Appreciated having Manny - 1916 come out late on a weeknight to rod a very backed up sewer. Wonderful customer service. He worked for a long time on that darn sewer! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish it were cheaper. Manny did help me with a coupon though! Thank you!
Save yourself the hassle and find an independent plumber. Called Roto Rooter to snake a drain. They promptly had someone out to do the work except ""they sent the wrong guy"". Had to wait another hour for another guy to come out and do the work. $700 later we are still having issues. Beware of their 30 day service warranty because the service you get after you pay is even worse than the service you paid for. Two days wasted waiting around on them -though one guy did suggest we replace the pipe. Oh, thank you for that! I'm sure you would like to collect the money for replacing a pipe! No thanks!
WORST COMPANY EVER. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!
Did not come during first promised time slot. Gave me a second time slot for following day. Also did not come during promised time slot. Told me they would give me 20% off because they made so many errors. Finally got a plumber who refused to give the discount the manager promised me. Also they charge an arm and a leg. Wasted many many hours that I will never get back, finally got a rude plumber, paid over $400. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!
I should have listened to Yelp in the first place. My upstairs bathtub was clogged. I called this Roto-Rooter office at about 10am. I explained the issue, and while they would not give me any kind of estimate over the phone, they said they could have someone at my house in a few hours. They also said the service guy would give me an estimate when he arrived and I could agree to have the work done then, or have him just leave. That should have been my first clue about how the service call was going to go.
Fast forward: I received five calls from their ""dispatchers"" during the day saying they ""were were running behind, but I was next on the list"" and ""they would call me 1/2 hour before arrival."" Well, at 3:45pm a couple guys just show up. No advance call. They looked at my tub and said it would $425 or some such nonsense to ""clean and treat the line."" I was miffed. I said ""I just need a clog removed"" and they said ""sorry, that's the way the company works."" I asked them to get out of my house. They never even said goodbye (ha!) - they just walked out acting all huffy! So I called someone local.
Do yourself a favor and heed the advice of others who have posted here. Check out the ratings on Yelp and call a plumber who others have trusted to do the work and treat you fairly.
Costa G.These guys are nothing short of butchers. To call these guy plumbers is absolutely disrespectful to real plumbers. I called the other day because both our first floor bathrooms were backed up (2 showers, 2 toilets) figured it was main stack clogged. Our usual plumber was not immediately available and this is the only reason I called these guys.
Some mean looking Russian guy shows up during my lunch break from work. Tells me it will cost $400. I said that is absurd and he said he'd take off $40 for some stupid promotion they had. I said fine IF THE JOB IS COMPLETE I will pay that amount and asked how much it would be if the job is not complete, he said we will figure that out if we have to.
He begins power rodding from our brand new CLEAN shower. He made a complete mess as his rodder had a lot of rust on it and it was spraying everywhere. I asked him wouldn't it be easier to rod from the toilet? He said absolutely not. After 1 hour of nothing being accomplished and making a mess he said he wanted to try rodding from the vanity drain. So he started doing that, and after another hour made a bigger mess under the vanity. 2 hours gone by he did not fix the issue. I asked how long he expected it to be and he became salty and gave me a speech on how these things take time. He said he needs to come back with a camera for another $325. I told him he is crazy and asked that he leave. He pleaded with me to get $150 for the 2 hours he spent trying. I said absolutely not, and gave him $10 for lunch and to take a hike. He said something is wrong with me for not having it in my heart to pay him. Are you F*ckin serious? Where I come from no one gets paid until the job is done.
Long story short, I begged my real plumber to come the following day to fix the issue. He popped our toilet off (10 minutes) rodded the main toilet drain (another 10 minutes) and fixed the issue in less than a half hour. He popped the toilet back on, and asked me for a mere $100 for all his work. I have never been happier to pay. Issue resolved NO THANKS TO ROTO!
Fawn D.Frank is the master plumber. He is meticulous, thorough and helpful. 1 star off only because I wish it was cheaper.
Appreciated getting a quick response for a same day, late evening plumbing call.
Roger, the service tech was pleasant and efficient.
We had a similar experience. $330 for a 30 minute job to replace the parts in the tank of the toilet. Since I'm not independently wealthy I will not be able to afford using Roto Rooter again. The prices are absurd.
Had a clogged disposal and thought a nationally known chain would be a good choice. WRONG!!!!... my bad for not doing a Yelp search.
The up-front review of work and the costs was done so quickly and haphazardly and w/o anything in writing ...that the final amount due was a SHOCK
They did the job.... and then charged us BIG $$$$. What I believe was simply a clogged disposal was diagnosed as a 'closed' disposal???? and leaky sprayer.
Assuming that was even the case... we were charged $350 for a faucet and disposal that sells at Big Box for $180 and charged $600 to install (it took 1.5 hours) ... oh and don't forget the gallon of pipe treatment that cost $50
$1000 later I have an installed kitchen faucet and disposal that cost as much as my installed Dishwasher AND Range.
When I called to complain - I DID receive quick response... but was basically told ....""you approved the work. we charged you correctly - that's our rates and we're competitive"".
NOT!! - Subsequent reseach found 4 other random plumbers who would install for $250...so we were overcharged $500!!!
Suggested solution of me buying the identical faucet and disposal for 180 and returning it for the $350 paid... that was turned down flat
Needless to say - I've learned my lesson and will NOT use them again.
Christopher B.Great job on a same day service call to diagnose and fix a leaky toilet in my upstairs bathroom; not an easy job. The Roto-Rooter guy made it go away fast. And the price was just right.
