We noticed our pool deck area drains in the back yard were backing up with the rain. While I was at work, my wife called Roto-Rooter on a Saturday and asked for some help unclogging them. They sent one plumber out by himself. We discussed the problem over the phone and he realized that they had been there before. Our drainage has two outlets. One goes to the street. One goes to the water runoff drain behind our lot. The last time they were there, they could only get one open, but the plumber was unsure which. He said it would be $1850 up front for them to make an attempt with a high pressure water jet and that he could not guarantee results. Having no real alternative, I agreed.

When I got home two hours later, the plumber was packing up and his truck was running. He shook his head and said he had tried to get the runoff to the street open and ended up running into solid dirt. The pipe was likely broken and there was no way to fix it. When I asked him about the other outlet, he asked ""what other outlet"" as if we never discussed it on the phone. I walked him into the back yard and showed him where it was. He took the high pressure jet into the back yard and had that outlet open in about 20 minutes.

He then started packing his things again. I had to stop him a second time and ask him to take some time to check and clear all the connected drains in the back yard. He unclogged most of the drains with a couple exceptions, but then he never cleared the mud that was now in the outlet from clearing the remaining drains, leaving some standing water on the way out. It works, but it's sub optimal.

It's almost $2000. Can you do a good job? The plumber was courteous and professional, but didn't seem to want to take the time to figure out what was actually wrong and didn't really take any pride in the work. I bet they are understaffed and he had multiple other jobs to do that day. I'm sure he sees very little of that money.

Why does pushing a spray hose into a drain for a few hours cost $2000 Roto-Rooter?

Go with someone local who owns their business and will do a good job for a more reasonable price if you can.

They were able to get the clog out of my sink but the price was extremely high.
I had to have it done and it was hard for the company to find someone else to do it.
Overall I though they did well on it. They didn't know what caused it and they made a mess in the kitchen. To his credit he tried to clean it up but wasn't great.

On this Sunday evening after I washed the dinner dishes, the water did not drain out of the kitchen sink. As we have two separate sinks...one for pots and pans and a different one for dishes and glasses and cups, I checked the other sink and IT was not draining either. We call RotoRooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup and Eddie V drove all the way to Rancho Santa Fe to clear our drains because the street in front of our home is being seal coated on Monday and Tuesday and we would not be able to have plumbing repairs until Wednesday. I could not stand having no working kitchen sinks until some time on Wednesday and when I was told he was coming I was thrilled. He arrived about 9 pm, opened the p traps, checked the drains and the connections, vacuumed out the standing water, ran a large ""snake"" tool through each side and by 11PM he had cleaned up the areas around the sinks, tended to the invoicing and was back in his truck headed back to Escondido. I was thrilled and immediately went to Facebook to tell everyone how happy I now am because of Eddie V and his willingness to work on a Sunday night!! Thanks RR Plumbing & Water Cleanup...I really appreciate you! Great customer service and surprisingly reasonable rates and have a one year guarantee on the work! Wow!

Charged me $1,550 to ""fix"" a shower leak on a Sunday. Plumber didn't have the parts so he went to Home Depot 3 miles away, gone for 1 1/2 hours. The leak continued the next day. Plumber came out twice again and wanted to ""cut into the ceiling and wall to explore"" hoping to find the leak, I said no. Had to hire another plumber to come out and fix Roto Rooters mistakes. $1,550 was an extreme over charge for not fixing the original leak... contacted Roto Rooter and filed a complaint against the plumber... will update review

Charged me almost $1000 to rod one sink and one main line. 1.5 hours for $1000. Plus he put his hand Prints all over the place left his garbage on the floor and filled my sink up full of debris on a sink that he did not work on. I will never let my company send these Jack butts out again. Totally unprofessional.

Roberto and Jamie came out today and they were great! Clean, polite and thorough..I would recommend them to anyone in need. Jamie took time to explain the scope of work and other alternative ways to solve my problem. I appreciated both Jamie and Roberto!

Called them to come snake my main line at 10:30 am. I was told someone would be out at noon and that I would get a call when plumber was on the way. 12:30 pm rolls around and still no call so I call back. I was told they are still coming out so I wait some more. 2:30 pm still no call or plumber, call back again this time I'm told they are on another job and that I'm next, wait some more. 4:00 pm still no call or plumber call back a third time am told they will be done at 4:30 pm and will then be out. 5:00 pm still no call or plumber call back finial time and cancel my service request because at this point I do not trust them nor do I want to give them money for making me wait all day. If you don't have service available don't tell me someone will be out at a certain time and then make me wait 5 hours past that.

Great job clearing drain, but technician failed to quote price in advance. I have seen ads for $79 and $99 drain clearing--so I was shocked to get a request to pay $250!
This was a normal snake of line just 15' to clear the clog. We're not talking about roof access or removing an appliance to get access--nothing special. This was a straight kitchen sink unclog.
I'm not going to pay an exorbitant fee when company had promised they would call me with a quoted price first. They didn't call first...and now demand 2.5x reasonable price! Warning-- don't trust this company to quote you a price before demanding payment.

Main drain line was plugged. Said they could not find a ground level access to main line and had to go on roof to clear line (and walk on our newly repaired roof tiles). Price quoted to clear drain and run a camera through it was outrageous! Paid them a $79 fee for coming out. Called a local plumber with good reviews who came out the same day, found a ground level main drain access (no climbing on the roof!) and cleared the line at a reasonable price. The price quoted by Roto-Rooter was over 3 times the cost of the plumber we used. Would definitely NOT recommend Roto-Rooter.
