They sent a technician, Rommel, who was extremely aggressive and hostile, as soon we first interacted, refused to wear a mask (after I had offered him a brand new mask that I requested he wear), and, then, he yelled repeatedly at me, while coming towards me and making physical motions like he was going to try to fight me, while I was running up the front steps of the house, in order to try to get safely into my home. They sent a second technician, Said, who was great- Brought his own mask, was agreeable, friendly, and addressed the plumbing problem. However, the manager, Joe, who I spoke with later, at the company, blamed me for my role in the interaction with Rommel, which is shocking, given that I was reporting that I had been violently threatened by one of their technicians, which the company should be addressing as an issue of safety, conduct, ethics and legal compliance, on their part. I will not be using their services again. I recommend that you stay far away from them, for your own safety.

I called for service. They quoted me $525. I was in shock , told them I've never paid that much. He said inflation. I was not buying it ! I called American plumbing in Antioch. They came and did it for $175 !! Roto is a rip off

Stay away. They are quick to take your appointment, take your money (charges an excessive amount to begin with), and then would not respond to any complaints after. Like literally no one with authority picks up or call you back.

Plumber low quality and lack experience - at plumbers recommendation, we proceeded to buy new water heater and then claim warranty on old water heater. Since it's the weekend, the store was not open for us to claim warranty immediately. He then threw away my old water heater the next day without our authorization so we cannot claim warranty. He claimed he ""didn't know"".

Zero customer service. I have been calling for this issue for over a month. Every time I get transferred somewhere to leave a message for call back. No one ever calls back. The scheduling person is always available and will pick up. Anyone oversees quality or have managerial responsibilities never goes to work.

All Roto-Rooters around the Bay area are owned by the same person, so don't think you'll get lucky at another bay area Roto-Rooters.

Initially I thought they were pretty knowledgeable and efficient. They did do a small job for us but then when they noticed we needed other work boy oh boy. I realized they are a huge franchise with sales people as apposed to a plumbing service.

They quoted us over 40k for something we got 4 other bids ranging from $2,500-4k. There was absolutely no reason it should cost that much even if you are jacking up the price to pay your employees. I have many years in the business and am familiar with cost. We had the job done, permits complete that week and paid a tiny fraction of what they asked for. The work was done well by reputable people with no infractions on their License.

Do yourself a favor, check their reviews, License complaints, court filings.

Needless to say we went with another company

BUYER BEWARE !!!

They dont guarantee their service. They came out less than 30 days ago and refuse to come out again unless I pay another $500!!

They want me to pay another $10,000 for a so called ""CHEAP FIX""!!

I use rotor rooter for all my residential units. Less than 30 days they refuse to clean it.

Total scam artists!! Waste of my time and money!

USE YOUR LOCAL PLUMBING SERVICES !! Customer service is priceless !

UPDATE: I tried giving them another chance. I tried calling their manager. I was on hold bounced around from depts and had to call back as I was transferred to answering machines.

Eric and Peter -- the Managers were exceptionally rude and unhelpful as was Jackie (not sure what role she plays). I am shocked how rude and the lack of service a huge company like this provides. At one point I was offered a slight discount, still over $300 to get someone to come out for 20 minutes less than a month after they did the original service.

They also tried to make me feel bad about the services I received and tried to say they dont have history on my account beyond the last two services in the last 6+ months.

THEY MADE ME CRY AND hyperventilate at their rudeness. I thought managers would make things right, instead they were the rudest and inhumane of them all.

CORPORATE: Please do something about these managers!!!

I called this company because my kitchen sink decided to stop draining as I was preparing to host over 50 people at a 60th birthday Bash. Because of course it did.

I called one plumber advertising emergency responses and they had a voice mail, so I called this company and someone picked up. This was just after 11 am.
I explained my emergency and was assured they had someone to help me, they would be here within about 2 hours. Since guests were supposed to start coming at 2 pm, that was going to work. I received a confirmation email so I really thought we were set.

It's now 10 am the next day and the plumber never showed. I've received no phone call, no further emails, nothing.
One of my guests was a plumber and drove home to get here truck and fixed my sink in the middle of the party.
That's 50 local people who ALL know that Roto Rooter dropped the ball.

They responded with about an hour and a half. However, the price they charged to fix the sewage backup in my house was quite expensive. $400 for about an hour or so worth of service.

If I could give a minus star, I would. They came and cleared out a sewer pipe [that's OK] and replaced a toilet valve on a tenant's toilet. they charged $1700. I called the office and was told I had been charged too much. They deducted $500. How they come up with these figures is unclear. Then tenant's toilet is still problematic--running, which is a simple problem. I called them and they came out and wanted to charge almost $500 for a simple issue that that they should have seen when they were here. Our contractor fixed it in a few minutes and told them to go home. The people they hire: do they know what they are doing?
I was going to add that I had used them before but I discovered it was another service. Whoever wrote the positive reviews must have been paid to do so. I don't often review people. If someone is really good, I will say so. If someone is a crook like this outfit, I will also say so.

Called them for help at my mom's house to fix her clogged sewer. The guy that came out told my mom it was impossible and would take $35k to open up the street. His name is Jacob and his supervisor Miguel called to confirm Jacob's assessment. They still charged me even though they didn't accomplish anything besides wasting my time and upsetting my mom, Mother's Day weekend.

I called Peter Levi Plumbing the next day and they cleared the clog in under 15 minutes for a very reasonable price.

Stay away from these guys! They are crooks! Not heroes!
