We called them
For emergency plumbing. Dispatch said they'd have someone on their way. We went about our business, thinking the problem would be cleared up soon. We get a call 2 hours later to tell us that they don't actually service our area.

I've used Roto Rooter for several job, from an underwater pipe break to a simple faucet leak repair. They are very good about assessing the situation and explaining what need to be done, and any options I have and providing an estimate. For some jobs they've also explained what I would need to do to do the job myself, and even recommended that approach to save me money. I've even had one plumber tell me exactly what store to go to, what part to ask for and if I need help, who in the store to ask for. And said if I had trouble doing the job to call him back and he'd come do it if needed.
I respect that.

Generally speaking, these guys are good and quick and their work. And in all the work I've had done, they've never tried to add additional charges to the initial estimate after beginning the work.
My main complaint is is that for the most part, you are at their mercy when it comes to the estimate, and the jobs I've had have been all over the board. I've had one estimate for under $100 to replace the main pipe connected to the water line to close to $300 for what seemed like a simple toilet continues to run repair.
Heck, it's difficult enough to find out how much a service charge is. I know commission is a big thing and the more they charge the more they make. And I know it's hard to standardize and industry where every job is different, but it would be nice to have at least some type of idea how much the most common repairs/services are.
Otherwise, I have no problem paying a little more to use these guys knowing most of their work is guaranteed.

I had never dealt with Roto-Rooter before--I always used small local companies, but I really think that may have been a mistake because I had the best experience with this Roto-Rooter franchise.
I was buying a home in Temple and needed to get a sewer scope done before closing. Called a few local companies, and no one had either the technology or heard of such a thing. Maybe it is not a common thing to get before purchasing a home in Texas. Lo an behold, I decided to check with Roto-Rooter in Belton. They had the technology, and the office lady was helpful, and she got me an appointment on the day I wanted (2 days later). She couldn't tell me the cost over the phone, but I figured it would be in the $300 range, as I am very familiar with the inspection.
On the day of the appointment, the office called and told me the tech, Dustin, was on his way. He showed up promptly at 9am (as I had requested since it was "inspection day" at the home). Dustin was very professional, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. The technology he was using was awesome. He kept me informed of everything he did during the inspection, informed me of problems I had (showing me on the video) and went above and beyond, giving a very thorough inspection. He told me the issues I would face in the near future and told me how they could be resolved. He estimated the repairs, gave me a quick USB of the video, described the issues in full and wrote it all up in an estimate. I would also like to mention, Dustin was out in the mud, as it had rained very hard, but that muck did not prevent him from doing his job (the other trades guys I had out were cursing it, while Dustin remained happy and did not complain once).
I highly, highly recommend this Roto-Rooter. The pricing for both the inspection and projected repair was under what I was hoping. Once we close on this house, they will be my first call for the many, many plumbing repairs this house will be needing. And I highly recommend asking for Dustin. He did stellar work for me and was the ever immaculate professional!

I had an appointment through Pipe Down Services (scheduled by American Home Shield) and they were rude, obnoxious and apparently unable to come out without same day or next day.
So I call Roto-Rooter and they come out SAME DAY, no problem. Brad, the rep, gave me an estimate based on his assessment, that almost had a $100 difference. After he completed his work, it was determined it was the lessor of the two estimates. Phenomenal customer service. I just wish AHS would stop trying to find the cheapest route and just contract good companies. Thanks Roto-Rooter!

RotoRooter sent an excellent and professional plumber to analyze and prescribe a solution to the clogged pipe. Another plumbing service spent two days ($$$) trying to figure out what to do, but Josh P (#167) figured it out decisively and brought the three avenues to address the problem. He explained clearly the process/cost differences and made his recommendation, which made perfect sense. Then he delivered on the plan! The clog was deep, but the longer snake reached and dispersed the clog. He is my hero! I asked him other questions, which he competently and professionally answered, such as recommending procedures to maintain our pipes. To put the icing on the cake, he put "booties" over his shoes each time he entered the house and an additional lightweight "carpet" just outside the door to insure further that he did not track mud into the house. I like receiving the cost first rather than paying by the hour (which encourages sluggish, incompetent work). Josh was courteous and showed an impressive work ethic that others should emulate.Thank you Roto-Rooter for sending an outstanding plumber! We will be calling again (though I hope it won't be soon)!

My appointment was at 1:30 I call to find out if the 1:30 appointment is confirmed. Sorry to say the lady that answered the phone needs more training in customer services. If you don't care about your Cuestomer you are going to lose a lot of your business

If you need a Plummer, I would highly recommend Roto-Rooter, it was very easy to an appointment and the Plummer they sent out was very professional and friendly, the service he provided was exceptional, will definitely be calling them for any pluming problems that we have in the future, hopefully it won't be in the near future .
