I am not one to complain but very unhappy with the cleanliness of the workers at Roto-rooter. Usually when anyone come to do work inside your home something is laid down for protection. Also, mess is cleaned up once job is complete. My carpet was stained, splatter on my bathroom walls and sink cabinet, and tile left all dirty. I called Roto rooter to clear my bathroom drain. They quoted me $550 to snake 2 drains which they were unable to do in the 1 1/2 hours they were here. Since they did not clear I did not have to pay. I called someone new the next day and drained was cleared under 15 minutes and I was only charged $125. I do not understand the huge difference in cost but what an absolute rip off from Roto-rooter. I will not be calling Roto-rooter for any service again.
We bought a new kitchen faucet that we needed installed. We got the faucet on sale at Home Depot for $165. We had used Roto-Rooter for plumbing issues and were happy with them, so we called them to install the faucet. The plumber came out on time, however, he proceeded to tell us that they would charge $509 to install the faucet!!! This was NOT a fancy faucet! We thought he was kidding--but he wasn't! Then he proceeded to tell us that Roto-Rooter was bought out by a bigger company and they jacked all of the prices up; however, he was off Wednesdays and we could call him on his day off to install the faucet (have no idea how much he would charge). What the heck is going on with Roto-Rooter--sounds like price-gouging. Needless to say, we said, ""No Thanks"" and will NEVER use them again for plumbing. Out of this awful experience, we found a local plumber (in Yorba Linda) ""Carlson Plumbing"" who not only showed up the next day, they did an AWESOME job and charged $150!
Sean K.The technician should up, the job was a simple drain plug, he spent max 20 min. Setting up and unplug the drain, I paid 1030 dollars. for the job, not sure if he charged by the minute but it was way excessive for just a simple unplug and using the camera to inspect and running water jet to clean up. The whole thing was 20 min. Next day I called some other for the same estimate just to check and their estimate was 200 to 250. I feel pretty dumb trusting these guys. Make sure you check their estimates
Made me wait all day, kept telling me it would be that day, then, when too late, told me it would be the next day. Then, wanted a massive amount of money just to replace a water supply valve for a toilet. I am sure the plumber himself was ok. Seemed nice. The company is shit. They look for fools with no choices. They hide their pricing for a very good reason.
I called Roto-Rooter to come fix my food disposal at 10am. They told me they would be at my home by no later than 2pm. After multiple follow ups they showed up at 4:20pm. The guy told me all he needed to do was to un-jam the food disposal and that he would charge me $349 for the job. I told him that was too much money and dispatched him. I then google searched how to un-jam food disposal and hold an behold, Roto-Rooter had 2 minute YouTube video on how to do it. I followed the video and in less than 2 minutes my food disposal was working. SERIOUSLY, I was going to be charged $349 for a 2 minute job? NEVER will call or recommend Roto-Rooter again...
Called on Thursday told them I needed an estimate on replacing a pipe. They said a technician would be here between 12-5 pm. The tech showed up at 7. Then he said oh I only clean drains I don't replace. he said that tech would be out on Monday they would call and give us a time. Sunday I called they said between 8-12am. Tech showed up at 130 said they would have to send another tech he would be here between 4-9pm to see what they could do and they may or may not be able to to get started with the work by wed. It is 9pm no tech and guess who I will never call again
We had a extremely slow drip from the water supply shut off valve for the washing machine at my 83 year old mothers house, so we gave them a call. The technician who showed up was Darwin, he took a look and gave an estimate of $900.00!!! To install new valves and he'd be back the next day to do the job. My mom called me with the estimate and I about died from laughter. I then asked for Darwin's number so I could try and understand why this was going to cost so much. For full disclosure, it's copper piping, flush mounted outside the wall so no drywall work, valve box or anything complicated. I call Darwin and have him try and explain why it was going to cost so much and what his hourly labor rate is. He proceeds to tell me this ""well I have to shut off the water, cut the pipes below the existing valve, solder on new fittings, then install the hose bibs/shut off valves. I said I agree with the scope of work but you still haven't answered the question of why so much and what's your labor rate, he replies with ""what do you think it should cost $100.00?!! No Darwin I'm sure your time/labor/parts are worth more than that but $900?!!!. He proceeds to tell me that his labor rate is $400.00 per hour!!. Needless to say I offended him with my questioning and he called my mom to cancel the repair, not sure why since I canceled with him on the phone. Some research showed the the average hourly plumbing rate in OC is $125.00. A family friend referred a plumber who came out on a Saturday and fixed the problem by installing new valves for a grand total of $168.00, in and out in under an hour. Darwin and Roto Rooter should be ashamed of themselves for trying to take advantage of an older lady who has too much faith in humanity.
Horrible, tried charging our family double what any other local plumbing service did. They are salesman not plumbers.
Lonnie H.They did what I needed to be fixed. Minus 1 star for missing their appointment window by one hour. Minus one star for being too expensive. The plumber was very transparent. $369 minimum to fix a broken shower cartridge. They also charge 2x plus $10 for the part that they bought at home depot. Charged another $339 to replace a faucet that I already purchased. Each of they tasks took 90 minutes. Next time I will price around and probably go with someone else.
Lauren M.I never thought I'd love a plumbing company enough to write a review, but here we are! My boyfriend and I had finally saved up enough to have our leaking bathroom sink and toilet repaired so off to Google I went to find a stand up company. I originally called a different plumbing company (which somehow got a 4.8 star rating) to come out and give an estimate -just an estimate and it took 4 phone calls, a missed appointment and a tech that tried to upsell and overcharge for the services I needed. Not to mention him throwing open our shower curtain to suggest unneccesary changes (nobody panic, I made sure to put my waterproof ahem...massagers away first) and also accuse my boyfriend of the shady work on the pipes from the 60s. After the unprofessionalism and ridiculous price of almost $2000 we couldn't kick him out fast enough. Oh, also, I was told last minute on the phone that there was a $39 consultation fee and found out in person they required a credit card, owner's maiden name, SSN and first born child on file before giving any information as to what they recommend. No bueno.
Now, on to the good stuff. As soon as I showed this dud to the door I immediately googled Roto-Rooter for anaheim and within an hour of requesting a FREE consultation I received an amazing, chipper call from their call center that they had a tech that could be here in 45 minutes! I was elated. Within that time frame, the awesome Manny is at our door and ready to get down to business. With an estimate of about $800 cheaper than the other tech put together we were on our way to a cheaper water bill and a dry floor. The entire time Manny kept things straight forward and never once tried to upsell or trick us in to replacing something that didn't need to be. We enjoyed having him repair our bathroom so much that we're even scheduling him to come back next week to install a new faucet! 10/10 recommend Roto-Rooter, keep it up guys, this was waaaayyy too simple and pleasant! :)
