Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I agree with many of the other customers - this company is ineffective and overpriced. I called them to replace a toilet fill valve that had failed. They charged a high price to do 1/2 of the work required and did not even replace the water line to the toilet - which was dangerously close to failing!!! They subsequently returned to my home three additional times - by three different guys - and was informed the opening between the tank and bowl needed to be replaced - at a cost of approximately another $200.00. I told them to forget it. I subsequently called Roto Rooter to request a refund since a solution was nowhere in site - which I just received this week. I also contacted a new plumber who repaired the toilet the first time and at a lower cost than Roto Rooter on the first trip.

The lesson learned from my experience with Roto Rooter is this company is expensive and ineffective - avoid them at all costs.

We had a blockage at our washing machine, slop sink. Definitely needed to be addressed Sunday AM. Yes, of course we know it costs at least 2X normal plumber service call, but that's life on a Sunday. Overall great experience. Came promptly and fixed the situation. Was very professional and courteous.

I agree 100% with all of the many customers that called Roto-Rooter a 'rip off'. They came to my house to snake a sewer line that was leaking. They charged over $500 for a job that most other plumbers would charge $200 for. They then tried to sell me a cleanup service for my very mildly wet basement for $1,500. Then the plumber on site told me that my main valve broke and that I would need to call my town and have them shut off the water coming into my house and that it would cost me thousands of dollars to repair. Only after lots of screaming he tapped lightly on the valve and miraculously everything was fine. Scammers. Rip-off artists. I highly recommend you stay away from this company.

I called Roto Rooter in Mamaroneck when I smelled sewage smell in my kitchen sink. They came out and told me they would have to jet blast and take a video camera of my lines. They told me I had no clean out valves (which I found out was simply not true when I called another company to come redo the camera work that Roto Rooter refused to give me the disc for. See picture attached of my completely full clean out valve that they lied about doing the work on). They charged me $1476 for the jet blasting and camera work which turns out is 3x as much as other companies in the area would charge for my property with a long line to the street. They told me that the line was clean but that I'd need to replace a crushed pipe at the end and quoted me $19,995 to do the work. The guy waited tapping his pencil as if he expected me to start the work without getting a second opinion or seeing what other companies would charge. When I asked for my camera work on a disc (which is standard when you have camera work done), they said it is not their policy as they do not want you to be able to take the camera work in order to get other opinions / quotes on the job. They said those exact words. They expected me to take their word for it and just shell out $20K with no thought or comparing. But that's not even the worse part. Pretty much a day later, I noticed the sewage smell again and found out from the new company I had out that the line was completely full. I don't think they even did the jetblasting work that they overcharged me for. When I called to discuss my experience with the managers of the company, they didn't call me back at all, until finally I was able to speak to Anthony (not sure his role in the company), but he was rude and repeated that he would not be giving me my camera work as he did not want me to bid out the $20K job. They charge way more than other companies, will not give you what you pay for, and in my case, did not even do the work they said they did. One of the worst plumbing experiences I've ever had. They are a large company with a big advertising budget which makes you think they must be reputable but that is simply not true. Their service is subpar, this particular location is not honest, and there are way better companies out there. Try Emergency Sewer & Drain Service in White Plains. I noticed another reviewer mentioned using them instead of this sham of a company and so I called them. They were very honest and forthright, and proposed a much less expensive solution than what Roto Rooter in Mamaroneck tried to swindle me into. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Such a ripoff! We got our sewer line cleared last year using w/ another company that charged us $175 and recommended we re-line our pipes for a cost of $2k-3k. We call Roto-Rooter this year as our drain was backing up into the basement & we were too stressed to research who we used last year (it was TopNotch Sewer & Drain BTW... give THEM your business). They charged us $500!! And their quote for re-lining the pipes was $8,800!! The tech tried to freak me out too by saying do NOT do laundry or run your dish washer b/c your basement will flood. Way to take advantage of homeowners during a stressful time. We're a single income family with young children so every penny counts for us but seems like they really don't care.

Roto Rooter came today and the plumber Kyle was outstanding professional and polite! I've been using them for 19 years just found out our regular RR plumber passed away. Kyle took his place looking forward to another 19 yrs of outstanding service

Yuck. What could be worse than a backed up sewer and why does it seem like events like this happen on weekends or holidays?!? Well, on Saturday, 9/30/2017 my sewer backed up and I knew that the only way to get this resolved quickly would be to call Roto-Rooter. Russell showed up within an hour, as promised, and snaked out my main drain. You get what you pay for and with that said I recommend Roto-Rooter for fast and reliable service when you need it most.

After calling a plumbing company who wanted to charge me 130 dollars just to show up at our home I decided to call roto rooter. Within an hour Kyle was in my driveway and after 5 mins had diagnosed our problem. After giving us a fair price he got to work. 30 mins later our problem was gone. He was prompt and courteous and very knowledgeable. He saved us. Keep up the good work.
