Roto Rooter from Merced charged me $420 to unclog kitchen sink drain & added some chemical ($70) to ""improve"" drainage.
The technician gave me a quote first & I greed with the price but it seemed like a complicated process till I found out it took only about 10 min to snake the drain.
Try other plumbers unless you have a true emergency & they came first. Ask for their quote & if you can wait for other plumber to arrive, don't use Roto Rooter

Am highly annoyed that roto rooter wasted my time getting an estimate from them--$200 over what it should have been and the two guys tried to gaslight me that installing the tank of a two-part toilet took just the same labor as installing the whole thing.

Don't use this service, Competely unqualified technicians, I had a technician come out to unclog drain and quoted me 1800.00 as he couldn't find sewer main and told me he had to clear the sewer Main from roof. So I had another plumber come out they found the sewer main and unclogged for 100.00. Never use these plumbers as they lied to me completely. These plumbers are very unprofessional and the worst.

Excellent service. Tenants called to report rental house main drain line backed up on a Saturday night. On Sunday morning, I called my usual plumbing company in Merced, CA ""24 hr, 7 days"" emergency number and left a message with answering service, but got no reply. Next I called 2 other highly rated plumbers who advertised ""24/7 emergency service"" in Merced, and both were uninterested in coming out on a Sunday. Fourth call was to Roto-Rooter. Friendly, professional intake process was followed up within the hour by text notifications that the tech was en route to the house to help the tenants. After checking the cleanout, tech contacted me with an immediate solution, plus 2 additional options to prevent the problem from recurring. Friendly technician. Super low-pressure on the additional services recommended. Since it was Sunday, I authorized the immediate repair only. Tech completed repairs and sent me quotes for the additional recommended work in case I decide to do it in the future. I paid over the phone with Visa.

Don't be fooled by their ""free estimate"" or waste your money!! I had the technician come out last week to look at 3 things. 1) water faucet still leaks after I replaced the valve. Simple fix, the tech added a second gasket (that I had on hand). 2) my brand new garbage disposal stopped working, another simple fix. Press the reset button I didn't know I had. 3) my bathroom shower knob turns on the water but only cold and warm, not hot. So the tech took the knob out and showed me the thing inside where you can adjust the water. He then couldn't put the knob back in, he didn't have his tools so I gave him my Phillips screw driver and my nails for him to put the knob back in. He charged me $325/hour and told me the cost after he had already taken everything apart!! I paid the tech because I thought he had fixed the bathroom shower water. After he left, my water does not turn to cold or hot. It's just luke warm.
I scheduled another appt for someone to come out. Waited the entire day with a couple of calls from roto rooter saying the tech will be there in an hour... no one showed up the entire day. The following day was the same! No show!! I finally get a text message at the end of the second day and told them they wasted 2 days that I had to stay home and wait for the tech & no one showed up. I cancelled my appt at that point.
I'm now out of the wasted $325 and my children do not have hot or cold water for the shower. Home owners be aware, don't waste your hard earned money on this company. I wished I didn't.

Place just absolutely ripped off my girlfriend. They were supposed to show up Wednesday they never did. Rescheduled for this morning but didn't show up until this evening and then totally took advantage of a female and charges her $300 for a 15 minute snake job. Same place called charges me $100 for a tougher job last week. Better business bureau is going to hear from us.

Absolutely outrageous pricing. Was stuck in a hard place because my main line was leaking. He dug a hole and repaired a broken connector in like one hour. Spent most of his time running back and forth to home depot for parts and charged me $250 an hour. Then he charged me $240 to back fill the the hole which was like three shovels full of dirt. Never again. After all was said and done it cost us $1300. Amazing

I've been bamboozled!! The initial recon employee shows up to assess the problem. That person explained what a Terrible situation I was in and that digging in my concrete slab was definite due to an underground leak. Did not find a leak anywhere else in the wall or anything. Insisted a leak detection be done($750 just to show up). Leak detection shows up the next day and finds the leak in the wall due to a nail from the baseboards. In and out in 5 minutes. 750 out the window. I can fix a leak in the wall! The only reason leak detection showed up was because it was heavily advised by the initial employee. I was hussled!! Not only that, the leak detection gentlemen did not inspect the rest of my water line to ensure that was the only leak. They left immediately even after I insisted they stay and inspect the rest of the water line. No assurance that my water line is good aside from the wall leak. Now if my gut is right and it leaks again, another 750 to find the leak. That's how They get you. Albeit roto rooter showed up ready to fix the problem at a hefty price. I was not happy with how the situation was handled. Also, I would recommend them sending an invoice to the customer instead of charging customers at the door. No one wants to be served a bill like that. I'll never use roto rooter again. I recommend no one use roto rooter again. They will take advantage of your inexperience. Roto rooter as a business, is a loser.
