Avoid ANY Roto Rooter service!! They are rip-offs! My Roto rooter rep put a claim for my ceiling to be repaired for $3000!! However, when I received another estimate, it was 10 times less than what RR gave me. I checked their reviews, and there were many complaints for this company. Call a local plumber, or get another recommendation from Yelp or a friend. You'll save some $$.

Roto-Rooter provided very good service. Both the people with whom I talked on the phone and the service technician were professional and courteous. However, $380 to unclog a disposal is outrageous.

I have use Roto-Rooter for longer than I care to remember, always with a positive result. Price was always a bit high, but, the service was good. This time, however, the franchisee that came out found reasons to charge $920.00 for about 2 hours labor. In addition to this charge I thought he must have, at one time or other, been a time share salesman or a used car salesman as he tried to up sell me on a new sewer line which has recently been replaced. Very, very, hard sell! I agreed to the price only because I felt there was no other recourse at the time. Needless to say, my calls will be to someone else next time.

We initially tried calling plumbers we had used in the past, but none were available so we called Roto-Rooter. They sent Michael out quickly. Michael was great! He got things working again. Unfortunately, the fix was temporary and we had to have Michael back out as it turned out, something was actually broken rather than just stuck. It was a little tricky to get Michael back as they sent others (one of whom wanted to replace the whole pump, which we knew did not need replacing) first who were not able to get to the bottom of the issue. Once Michael came back, he was able to replace the broken part easily (for him...not something I could ever do myself) and now everything is working just as it should. He also took care of some other plumbing issues we had in the house that same day. Mike was terrific!! I will definitely use him again.

The technician arrived promptly at our home. He was polite, professional and knowledgeable. He was able to solve the problem in less than an hour. We would hire them again without hesitation. One of the best plumbers we ever had come to our home.

Returned home to find that our kids had accidentally clogged toilet and it overflowed into the lower levels of the house before they figured out how to turn off the water. Called Roto-Rooter and they had a plumber who was there within 90 min around rush hour on a weeknight. The charge was worth it in that we had time to get the house put back together with a working toilet before dad came home later that night.

Worst. Called friday, they said they will be in 4 hrs. But they kept calling my wife's number instead of my number. I rescheduled for Saturday morning. They gave me time window of 9 to 11. I had to call tgem at 11:30 and they finally came at 12. For just kitchen drain clearing they gave me estimate of $405. So i said forget it and looked up Horizon on the web. They said they have open slot 9 to 11. They came at 11 and fixed it for $199 with $25 coupon. Total cost was $175. Roto is a ripoff. I recommend Horizon.

Last time we ever call Roto Rooter! We had flooding in our basement that turned out to be from clogged pipes. Was originally told by the operator that we would have a tech within an hour. After we hung up, we received a call from another operator that stated we were given the wrong time estimate, and it would be 2-4 hours. Since it was heavy rain that night, I let it go. A tech, Moss, finally came about 4 hours later. After surveying the basement, he did assure it was clogged pipes. He then told my husband and I that he would snake the drain, as well as contact an associate for cleanup after that would cost a TOTAL of $465. We both even asked Moss individually if the clean up for the basement was factored into the cost, and he stated YES. After about 20 minutes, he snaked the line and contacted Ed, who would be out to clean up the basement. In addition to the $465 I put on my credit card, I also gave him a tip because I felt bad it was pouring rain outside. Approximate 2 hours later (now 11:45pm) Ed called me stating he could still come out. However, he was 30 minutes away and clean up would take 30-45 minutes. He stated he could come back tomorrow, to which I accepted since it was already late.

The next day I left work over 2 hours early to meet Ed at the house. He was 40 minutes late, due to traffic. He surveyed the damage downstairs and then explained to me how it ""worked"". Basically the cleanup is an ADDITIONAL fee to which he estimated $3500-4000?!?!?. When I said that Moss stated clean up was included, he apologized and said Moss must have misspoke. Really???? I wonder how many times that has happened. Ed also made it seem like it was no big deal because we can go through our insurance. Well we would be out of pocket at least $1000 plus our premiums going higher due to the large claim, so that is a big deal to us , especially when we were told it was all included in what we paid already. I should have looked up these reviews prior to calling. Needless to say, we found another company through our insurance company that quoted us way less. Thank you Roto Rooter for cheating yet another customer.

Took two days of vacation and not one of those days did Roto Rooter show up. They had me scheduled for a Thursday and called Wednesday afternoon and moved it to Friday. I waited all day for them on Friday and finally they called to say they are re-booking me for next week. NO WAY ROTO-ROOTER. There are to many other reliable plumbs out there. Never again will I even think about using Roto-Rooter.

A guy came because my dishwasher wasn't draining. He discovered it had stopped draining automatically because of a citrus rind that was stuck in the garbage disposal. I groaned, I thought I'd still have to pay for the visit. But I didn't! He said don't worry about it and left. What a nice surprise - I'd call them again.
