Excellent fast professional service. I am very happy I called Roto-Rooter. My wife and I determined that we had a water leak based on our EBMUD meter readings. I Called Roto_Rooter and they scheduled a leak detection service for the next day. Jeff came out and found the leak within an hour. The leak was between the EBMUD meter and the house. The repair team came to repair the leak the same afternoon. This is an old house so Roto-Rooter replaced the water line into the house. They did their work with minimal disruption to our access to water. A special Thank you to Luis Gastelum, who was always here so diligently working on the new installation. And his work mates Terrence, Daejon, Lorenzo and Luis Peraza who did such good work and were all a pleasure to meet.

My toilet was plugged, and water was coming up from the bat tub. I called roto rooter, and was asked a million question; since I am a tenant, they requested a call from my lanndlord, so he called them, and they promised to be here within 2 hours. They called back in an hour and said, nobody was available to come; receptionist was rude, and stated, she could not promise anybody would come to the call at all. At night, I was left without toilet and bath tub. Extremely unprofessional service, will never use them again.

Called Roto-Rooter this morning. I live in SF and they said they would have someone out to me between 2 and 6. About 20 minutes to 2 Mario called me and told me he was on his way. He was quick and did a great job. Thank you!

Adam Rodriquez was awesome he went above and beyond, he was honest fast and reliable! He also had to go through the main sewer line which was quite difficult cause we could not find the house dump out! But he got it done and cleared our mainline clog! Kudos Adam!

I heard a high pitched screeching sound coming from the basement. It was my sump pump, so I called Roto-Rooter. Upon arrival the two plumbers said I would need to replace the pump. I asked them how much? They said it would cost between $1800 and $2200. I told them I absolutely can't afford that (unemployed, don't receive any $ from the government; I am living off a very limited amount of savings) so they said they'd have a look. Less than 30 minutes later they successfully repaired the pump. The bill for a total of 45 minutes (including the paperwork) no replacement parts needed, was $975!!!

I see I'm not alone here; it appears there are many similar complaints. People--please use your 1st amendment right in any way possible; file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
These crooked greedy pigs need to be put out of business forever.

Garrett Martin is a total rock star. He came to our home, was professional, highly trained, personable, and took the time to help educate me on what was happening with our situation. Garrett was patient and helped me understand my options. I would recommend this team again and again and again. Thank you Garrett you are a fantastic representative.

Wanted $325 for a simple drain cleaning. About twice the going rate.
The tech was courteous but the price was crazy

Had Roto-Rooter come out to do a repair on a Saturday, dumb anyway, the weekend Crews are a bunch of clowns, at least the three that showed up at my place. They proceeded to turn a simple clean out of $430 into a $700 bill, told me that the repair would be thousands of dollars and that it was not their responsibility. Called the supervisor twice, secretary said he would get back to me never did. Today had a Oakland Rooter plummer fix their boondoggle for $325. PS his name's Jose.

I wish I had seen these reviews before I called them. Will never use them again.

On Saturday night, I requested service through the Roto-Rooter website. I said that I needed help with a clogged sump pump discharge line.

The tech shows up at 10 AM the next morning. He says they charge $399 an hour with a 1 hour minimum, but he's pretty sure he can fix my problem in that time. I said that the price seems really high compared to what I've seen on the internet, but he's here and I want it fixed so fine.

He says it's either the sump pump, the connection between the sump pump and the line, or a clogged sump pump line. I told him that the sump pump and connections are new and I inspected them last night and I'm 95% sure it's a clog in the line. After about 45 minutes of doing all the same poking around I had done, he announces . . . it's a clog in the discharge line! And despite what he had said early, he doesn't have a snake and he can't fix it.

He explains that he is a plumber and that what I need is a drain tech. I asked why they sent him instead of a drain tech in the first place. He said to take it up with dispatch. I asked why he didn't mention that he couldn't fixed a clogged line up front . . . he doesn't answer, but he ""generously"" offers me a $100 discount and his personal number in case the drain tech doesn't show up.

I'm now waiting for the roto-rooter drain tech. No one will give me an appointment window or a quote for how much this will cost. And it's unclear what happens if snaking the line doesn't clear the clog (could be calcified or need more action).

I'll update the review with when the drain tech shows up and the final price I'm quoted, but this is not how I hoped to spend my Sunday (or my money).

I will never hire this company again.

Over the phone, I scheduled an appointment because they told me that they'll waive the $300 fee for the estimate.

When they arrived, they wen back on their word and said they will not look at anything until I pay them $300.

I should have just cancelled the whole thing right then, but I decide to go with it since they were there and I needed the leak fixed.

After they took a look, they quoted me $950. I went to discuss with my partner and we saw online that usually a fix for something like ours is around $450. They told me the price is higher because our house is a duplex so it's a commercial property. This is wrong because commercial properties are anything with 5+ units. And he said that just standing there, waiting for our decision was another 30 minutes of charge. I deliberated with my partner on his ridiculous quote for no more than 10 minutes.

I will never use this company again. Dishonest, ridiculous quotes, and rude
