, because they were having problems finding the pipe. I was down in the garage with them some of the time and the look on their faces/body language indicated they didn't know what they were doing. When they eventually find the pipe, NOTHING is wrong with it. They cut into the pipe and then run a camera further up the line and find the real blockage in my front yard. Then, the shady supervisor starts saying """"that'll be $5,000 more dollars or we can apply the $8,000 toward the new pipe price."""" I tell them that I'll sleep on it and possibly opt for the new pipe. After sleeping on it, I realize that I've paid these con artists $8,000 and have NOTHING fixed and my garage floor is a disaster. This is when I call two other companies out to get a second opinion and both had the same advice: - Roto Rooter grossly overcharged me - Roto Rooter should have run the camera all the way up my sewage line to find the real blockage - Roto Rooter lied about me having """"old, metal pipes,"""" because they're PVC I then make the decision to hire a smaller company who was awesome and quoted me $3500 out the door to fix the yard and install a runoff in the yard. I also make the decision to challenge the charge from Roto Rooter through my credit card company. Once Roto Rooter gets wind of this, two of their supervisors call me and tell me I'm a low life and that I'm trying to steal from them (I ended up having to block their numbers because of the harassment and foul language they kept using during the phone call). Their manager, Brian, fights me tooth and nail over email saying they showed me a broken pipe under my garage (not true at all). Brian, the manager, continued to argue that they were in the right and NEVER offered anything to make the situation better. In the end, my credit card company credited me my money back and I'm assuming Roto Rooter lost $8,000 (very gratifying). I was able to provide lots of written evidence of how Roto Rooter tried to screw me to the credit card company. **** To the customer service manager who will be reading this (Mr. Swanson)... you'll probably remember the email I sent to you, so before you ask for me to email you back and forth, just go through your emails and you'll find where I sent you my complaint ****

This is the only rotor rooter that came up for the area. I called this company after a leak in my garage. They sent me someone whose English was so bad that he couldn't even fill out the estimate because he didn't know how to write the words. They charged me for everything when they said the trip was free. He cut a hole in my wall, saying the leaks over there then he said no the leaks over there, he wanted to jackhammer my floor without calling a leak finding company. He didn't even tell me that I could turn off the hot water and still flush my toilet. It just was a horrible experience. It was the worst, and every time I called the people on the phone were sarcastic, Tina talked all over me and Sharon was condescending, didn't listen and said she would have a manager call me back and never did The only people to call me were people who wanted to make money off of me. Three hours later no call back. I'm done with these people forever. They are the worst. UPDATE: within five minutes of me posting this, somebody was responding sounding all compassionate until I looked back at all of the other complaints and realized they just copy and paste that statement in there for all of their complaints. Everybody there was nice, but it was just so disorganized. The left hand just does not know what the right hand is doing. It was very frustrating. I will say this, however, the leak was where the rotor rooter guy said it was.

I repeat do not use this service. I called them when I had a sewer back up in my house from my main floor toilet. The plumber overcharged me for a scope to find the problem. He charged 1100 dollars when he could've told me to have the county come out to do the Job. He then quoted me 14k to fix the sewer line outside. Thank god it was a county problem. He was also making strange comments to my kid about if he had a girlfriend when he's only 8th grade. I am more than pissed off at this place with the price and the scumbag plumber. The guy is lucky I didn't lay him out I was that pissed but took the high road. Other services charge a quarter of the price I paid.

Just an update. The same ceiling area started leaking again and Roto Rooter plumbing said they were only responsible for snaking the drain even though they saw the ceiling leaking, it had to be torn out and the pipes were exposed for 6 weeks by their Water guys. Roto Rooter Water Mitigation said they were only responsible for drying the leak. No one accepted responsibility for fixing the leak. Truly a clown show.

Do not go by the reveiws on their website, because they do not reflect the quality of service you'll get. They don't show up when they're suppose to, call you all hours of the night and cancel appointments without notice. They also make it very difficult to post reviews and have no local address on their invoices. Please avoid this company at all cost or live to regret it. If there was a rating below 1 star they would definitely qualify. I trusted them because of their long business history, but I assure you their quality of care is not the same and is appalling to bare the name of a company that used to be good. If I weren't a Christian my word selection would be much different, because everything I experienced with this company has been enough to make me lose my religion. I pray that you spare yourself the huge inconveniece of being serviced by this company, for any reason.

I called them on a Sunday at 1:00 for a 2 year old water heater that wasn't getting hot. They gave me a 4 hour window. At 5:00 they called to say they were running behind and would not tell me when they would come. I called them at 6:30 and they said the same thing. At 8:00 I called them again to get the same response. I asked for a Supervisor and he said they would be there before 12:00. At 9:30 the tech and assistant arrived and said he didn't know why it was not getting hot and that had nothing on his truck to fix it anyway. Horrible way to do business and horrible customer service. The Tech said the owners are in Chicago and they really don't care about about the business.

Situation: All sinks, toilets, etc quit draining. There is a plumber that our condo association uses that does great work at reasonable prices who I tried to call but could not reach. I wanted service right away and so called several others before being able to get one to come same day. The good: Roto-Rooter was able to come in about an hour. The service man was nice enough. He diagnosed tree root clog in the main line (even before inspecting) scoped, routed, and cleared it. The bad: He estimated $753 before doing the work, afterward he wanted to charge $1119 claiming extra work needed (hazy explanation as to what it was), when I questioned further he discounted the charge to $951. He told me the pipe was broken and would need to be excavated and replaced for estimate of $6200 saying I needed to do it within a week or it would clog again especially if I flushed any toilet paper. I later contacted the plumber our association uses regarding doing the pipe replacement. He came out to evaluate, ran a scope, told me Roto-Rooter had done a minimal job and had way overcharged, did a more complete routing of the pipe, told me not to worry anymore about reclogging and will be doing the pipe replacement for much less then Roto-Rooter's quote. I do not recommend using Roto-Rooter unless you are in a real bind and have no other option.

Our plumbing backed up last year. We called roto-rooter for emergency service. We were promised someone between 5 and 9 PM. At 9:30 PM, roto-rooter called and said unfortunately they no longer had a technician available. I left a complaint with management, who indicated that this was not acceptable and that they would reach out to the local team to have it rectified. Now, a year later, we are in a new home and have another backup. I decided to try them one more time. Well, they are 0 for 2. They promised a technician was available within 2 hours. A little over an hour later, they called back and AGAIN cancelled. Do NOT waste your time with roto-rooter if you have an emergency plumbing issue.
