Came out in less than two hours. Martin Rivett was our technician and he was neat, clean and professional. He resolved our issue promptly.

5 stars because they showed up within an hour of me calling and they sent a very friendly and experienced technician (Kevin).

1 star because the tech started the work on my garbage disposal within a minute of arriving and before giving any estimate (informs or otherwise). It took less than 10 mins so I naively thought it would be free. The total ended up being $167.50. I wouldn't have moved forward with the repair at this time if I had known the cost but felt as if I had no choice as the work was done.

They will not bring in any pipe auger into a residence, will not remove toilet, ""company policy"" If they can't find a clean out. Will do literally nothing and charge you for the time. Need to state over the phone before sending a guy out, that no augers will be used and no toilets removed.

My fridge water line leaked and went in between the wall and into the adjacent bedroom flooding the carpet. The water also dripped behind the cabinet and underneath my hard wood floor. The mitigation team came by that following Monday and immediately cordoned off both areas and setup industrial de humidifiers before demoing the affected areas. My initial point of contact was Darin who was very professional and explained everything throughout the process, and his team (Mark, Eduardo, Uriah, Peggy Sue, and Megan) were very thorough and careful in their removal of the material. The only thing I would have liked to see was a build back team within Roto Rooter so I wouldn't have to find the contractors myself, but that is up to the corporate office to decide. I also appreciated that they all wore their masks and plastic coverings on their shoes.

Megan, Eduardo, and Darin were great helping out a water restoration issue when we had a sudden leak from the second floor to first. They came out right away when I was struggling to find help.

So, our toilet would not flush so we called them. Response time was good. Long story short, they diagnosed the issue and devised a plan to fix it which included demolition of our front bathroom minus the toilet to include breaking concrete and digging down to the sewer line. This would essentially cut off all other drains inside the house other than the one toilet. Upon digging down they damage was more extensive than originally discovered. This is understandable.

Original plan was to demolish the back bathroom as well, the Lead plumber decided to dig under the back bathroom to save it. They did this and repaired the pipe and so far so good.

Now, why only two stars? Let's go back to the beginning. To provide a little more information, I am deployed to the Middle East for the Army. My wife is hands long this alone. So, After the diagnosis, the work began. The Roto-Rooter Plumber started working removing the bathtub, which had to be cut in half to be removed, which he did. He Carrie's it through the house and just throws it out the front door onto our patio, yes, THROWS it! Each half, just throws it!!

He then proceeds to jackhammer the concrete and then starts digging. He places the concrete and dirt next to the tub he threw and makes two piles. Then the day is over and he's gone. Leaving the tub and dirt (uncovered) and without saying he was done. No communication. Also, he brings his dog to work and asks my wife if he could let his dog use our lawn to relieve himself. Yes, you heard that right!!!

He also leaves in the middle of the day (which, for him doesn't start until 9:30 - 10:30 when he arrives) without saying he is leaving and is gone for couple hours and after he returns, is done for the day 30 minutes later. When he leaves, he leaves the bathroom a wreck, dirty, tools everywhere. My daughter was almost impaled by a saw blade he left protruding from a bucket.

So this goes on for a few days, the tub sat on our patio until my son-in-law moved it out of the walkway portion so no one cut their leg on the sharp metal edge. Two piles of dirt just sitting there. My wife is so upset, that I fly 11 time zones home because I feel the plumber is disrespecting her by he actions.

I get home and the next day the project manager and the lead plumber arrive to assess the situation. I tell them that I flew half way around the world because their employee was disrespecting my wife and my house. They determine that the lead plumber was going to take over the project and I was assured that he would communicate everything to my wife as if she were his wife and how he would expect her to be treated.

It took me coming home and complaining about the dirt piles and tub before they finally had someone pick it up.

The first few days communication was great. Then I had to fly back with the project still in the works. I am in Dallas on a layover and my wife calls me, frantic. Apparently, the sewer line is replaced and they are beginning to fill the hole. They proceed to pour sand into the hole, well, sand dust goes EVERYWHERE!!! Under doors (into my granddaughter's room), in my kitchen, all over and in the utensil drawer, in the oven, EVERYWHERE!

Let me add one more thing, we have large parrots who have sensitive respiratory systems, which we told them about at the beginning of the project. When my waif said something to the worker, he tried to blame the dust on our exhaust fan not working properly...arguing with me wife. Not taking responsibility for his actions. I am sure he wouldn't have done that or acted like that if I was there. But, because a woman was there alone, they felt they could do whatever they wanted.

I call the project manager and tell him what is happening and he says he will talk to his guys and they will clean up the mess before they leave for the day...they did not clean a damn thing.

Finally, they are done and we need to have another company come out and do the detail work and clean up the dust.

Bottom line, I would look for another plumbing company. It is sad that it was the company culture to disrespect a woman.

Initially friendly and responsive. Overall, finished in a timely manner. Terrible at keeping appointments and communication about the project. Took multiple phone calls just to keep the project moving along.
Ridiculously overpriced. They wanted $9800 just to replace about 20m ft. of ABS pipe, no digging required. Then, they wanted to send a separate team for minimal clean-up ( which they exaggerate the extent of ) and charge fee of $2000. Total of $11,800 for a job that took 3-4 hours and involved minimal materials. EXTORTION! Feels like a scam and borders on criminal. Took multiple requests for basic documentation, i.e. invoice, contract. When the job was finished - they just left without reviewing or doing final inspection to ensure everything was working right and ensure customer had confidence. Their attitude seems to be that if they are satisfied, that is all that matters; communication with the customer does not concern them.

Dont Use Roto-Rooter in the Placer county area.
If you do, make sure when they tell you there are roots in your lines that you get a second opinion. If you make the mistake of using them, Video tape the pipes as they are removed and make them prove to you that there are actually roots in the lines. There foreman will come out and exploit the situation knowing most people are not plumbers. They will tell you exactly what they are going to do, will write the contract vaguely and than will try and continue to charge you thousands of dollars to do repairs that are not needed, but he led you to believe would be fixed in the initial quote. I feel for those who get taken advantage by this tactic.
1. Make sure you get a second opinion. No matter what.
2. Watch them take out the old pipes, inspect them, take pictures and video.
3. Ask them to show you the roots they removed.
4. Ask them to itemize your estimate and make sure every thing the foreman
tells you in the initial conversations are in the actual contract.
5. Lastly, never use Roto-rooter!

Amazing men and company! Mark and Darin from Roto-Rooters water restoration team literally saved the day! Not only did they take time to explain everything to us, but they were kind, courteous and compassionate with our sensitive situation. Our shower had a leak and it was very stressful. They were here so fast and helped us with our home. They are honest and helped us remedy our issues. They took my husbands veteran status into consideration and the major health issue my husband just went though in to account to not only keep us safe but to help us with the cost. These men were angels from the beginning and I can't thank them enough for their time, help and love. We definitely felt cared for. That is way above and beyond the call of duty in helping with moisture. My home was spared ruin and my so was my livelihood. It was really refreshing to have support during such a scary time and from people who really know what they're doing. I highly recommend them! If I could give them a million stars, I would!
