Carlos is amazing. He is very knowledgeable, very respectful and-- most importantly-- very trustworthy. He is on time, works diligently, and takes the time to explain to you exactly what he is looking for and why a certain repair is needed.
We will continue to be loyal customers of Roto Rooter as long as they have employees like Carlos working for them.

I had a clogged drain on a Saturday night and they were the only plumbers that were answering and available. When Marco got here he put down a plastic sheet to keep my kitchen clean (unlike the last plumber) and was very quick getting the job done. I would highly recommend using these guys.

This review is for Roto-Rooter and for Carlos, the plumber who came out and rescued us. Hit ""Read more"" and skip to the bottom for the exceedingly short summary if you're not crazy about reading.
A couple days ago, both showers and toilets in our house, which was completely remodeled a couple years ago, began backing up. With my parents visiting this week from out-of-state and a three-week-old infant, this couldn't have happened at a much worse time. We had a neighborhood guy come in to snake the lateral sewer line for less than $100, but despite running the snake to the main sewer line on the street, this guy couldn't clear the line. He referred us to someone else who owned a camera to inspect the lateral sewer line, which would've happened a couple days later. Mom and dad went to a hotel and we stayed with some friends.
Next day, I called a lot of plumbers and got what I felt like were some very competitive options, but no one could come real quickly. In the interest of getting us all back in the house, I begrudgingly called Roto-Rooter and as I expected, they were able to get someone in within a couple hours. I received no less than four updates during the two or three hours between my call and Carlos' arrival to provide me updates, and their ETA ended up being spot-on.
Once Carlos got there, everything went exactly as it was explained to me on the phone. I was provided a free estimate, which I felt was reasonable, but was more than estimates provided to me by competitors (to the one-star review stating that he was ripped-off because he didn't get a free estimate ... you can't expect that they'll magically know what's causing your drain issues without they doing something diagnostic like dropping a camera in the line, which will cost you something). Carlos again snaked the line, but unlike the guy who came the day before, he snaked it twice using two different spinning blades. Following that, he dropped a camera in the line and located a soft blockage.
Let's talk about Carlos for a moment: this guy was THE professional. He'd mentioned that he'd been doing this for 12 years, and that experience showed in his work. Beyond that, however, we were highly impressed with how he handled himself. He chose his words carefully and didn't speculate unnecessarily - important when you and your family are displaced from your home because you don't have functioning sewer. Costs were explained before he did anything, and he was patient - I know next to nothing about what happens after I flush my toilet, and he did a nice job of explaining what could've been going on without being an alarmist. Another reviewer described him as ""smart, professional, and honest"" - that's absolutely accurate.
Carlos found a soft blockage something like 60 feet from the clean out. He offered to snake it one more time with a larger blade and I was ready to throw in the towel, but he wanted to give it another shot. So I grabbed a beer to soften the blow of my misfortune and he's snaking the line and were talking and all of the sudden, to everyone's great surprise, the line clears with this incredible sucking sound. I think he was as excited as we were. He dropped the camera back in and found roots (which he'd cut through), cracked pipes that have pry been there since the house was built 100 years ago. You couldn't see any of that while the line was filled with water and debris. The cause of the blockage is bad news, but Carlos GOT IT DONE. Toilets flush, showers drain, and we're back in the house with a precise understanding of what's happening with our sewer line and the knowledge we need to move forward.
So let me sum this up, based on my experiences these past couple days: Roto-Rooter has top-notch equipment, and based upon my experience with Carlos, they have people who know what they're doing and can handle themselves professionally. I'm sure that I paid more than I would have with a competitor. But $100 with a competitor the day before got me no closer to resolution, and now that this is resolved, I know that the $150 I would've dropped on the next competitor wouldn't have gotten me any closer either. You MIGHT pay a little more for Roto-Rooter, but they were the guys who got the job done right and QUICKLY. I would've been happy paid much more for this result, and for Carlos. Roto-Rooter, if you guys monitor your Yelp reviews, please read this - consider giving this guy a raise. He's absolutely earning it.

