Roto-Rooter is the most unprofessional organization. They book appointments and don't show up. Their employees do NOT care about customers, push them from one person to another and then finally mislead. I made a huge mistake and will never get back to them . I am amazed how an organization that does not care about its customers survives .

We called twice to check and was told that someone would be here by 3pm.

Called again at 4pm and Got a supervisor on the phone and NOW he sending someone over, they should be here by five. Unbelievable. Really

While I guess that if you have a sewer backup and need to restore damage, you don't have many choices in the area, it's been an extremely unpleasant experience dealing with Roto-Rooter serving Mid Peninsular. Lenadra at its service office with the phone number of 408-739-4979 (x24316) just hung up on me when I asked what caused the sewer backup, whether the problem has been fixed for the long run, and how should we do to prevent it in the future. The bill from its water restoration department is 3 times more than the initial estimate. Its restoration team also damaged walls and doors. When I asked for a detailed breakdown of the huge +$20K cost, the representative mentioned that everything is covered by insurance, ""why do you want to know""... What a horrible service to treat clients who are already in lots of stress with water problems at home!

I had a bathtub clogging problem and called Roto Rooter for a service. I thought this is a national company and they should be fair and capable. First, the charge was $451 based on a flat rate which was outrageously high for a 20 minute job. Second, there is ""NO GUARANTEE"" for the job. When I was in Boston, the similar job is $90-120 and a 90 day guarantee.

Called at 6: 45 pm for a sink repair. Could have done the job myself in 20 minutes but missing a tool. Was told plumber would be at my home between 8 p and 9p. At 8:23 p they called and said they plumber that was coming was stuck on another job. I could have called any number of other plumbers but Roto-Rooter confirmed a plumber would be at my home within two hours. Now have to wait until tomorrow. So... if you want dependability... beware....

They got the job done BUT they almost scammed me. they assumed my home was a commercial building when it is clearly a single family home... this meant that they were going to give me a 30 day warranty INSTEAD of a 6 month warranty for single family home owners.

thankfully I double checked with the plumber, and he kindly explained to me that the company thought it was a commercial home but we sorted it out. Just make sure to double check that your home is assigned as the correct building.

Two plumbers at Roto-Rooter missed an important but simple step that cost us $200 to correct. However, the company followed up and addressed my issue. I am now giving them four stars due to the fact they followed up on a customer service issue.

I called Roto-Rooter in April to clean a clogged disposal. They snaked it and I paid over $300. However, I noticed when they left that my dishwasher had water in the bottom. I called Roto-Rooter again and they sent another plumber. The second plumber did not spend much time investigating - he said it wasn't a plumbing issue; it was a dishwasher issue.

So I called my local Asko representative. He came out and said that the first plumber had forgotten to clear the air gap. I paid $200 for one minute of advice from Asko, but two Roto Rooter plumbers missed this.

I didn't originally get a prompt response, but a customer service rep saw this review and called me. They are refunding the $200. I call that great service so I have amended my review.

When sewage enters your home at 10pm on a Sunday, normal plumbers will only tell you, they can't handle that and usually during office hours. When you call Jose at East Palo Alto office of Roto Rooter that you need help, he comes within an hour. He repeatedly calms your fears with clear descriptions of what is required, the timeframe involved and constantly updates you on their progress. He follows up daily after he drops off equipment (Air purifiers, dryers - I think I had 8 machines going on at the same time, our space was so large), removal of drywall, carpets and tile. He meticulously cleans everything. He has the latest technology to read the presence of water below tile and in drywall. His staff is professional and trustworthy. I have to add that no one has 2 floods within two weeks of each other, but we did. Sewage first. Then two weeks later, an intake pipe pulled away from the toilet to spray at the ceiling undetected for 6 hours, 2700 gallons later in our pool house. Incredibly unlucky and the reasons for the two had nothing to do with each other. Thankfully this was freshwater not sewage and we had manageable damage, just drywall and wood floors requiring re-staining. Again, Jose came in on his day off even thought they sent a very capable William over to review the job and set up the drying equipment that I just sent back a week earlier! You can't ask for better more professional service than from Jose and his group of associates. I recommend him to all of my friends in San Mateo count
