Not sure whats up with the bad reviews.
They showed up when they said, did the drain clog in 15 mins. Price was as quoted and the plumber was a good guy with suggestions to avoid a future clog.

I must say , in my opinion the name Roto-Rooter once meant something but today it means nothing - at least this one. It was that long time name was why I contacted them first to provide a quote on a pipe repair / replacement. The pipe was about 4 feet long and I already dug the hole to the elbow.
The plumber came out - looked at it for a half minute and said that he will have to refer it to another plumber. Basically he told me that he would charge me per hour and said that he is only a one man crew. Then he goes on by saying that he does not have the DIES for (whatever) and it can cost a bit if he has to rent tools. Bla Bla Bla .....
Then he walked out and I called the company to tell them about the one man crew and rental of tools excuse that he gave me. She sent him back and he said that he was not turning down the job but he would charge me time and materials. OK ? how much - As a plumber I expect him to look at what needs to be replaced and replace it. What is so hard to look at a 4 foot piece of pipe and connections and give me an ESTIMATE ???? -
Again he left. I called the store one more time to tell them what he said this time. All I wanted was a good bid , is there anything wrong with asking for that ?
Then she said its just frustrating and went on and starting about COVID for some reason.
Anyway to make a long story short - One call to another plumber who wanted a couple of pictures - which I sent - and got my quote.
That people........ is what a professional does.
Please , when you spend your hard earned money, you are the boss not the contractors - make it known to them. This is the age of the internet / cell phones and cameras - don't get ripped off and make sure they know who is writing the check. There are many many plumbers and contractors you can choose.

All drains were plugged this A.M. Of six local companies, Roto Rooter was the only who could respond on the same day I called in. Mike was at my home within the hour and had the problem solved well within the first hour. Great job, Roto Rooter! Thank you!

Roto-rooter is the place to call when your drains and toilet are causing problems. Michael arrived quickly and got right down to business. Michael is experienced and tenacious and he cleared the drain after much work. I am happy with the results and would recommend Roto-Rooter San Luis Obispo for professional work and service.

Very disappointed! I was told their work had a guarantee for 3 months, not true! The employee said unless he had an additional hour he would not guarantee his work!! Therefore no guarantee! Also needed two of my towels and left them filthy!

I called and told the receptionist what other plumbers said, and asked if they had necessary equipment to locate blockage or broken pipe, she said have us come and give second opinion cause they are experts in unclogging where others may not succeed, sure as hell they came, snaked the pipe, basically charged us $150 for less than a hour work and gave us same advice the other plumber gave us. Thanks for wasting our money and time. You suck, wish you could unclog better.
I recommend Total plumbing over these guys every time from now on

I would like to thank the service man , Mike
That came out today.
Mike was efficient, clean, polite, professional and made sure that things were done correctly.
Highly recommend this business

Wow. 24/7 emergency service as advertised? How about calling your landlord on Sunday afternoon to report a clogged toilet and bathtub, being referred to Roto Rooter due to prior good service, leaving two voicemail messages and not hearing back until 9:54 AM on Monday morning when you're already at work? Seriously, at that point why bother, especially if you're not going to leave a message? Roto Rooter really needs to be more aware of what's going on with their franchisees, because this is really bad service.

The Worst! They came out to clear a storm drain. I told them it was probably clogged by roots. After 15 minutes the snake got stuck. He gave me a bill for $150 and said he would return the next day after putting detergent in the drain line to help loosen the snake. The next day he came and got his snake out and declared there is no charge for today like he was doing me a favor and left. . The drain is still clogged!

On May 1, I called Roto Rooter in Morro Bay and spoke with Ann, the owner. I explained my mother had a plumbing problem at her home and could she please send a plumber out as soon as possible. She was very helpful and agreed to send someone within the hour. Mike came and unclogged the lines. He explained he found wipes in the lines and said the problem was solved. Twenty minutes later the sewage was backing up in the shower and tub again.
I called Ann and explained the situation and she sent Mike to investigate and handle the situation. Mike came and performed the same work and explained in a very terse manner that he found more wipes and that if he came again he would charge them again. It was explained to Mike and to Ann that these ladies don't use wipes, in fairness, I cannot vouch for their guests. Anyway, if he had done the job properly the first time wouldn't all of the wipes been removed?
On Saturday, May 5th the plumbing backed up again. I called Ann and explained the situation and she said she would send him but it would be an overtime charge. I asked her about the two week guarantee and she said he cleaned it the first time, this was a different issue and did I want him to go again. I'm thinking there's sewage in the house....well, yeah, maybe this is health issue and he should return.
He came and performed the same procedure - without gloves - and then charged an extra $230. We called to complain about the charge, and his hygiene since he was touching doorknobs, etc., and dispute the bill. We were basically called liars and told that the problem was the wipes again.
Well, the plumbing backed up again on May 8th and this time I called a different plumber who scoped the line with a camera and discovered the problem - a separated pipe under the house from which he pulled toilet paper - no wipes. He stated there was no way anyone could diagnose the problem without using a camera. So much for Roto Rooter's thorough investigation.
I called to speak with Ann today and explain the situation and ask her what she thought was fair. She explained she wasn't charging the $230 but wouldn't refund the original $150. She stated she wouldn't speak with me again and hung up.
So, these are facts. You decide if this is the kind of business you choose to patronize.
