janie H.Very disappointed. We called in the morning and was told we would be put on the noon to 4 PM slot. People did call and indicate they were running late. Somebody called at four, and said they were still running late, but by 7:45 PM nobody had arrived and nobody had called. I called the Roto Rooter number, and was told that they had no technician available. I think this is bad business to lead a customer on, and not call and simply say that they are sorry and don't have anybody to do the work. I understand that emergencies arise, but this was a little out of control.
Shunit H.Called for service on a weekend, they came in within an hour!
Jim was very professional and fixed a mainline blockage efficiently and with a smile. Highly recommended!
Rachael G.I called at 9: 00 am for an overflowing bathroom sink and they said the soonest they would be available was 5-9pm same day. Once 9:00 pm rolled around I had already called for updates 2 times and was given the same line, the next rep would assist us. It wasn't until 2: 00 am that we saw a plumber and at that point the water damage became irreversible.

I did a really silly thing and flushed a sponge down the toilet as I was cleaning for a house full of company for the 4th of July. Knowing I would need all available toilets for my company, I searched YELP for what I thought would be my best solution. They showed up within an hour, which was great, assessed and fixed the problem within 5 minutes and charged me a whopping $245. I was sick when, the technician gave me the estimate, but trusted the company and reviews on YELP, so approved the work. Of course, for that price, I assumed they would have to do a considerable amount of work outside my realm of capability. When he completed the task within 2 minutes, I was a bit surprised and rather sick to my stomach that I had paid him $245 cash. He said the regular charge would be $195 if I waited until Tuesday...after the 4th of July. (not how they advertise). Again, trusting the name of the company, I made the decision to have the task completed.
Most disturbing is that the technician sat outside my house for a considerable amount of time after the job was completed and payment collected. This prompted me to finally call the company back and complain about the price and that the technician was still outside my house. They were very receptive to my call and within a few minutes the technician was back at my door apologizing for over charging me. He claimed that this was not his regular work day and though he had been working for Roto Rooter for 15 years, he was surprised. They adjusted the charge by $50, which still left me paying $195 for 5 minutes of service (no parts of physical labor required).
Still unhappy, and feeling quite duped, I decided to check into a local company just to see what the standard might be. Thorsen's plumbing quoted me over the phone (which Roto Rooter would not do), $89.00 per hour with a minimum of 1 hour. Still less than half of what I paid Roto Rooter. I also checked on the internet for a standard in the industry....$45-65 per hour.... Needless to say, I feel completely taken advantage of and frustrated that I had to pay this amount of money.
I would never recommend this company for any work ever! An expensive lesson learned!!
I'm going to keep this brief. I was skeptical when I called up Roto-Rooter for help with a plumbing project. I've never had a plumbing issue before like I was having. I saw the positive reviews on Yelp and so I called Roto-Rooter. Making an appointment was easy. The person who answered the phone was helpful and straight forward. I set up an appointment for the next morning. The plumber showed up on time. Super-nice guy. And really helpful. He diagnosed the problem quickly; gave me my options; and applied no pressure with regard to the decision I had to make. I could go into more details, but suffice it to say that my experience with the Roto-Rooter plumber exceeded my expectations. I think his name was Timothy.
i called in an emergency - house full of family for the week + clogged waste line
they had a guy out within an hour
he needed help and another guy (a manager) showed up quickly
they fixed the problem, offering options that could save cost
they found clean-outs i didn't know were there for next time
courteous, professional and helpful
all in all a very positive experience
Michael came out at eight a.m. on Sunday and fixed our emergency. He was really fast and very nice--this is the second time in a year Roto-Rooter has been out, and both times prompt and not that expensive.
Our kitchen sink plugged up last night after we accidentally put pasta down the disposal. After trying some home remedies, including snaking, we called Roto Rooter late today. They said that it would be no problem getting a plumber out to assess the situation. We had already pulled the dishwasher out to gain access to the cleanout, so it was just a matter of running a snake through it again. Jesus came over on his last run of the night, and he was still friendly and patient as we made our case for a reduced price since we had prepped the site for him. He discussed this with his manager and came back with a fair price and we agreed to have him perform the work. He snaked the drain and took care not to spray all over the kitchen. When he was done unclogging the drain, he removed his tools and returned with a clean towel and cleaning solution to wipe the floor where his machine had been. We'd highly recommend Jesus if you need a friendly, conscientious plumber. I'm taking off one star because the dispatcher was not accurate with her communication, so I waited 3 hours from the time she said the plumber was on his way.
Cecilia Chen Z.I called 3 times and every time my phone got cut off. I have to repeat my address zip code 3 times to the same person.
I called again and then just want to make sure I'm not schedule since the service is really not professional. A guy picked up and I told him the reason I called
Later he used a Nyc number to call me back to say I was dealing with franchise but not Corp. So the bad service is nothing to do with them. However, when I call 650 the CA number again, the same guy picked up the phone again.
So fake and try to deny their bad service. It's the worst service I have seen in Cali
Audrey H.Our sewage backed up in our basement shower. We live on a hill with lots of trees and have a couple sewage outlets on the property. It can be confusing. Bill Shelton remedied the problem very quickly and showed me the problem areas and explained to me what was going on. It was refreshing to have someone experienced and knowledgeable doing the job. He's definitely a pro! Now we have an ingredient that will be killing the roots (not the trees) so they won't be choking our
plumbing.
