Kazi S.I was having issues with my sump pump in the basement. It was previously replaced by a Roto rooter technician, so I wanted the same people to come and resolve the issue. The best part about this business is that they are convenient and reliable. When I contacted them about the issue, they were willing to send someone immediately. This wasn't a one time thing either. They had someone available for 4 different occurrences. They are even open on the weekends.
The technician came and diagnosed the issue and quickly found a solution for it. They are fast and efficient. I recommend them for emergencies as well. I will be going with them for future jobs as well!
Vern G.We had a water leak in our house, which cause from ceilings and walls on all 3 levels. I called Roto-Rooter's Manchester, CT office with a cold call, as I did not know of plumbers in the area. Someone was at our house within an hour of call. Both the person who fixed the leak (Junior) and the person supervising the mitigation process (Jay) were extremely professional and competent. Their entire team had necessary COVID-19 precautions throughout the entire time, and were in and out of house in a few hours. While there, they join me in my call with insurance claims and adjuster and helped me through that process. Hopefully, we will not need their services again, but if so, I will immediately call them!
Stephanie B.Tech Jeremiah fixed my leaking shower by fixing the knob but only once I asked again at the end about the warranty told me that it was a temporary fix and that his boss would only allow 2-3 fixes with the warranty. This repair cost me $575. I then asked how much it would be to replace all of the fixtures in the shower and he said $1000. It angered me that he did not tell me until the end that it was a temporary fix. I am not a plumbing expert and that is why I called roto-rooter because I did not know what was wrong/how bad the situation was. If he explained this up front I would have just asked to have everything replaced for $1000. I spoke to the tech soon after telling him I should have done it all and asked if there was anything he could do. He said that he could give me a 10% discount on labor. I then asked how much that would be exactly and he said he would call me back. He never called me back. I plan to upgrade soon and I will not chose roto rooter. Especially in current times, I feel very robbed by this company and I was 100% taken advantage of. If you know nothing about plumbing, don't go to this company because they WILL take advantage of you.
I was very happy how fast the tech was able to come out to my house. I was not happy about the price because it was just a diagnosis and work was not completed. The manager responded to my concerns right away. The tech was also very professional.
Bonnie H.I want to warn other homeowners to not use Roto Rooter at New State Road in Manchester for your plumbing needs. The following story is creepy and upsetting at best and possibly warranted a call to the police at one point. They charged us $500 to do a simple root clear out which lasted only 1 week. A week later the same problem occured and we called again. That night as we were waiting for the plumber, their sales manger who's first name starts with an S and ends with a Y showed up at our home unannounced to get us to sign a credit check in order to open a line of credit for work that had not actually been determined we needed done yet. He upset my son, and freaked out my dog. What a shady business practice. I thought we were actually talking to the plumber but Roto Rooter customer service called my phone while this salesperson was standing there and told me the plumber was on his way. I said, no he is here. The customer service lady freaked out and said NO one of our plumbers is not in your house and she doesn't know who that is!? Unsure of what was happening I asked him who he was and that is when the BIG sales pitch started. For the record we were told we needed to pay 6,500 to have a contractor dig a trench in our yard and replace our sewer system immediately. Upon a call to our water supplier it was determined we did not in fact need to get this done. It has been a month and we have had no issues thanks to another plumber. Please do yourselves a favor and use any other plumbing company before this one. Also please call your water supplier if you have one for help when you find yourself in the same boat. If I can help one person with my review I have done well, in my book.
Luke N.Company performance doesn't match previous reviews at all; very friendly office staff and technicians. The new management clearly knows what they're doing, as my issue was taken care of in a more timely manner than I'd imagine any other company in the same field would have been able to manage. Very very satisfied.
Three stars for being responsive. A call on Sunday night 8:30pm and they arrive 8:30 Monday morning.
Would have been more stars but for the cost. Nearly 3x the amount I have paid my usual drain company who was unavailable this time. $800 for a 45 minute job to unclog the main sewer line of tree roots. I'll never use them again.
Ca M.their website states: ""Fix it Right the First Time with an Expert Plumber You Can Count On""
That is not what actually happens when you hire Roto-Rooter.
My tenant called Roto-Rooter in June to fix a leak in her basement.
The technician stated on his bill: ""repaired leak... rest of pipe should be replaced in that area somebody put a rubber patch on line""
What he did exactly was to cut out one inch of pipe with a hole in it to replace it with a brass connector.
Not an expert plumbing repair: he just put a connector over it.
He cut it up to the rubber repair part.
Replacing the unskilled handyman rubber repair (clearly disaster waiting to happen) would have required replacing 2 inches of pipe instead of replacing just the 1 inch with the hole.
I paid $326 for a repair that any normal technician would have been ashamed to make: they 'repair' it to make sure to be called again soon.
Paid over $100 for them to come and take a look at my water heater. 5 minutes! Gave me a price of $2000 to replace a small electric water heater - more than double what Angie's list cites as an expected price. Called another company and they're replacing it for $800. These people have priced themselves right out of the market. Used to use them but won't anymore
This is in regards to the Roto-Rooter with an address of P.O Box 70 in Manchester,CT 06045. I will give them 1 star due to the fact I was grateful that they came out the next day after I called with a basement flood in late July. The clean-up process began, but I wasn't given a copy of what I even signed. They fought with my house insurance company about the total cost, and luckily my insurance talked them down in negotiations over $8,000. Unfortunately, the house insurance delayed our payment to Roto-Rooter as it was in an escrow account at the bank, and then there was a math error and we weren't paid enough to pay them back fully. This is where the major trouble started. A man with the initials of SC, a General Manager with a business card of P.O. Box 439 in Berlin, CT 06037 has come to our house twice. I can provide dates and times if needed. Both times were unexpected, he came to the door fast, not sure if he was armed or not, yelling at my husband and I that we have the money but are hiding it. He has threatened to put a lien on my home. He also said he would get an arrest warrant and put me in jail. He wants me to post date checks that he will hold onto. The first time he came into my living room. I have a rescue dog that was from the streets and we were lucky to hold him before he bit the man. The second time he came to the door, my husband met him outside at the front steps as our daughter was home. My 10 year old daughter was scared of the man and not sure why he was yelling at her father. As a mother of three, I feel it is now my duty to give this negative review so this doesn't happen to other people. I am afraid this man will come back and I don't know what to do, but currently looking at how I can keep my children safe. Anyone who is a parent will understand that. Thank you for your time.
