Recommended Customer Reviews

Not sure what specific Roto Rooter location whom to direct this review to, but I believe it is an Anaheim location.
A week ago, I was not able to turn my fireplace off (it was lit), so I was advised to call the FD out. They ended up shutting off the main gas to the house off, stating that it was a ""stripped valve"", until I could get it fixed.
The next day, I called Roto Rooter due to the fact they also allegedly dealt with gas issues.
They sent their trained ""gas technician"". He came and inspected the fireplace for the ""valve"" issue. It turns out that the ONLY ISSUE was that the fireplace key was not positioned on the valve properly (slipped off the valve stem when my niece tried to shut the fireplace off). A completely SIMPLE FIX, NO parts or labor, took him all of 5 minutes to put the key back on the valve.
He then relit my water heater and held his hand up to a ceiling vent to ensure hot air was coming out. He was out at my property approximately 50 minutes.
Again, ABSOLUTELY NO PARTS OR LABOR, but he charged me $460.00 SIMPLY JUST TO PUT THE FIREPLACE KEY BACK ON TNE VALVE AND LIGHT THE WATER HEATER PILOT (which I could have easily done)!!!!!'
So $460 JUST TO SIMPLY RESEAT A FIREPLACE KEY ON THE VALVE!!!!! HE NEVER GAVE ME A QUOTE, OR INDICATION THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED THIS OUTRAGEOUS, COMPLETELY UNJUSTIFIED AMOUNT!!!!' I WOULD HAVE NEVER ALLOWED HIM TO TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!'
I recognize that he should be compensated something, but certainly NOT $460 for NO WORK!!!!!!' This is absolutely taking advantage and way overcharging, which I feel is extremely dishonest.
Mike from the Anaheim office tried to tell me that it was for his ""experience"", I told him no work or estimate was ever provided. He said he would talk to his technician and get back to me. To date, I have not heard from him.
This is corrupt and wrong!!!
This was supposed to be a ""free inspection"" and I would be given a quote to do any work that was required. If I would have been told upfront that I was going to

The gist: I was charged $467 for a service I did not receive, and when I talked to Management about it, he gave a me attitude and did not refund even half of the amount I was charged. I think they believe they are too big to fail and therefore do not need to maintain a respectable level of customer service.
The rest: I called them because I had intermittent slow drainage of my bathtub. Jesse came and snaked the drain, and nothing came out, no hair or anything that would clog the pipe. He ran the water for several minutes, and it drained normally, so he asked me about how long it usually takes to back up. I said it was only occasional, at which time he suggested that the problem wasn't the bathtub drain at all and it was probably the main sewer line. He said hard water build up can cause scaling in the main line, which will cause toilet paper to occasionally get stuck and slow the drainage of all of the drains in the house. We ran a camera through the main line for $467, saw moderate scaling, assumed that was the problem, paid $4800 to have it descaled, and no longer have a drainage issue, which means he was correct; the problem was not the bathtub drain. Despite that, the invoice stated he ""restored flow to the bathtub drain"" and charged me $467 (separate from the main line camera fee). How could he ""restore flow"" when he himself said there was nothing slowing the flow and asked how long it usually takes to back up? How could he claim to restore flow when he didn't remove anything blocking the bathtub line because there wasn't anything there to remove? Management (Don) did not accept that logic and only begrudgingly refunded me $200, so I still had to pay $267 for nothing. Accordingly, this review is posted on multiple sites and all of my neighbors now know how Roto operates.
