Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

On a Sunday afternoon a branch line backed up and dumped about 8 gallons of water into our basement. After calling 3 different plumbers to come out and run a snake only 1 called back and recommended calling Roto-rooter. So we did and within hours a friendly tech, James T. 3117 came, ran the snake and cleared the line, showed me all of the clean outs and how to check a main line vs the branch line and I was all set. Did it cost a small chunk of change? Yes, but who wants discharged waste water all over the place..... Worth every penny! It is a great feeling knowing that at anytime of the week Roto-rooter is there to help get you out of a bind... Or clog within hours!

Just needed the drain under my kitchen sink replaced. It was rusted out. The quote was over $300. The labor cost was outrageous. I'll just get a plumber next time. But I will have to say that the person that did come was courteous, was prompt, explained everything to me, and knowledgable. My big complaint was the cost.

Another great experience with Roto-Rooter! Gil, a licensed plumber as all R-R are, was helpful and professional, explaining exactly what had to be done and why, and what the charges would be and why. Took care of the required permit. Once again R-R turned disaster into salvation. Despite calling during a heavy snowstorm, I had hot water again within less than 24 hours. I will use them again and have recommended them to others.

Very friendly customer service. Ease & scheduling of appointments is excellent. The worker showed up on time, very friendly, helpful, knowledgable etc.. We had purchased a new kitchen faucet & had Roto Rooter install it. That is all of the labor--$399!!! Seems rather steep of a price for installation of a faucet.

I can't stress enough just how horrible these people treated me or how bad of a job they did. First they charged $650 for a $200 snake job. Then they tried to get me for another $1200 to jet the pipe and even tried to sell me an $8000 job that I didn't need. No warranty and I had a flood within a week. In addition, they left the toilet and pipes in disrepair and in violation of RI code. I called Wood's Rooter Services that came in, and when they recovered from the shock of how Roto-Rooter left it, jetted, snaked and scoped the pipe for $395. Full warranty. No problems since. Is there anything less than one star?

UPDATE!!! Roto-Rooter contacted me and gave me a full refund. I commend them and the poor girl that had to talk to both me, a very unwilling and hostile customer, and her bosses in order to resolve this issue. Her good nature stopped me from hanging up the phone when she first identified herself.

Summary...

The quality of work remained poor without apology.

The prices remain about three times that of comparable local companies.

They went out of their way to contact me and give me a full refund, but it was not until I posted a negative review. They knew well in advance of that that I was not happy and they would not have otherwise attempted resolution.

For these reasons, I've changed my rating from 1 star to 2.

I gave them 2 stars because they told me I needed new outside pipes to the street and the cost $5800.00 , they did a great job cleaning the clog in the pipes charged me $ 670.00 which is more than I thought after reading about their flat rate deals.So I called another service and was old the pipes were ok and the problem was roots grew into the pipes and they cut them out .

I made an appointment with roto-rooter for sometime between 8a-12p on Monday. This was an annoyingly large window but not unexpected. I stayed home that morning and then was called and told that they would not be able to get to me until the afternoon. So I stayed home for the afternoon as well. Then partway through the afternoon they called and said that they would not be able to send someone at all that day, would I like to make an appointment for another day?

I called Roto Rooter on Sept.24th 2015 and explained to the secretary that my bathroom faucets didn't work and that my pantry faucet was dripping and when a Roto-Rooter worker named Edwin came to my house he told me it would cost over $600 to fix the problem and kept making it a point of telling me to call a Handyman because it would be cheaper.However every Plumber we called gave the same estimate over the phone so I think it was more laziness on Edwin's part than being afraid of charging me for any work done! I'm having a Plumber who wants to work from another company come tomorrow!
