I had a severe problem with the pipe that connects the main to my house. There was no way I could fix this properly on my own. And it was late Sunday afternoon. Called Roto Rooter and Steven, their lead plumber, took the call and was at my place in 30 mins. He did an outstanding job of fixing the problem, and I have water back into my house. His repair is holding up fantastically. I will call these guys again in a heartbeat for my future plumbing needs.

Roto-rooter did a great job diagnosing and fixing my main line clog. They worked quickly and were respectful of my home (i.e. covering their boots and avoiding walking through the house unless necessary. The price was a little high for a basic main line snaking I thought. It was worth it in this case to have the problem resolved quickly and on a Saturday.

I have been using this roto-rooter office in santa cruz over the last four years to clear a sewer line that periodically gets blocked by roots that intrude through the pipe.
Pro: they are always available and will get you somebody within the day to fix your problem. If after hours you have to pay extra ( above $90) which I find acceptable given the inconvenience. The service is good, they fixed the problem every time, around once a year.
Con: Every year I was charged the same amount for running the snake and camera, about $280. Last time (1/2017) they charged me $120 more, plus added a $8 for gas (!?). When I asked for clarifications, they argued that they had not charged me for running the camera all the other previous three times they did the job, and in fact the camera is a $380 charge but now they were giving me the 'special' of $380 for both snake and camera. In short, without warning, for running the camera (a 5 minute job) they were charging me $120 more. I expected to pay the same price I payed before for the same job.
I am not a happy customer now, and will cal other plumber if need to in the future

In drought stricken areas like Santa Cruz we are implored to minimize water usage. One way to achieve this is by collecting bath water in buckets and using that to flush the toilet. One can get away with refilling the tank by opening the ceramic top a few inches and refilling water there if the bath water is really clean. The other way, assuming there's no pooty-poos in the toilet, is to toss the bucket of water straight into the bowl. Amazingly this will flush the toilet just like pulling the handle!

I'd been doing my duty as a conservationist and opting for bath water over tank water as often as possible. That was, until the day my plumbing stopped working completely. In a move that was both graceful and elegant I tossed a bucket of water into the bowl but had not noticed that there was a bathtub drain stopper in the bucket as the water went in. The stopper was small enough to go down the drain but it was not small enough to continue downhill out to the waste treatment plant.

Even with the stopper down the drain the toilet was still flushing; it was not flushing with the pressure we're used to. Was this just my plumbing or had I just jammed the downstairs neighbors plumbing too? Could the stopper be jamming the whole condominium? What if the entire west side of Santa Cruz was now unable to flush their toilets? Great move, Athonia. Bravo.

As always I popped onto Foursquare and then Yelp! to see who had good reviews. Roto-rooter had offices nearby and I recognized the name from advertising. I called them immediately. Their people deployed bringing all manner of snaking gizmos out that they could use to attack the pipes. It didn't take long before high pressure flushing commenced again. The problem was solved with both Efficiency and professionalism. This was just another one of those days I was thankful to have help from the local businesses in my community.

Thank you, roto-rooter, for getting me out of this tricky situation.

Call these guys if you have a clogged culvert (ours was 24"" in diameter, 40' long, and filled nearly solid with branches, silt and debris) and need a hydro jet to clear it. They're friendly, helpful, responsive, skilled and cost effective.

we had a major problem where our washroom had to be jackhammered and it was very traumatic for us. Bryan and Joe reassured us on first visit that all would be handled properly. Then Maurice worked the week -he was efficient, professional and kept everything very clean and that was hard to do and also he had a very small area to work in. Joe helped him the last few days and again we were so pleased with their reassurance and the completed job was perfect. For such a big invasive project we are very pleased with the results and very pleased with the customer service and also Fiona and Jessica in the office were excellent.

Grossly over-priced. Charged me $72 for a toilet supply line and gasket (under $10 at Home Depot), $247 for labor (10 minutes on the job, 20 minutes at the house from arrival at the front door to billing), and $25 fee for coming to Corralitos (out of Santa Cruz City limits, but still in the county.) The job literally involved unscrewing the line that connected the toilet to the wall, adding a gasket and fastening the replacement. The only good thing was that they were able to come out the same day I called. Had I not previously injured my wrist and could wait for a day or two I definitely could have shopped around for a company that would not charge such exorbitant prices or have done the repair myself! I was charged too much money for the work was done and feel ripped off. Shame on me for allowing Roto-Rooter to do the job, but never again. Please call and get estimates from other companies before giving this company your business and hard-earned cash.

Very unimpressed. Had an appointment scheduled on Saturday morning. Appointment time was pushed back three times, plumber showed up after nine. I suggested better for him to come back during daylight hours, was told that would be Sunday afternoon or Monday at the latest. Had no contact so followed up on Monday and was told he could come on Thursday.

Not at all acceptable when I have a water leak somewhere creating a serious problem with the city of Santa Cruz, and my water bill.

We asked for proposals for our sewer job in Santa Cruz County from a number of local plumbers and RotoRooter easily came in first. It was a good choice - the price was fair, the job was scheduled promptly, the technician was very professional and cheerfully willing to explain each step of the process. We will definitely contact them for future jobs.