If there was room for more stars I would give them.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!! On the morning of Oct. 1 at 1 a.m. in the morning, one of the tenants in our 10 unit condo complex reported a sewage flood in the bathroom of the lower level of their three story condo. As HOA president and since my mate is a licensed contractor, we are ALWAYS the first that get called in case of an emergency. Upon getting up, I realized that both of my downstairs bathrooms were flooded as well, with the water now entering the hallway and every nook and cranny of storage space under the stairs. YIKES!!!!!! Not pretty at any time, let alone at 1 a.m. in the morning.
After turning off the water to complex and abating the ""flow,"" and cleaning the best I could, I got on the phone to call 24/7 plumbers, who obviously don't know what that means. I called OVER TWENTY DIFFERENT COMPANIES. Finally, close to 3 a.m. I got ROTO-ROOTER, ON HYDE IN INGLEWOOD on the phone and even though they said someone could probably not get there for another hour to hour and a half, Jose Estrade, who works for them, got here at 3:30 a.m. - Two hours later my partner finally came back upstairs, saying that everything was O.K for now: they cleared the main from tree roots, but that we would need a diagnostic consisting of a power jet and camera work. We understood what that meant and we were advised how much it would cost and made an appointment for the next day to check it out, making sure we got Jose Estrade back, which we did.
Once again the next day they appeared right on time and after opening the main and entering it with hoses and camera, Jose and his partner Evereth Tobar revealed two breaches in the main line to the city sewer (tree roots had broken two areas in the line) that will have to be fixed - they showed to me on the camera and provided me a flash drive with the footage. NOW THIS IS WHAT I CONSIDER GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES.
Thank you very much for your stellar service, at a time of need. Your company name has been put at the top of the providers list and given to each of the tenants for when they may personally need a plumber for their individual units.
Jose and Evereth, you are two great young men and the company is lucky to have you and I wish you both luck in your future endeavors - you'll go far if you keep that great attitude you both have. Thank you again.
By the way, in case anyone is interested the invoice for the 3:30 a.m. call and the two hours of work, came to $450. which I consider well earned for that time in the morning and the fact it was an emergency call. You can always get it done for less, I suppose, if you are willing to wait and rob Peter to pay Paul in the long run. Oh yes, and I want to add - in today's world, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Rip off artists! Firstly their technician arrived two hours after the designated time and said he wasn't told about the time period. Then he said it would be 215. an hour (!) to unclog two storm drains in my patio. Thank goodness I refused to accept his estimate. Got another company who charged me half that for two hours work. It came out to around 60./ hr.

Had a plumbing issue at my home and Carlos came out to help. I cannot say enough good things about this guy-- smart, professional and honest. He quickly assessed the problem and had it fixed in less than 30 minutes. I felt that the price was fair and will rely on Carlos and Roto Rooter without hesitation the next time I have a plumbing issue.

This review is only for Carlos with Rotor Rooter, he's done a few projects for our apartment building. He's very professional, explains the work at every step, stays within the quoted amount and does a great job. We'll continue to request him :)

Me and my roommate came home to our apartment unit to find that the tub had filled with waste from other people in our building. The toilet was full of water as well. After first calling Mike Diamond and then rescue rooter I called Roto Rooter and they sent Carlos within 40 minutes. Great guy. The situation was worse than expected so he called his buddy Hector. Together, this team of skilled individuals worked through the night and was able to have the main line clear by 4:30am. I would highly recommend these guys if you want great service.

Marco the magnificent and Roto-Rooter saved me and provided prompt, exceptional service.
I essentially self destructed my toilet by accidentally flushing down a sizable piece of plastic that jammed and clogged the bowl and it's innards. Well played, young man.
Fortunately, I was able to make a same day appointment with Roto (on a Saturday) and my plumbing technician Marco arrived within three hours of my initial call. The dispatch also updated me no less than two times to let me know when to expect arrival.
Marco quickly diagnosed the situation and gave me the breakdown of the fate of my toilet and what it would cost me. He was also great about articulating what could make it more expensive and in the end we avoided the worst case scenario (thanks to Marco's experience and obvious efforts).
Happy to now have my ""go-to"" plumber in Marco & Roto-Rooter.

TOTAL RIP-OFF, DO NOT CALL THEM IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF! I would give them a ZERO if I could! So I called them to unclog the sewer drain and the technician came to find that there were no clean outs for the house. He said that it will cost $450 to use a camera in the vent on top of the roof to JUST FIND the sewer line and to avoid any gas or water lines. Then he could locate the sewer line and put in a clean out and then unclog the sewer line. I asked him to give me a ballpark estimate and he can't give me one nor can he give me a timeline on how long it would take. I then asked him if he could try to unclog the drain and he said again that he cannot do anything without a clean out. So at first I told him to go ahead to use the camera, when I thought I'd call a contractor I know and he told me to stop him immediately and refuse his services, as he was RIPPING ME OFF! Once I told the technician that I didn't want his services any more, he offered me $335 to unclog the drain. What, now he can unclog it? By this point I didn't want him to touch anything to the house and I told him again that I didn't need his services.
He came back and charged me $97.50 to ""crawl under my house"" - all he did was stick his head into the crawl space looking for the clean out. And this was before he gave me the estimate. SO FREE ESTIMATE MY ASS!
