Wanted $325 for a simple drain cleaning. About twice the going rate.
The tech was courteous but the price was crazy

Had Roto-Rooter come out to do a repair on a Saturday, dumb anyway, the weekend Crews are a bunch of clowns, at least the three that showed up at my place. They proceeded to turn a simple clean out of $430 into a $700 bill, told me that the repair would be thousands of dollars and that it was not their responsibility. Called the supervisor twice, secretary said he would get back to me never did. Today had a Oakland Rooter plummer fix their boondoggle for $325. PS his name's Jose.

I wish I had seen these reviews before I called them. Will never use them again.

On Saturday night, I requested service through the Roto-Rooter website. I said that I needed help with a clogged sump pump discharge line.

The tech shows up at 10 AM the next morning. He says they charge $399 an hour with a 1 hour minimum, but he's pretty sure he can fix my problem in that time. I said that the price seems really high compared to what I've seen on the internet, but he's here and I want it fixed so fine.

He says it's either the sump pump, the connection between the sump pump and the line, or a clogged sump pump line. I told him that the sump pump and connections are new and I inspected them last night and I'm 95% sure it's a clog in the line. After about 45 minutes of doing all the same poking around I had done, he announces . . . it's a clog in the discharge line! And despite what he had said early, he doesn't have a snake and he can't fix it.

He explains that he is a plumber and that what I need is a drain tech. I asked why they sent him instead of a drain tech in the first place. He said to take it up with dispatch. I asked why he didn't mention that he couldn't fixed a clogged line up front . . . he doesn't answer, but he ""generously"" offers me a $100 discount and his personal number in case the drain tech doesn't show up.

I'm now waiting for the roto-rooter drain tech. No one will give me an appointment window or a quote for how much this will cost. And it's unclear what happens if snaking the line doesn't clear the clog (could be calcified or need more action).

I'll update the review with when the drain tech shows up and the final price I'm quoted, but this is not how I hoped to spend my Sunday (or my money).

I will never hire this company again.

Over the phone, I scheduled an appointment because they told me that they'll waive the $300 fee for the estimate.

When they arrived, they wen back on their word and said they will not look at anything until I pay them $300.

I should have just cancelled the whole thing right then, but I decide to go with it since they were there and I needed the leak fixed.

After they took a look, they quoted me $950. I went to discuss with my partner and we saw online that usually a fix for something like ours is around $450. They told me the price is higher because our house is a duplex so it's a commercial property. This is wrong because commercial properties are anything with 5+ units. And he said that just standing there, waiting for our decision was another 30 minutes of charge. I deliberated with my partner on his ridiculous quote for no more than 10 minutes.

I will never use this company again. Dishonest, ridiculous quotes, and rude

If you are lucky to get Ed to fix a toilet that overflowed then be grateful. Ed was patient in explaining the problem of a clog in the main sewer & diligently pulled the toilet after he couldn't locate the clean out pipe in the yard of my mother's house. The work took two hours. The only thing with Roto-Rooter us they give you a time range for when the plumber will arrive, but the dispatcher keeps pushing back the time because of a lack of availability. There are just not enough plumbers to serve such a vast area. The work by Ed was done on 9/9/22, after another Roto-Rooter plumber showed up at 10:15 pm the previous night but couldn't do the work because he lacked the proper equipment. On 9/9/22, I gad to keep calling the dispatcher when no one showed up during the reserved time. So be patient with the scheduling because a long wait seems to be customary. Thanks again Ed!

I am disappoited to the core whike i already spent 500 for nothing!
The guy comes in and we already had the issue figured out so he really didnt have to figure out the issue but fix it! He agreed that we are correct on where the problem is. mind it.. the call we made to roto rooters was because our bathtub hand issues draining water and it started clogging toilet too....
Long story short he comes fixes toilet os draining bathtub is still same .. when he is leaving i ask him sir this is still not fixed he says OH JUST KEEP POURING HOT BOILING WATER IN A DAY OR TWO ITBWILLALL BE CKEAN.. BESIDES A GUY WITH CAMERA INSPECTION EXPERTISE WILL COME ON TWO THREE DAYS AS U SCHEDULE AND WILL MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN OR IF THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE..

almost a month!!! Its still not draining!
We called 5 times to schedule cam inspection which was included in the amount we paid still no one showed up! They claim they call us to comfirm and we are not recving any calls on mine or my husbands phone!

When i call them i tell them i am confirming just come !!!! No one comes!!!
ALL OF THIS IS CRAP!!!
Shame on your scams!

Scheduled a simple drain clean out for one shower drain. I scheduled online and never received confirmation so I called and my appointment was confirmed. They give 2 hour windows and I chose one of them. I received a call at the end of the 2 hour window that they were waiting for a technician to be available and that they would update me when they were available. Another hour later I received a text saying a technician would come in 30-45 minutes which I confirmed via text. Another hour passed and still no word so I called back again and after waiting on hold for 15 minutes they told me that they couldn't get a hold of the technician that was supposed to come. They were apologetic and told me they could find another technician in the area and would call back in 30-45 min to update me. At that point I was done playing this game and expressed my frustration with not having a clear plan 2.5 hours after the end of the 2 hour window they gave me. They seemed to care less and had no empathy for taking 4.5 hours out of my day without completing their work. Clearly they don't value their customers. Go with a local operation who has better customer service.

Just did some research and discovered that the average hourly pay for a plumber is between $45 and $200 an hour. Guess how much these crooks wanted to replace a leaky faucet? $425 an hour not including materials!!! I spoke with the manager about their ridiculously high prices and he said, "" well, we're not the cheapest service you can hire."" Thanks CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!! I won't be calling your company ever again! Complete waste of time.

I recently had a clogged toilet and called Roto Rooter plbg & Water Cleanup to do the work. I was led to believe that it would cost between $75-$100 which I thought was reasonable. The fella that came out to the house was professional, amiable and quick. In and out in 20 minutes most of that was 2-3 trips from house to truck. He charged me $250.00 to unclog my toilet. Did not Roto the main line and I was flabbergasted! But with company coming for the weekend and more coming for a long stay at the end of the month I was hard pressed.
Thanks, ~DUG

Stay away from this company. I requested a simple service to clear a drain - a service that takes 15 minutes and a snake. It is also something I have done periodically and for which I normally pay $150. My usual serviceman was unavailable, so I called Roto Rooter. In addition to arriving 3 hours later than the 4-hour window I agreed to, and notably with minimal communication, they charged $405.00 for the service. I will never use this company again and hope to deter anyone else from making the same mistake I did.
