Roto Rooter Plainfield, IL. BAD !!! BAD!!! BAD!!!Don't use this company they're a total rip-off . Work got done but very expensive.
Cleaned out a clogged kitchen drain for $520. Shame on me. But when I needed it to be done what else can you do. Can't even think how much they would charge for a water heater or simple pluming repair problem. Even called Roto - Rooter but received no satisfaction or even an apology for their pricing.
Conclusion: Find another company or even better a good plumber.

I wish I could give them a 0. We called because our sump pump went out. They told us they will come out the next day. Well that guy a guy came by to look at it to make sure what it was. Then after he left one of our friends came by and ended up changing our sump pump. So I called to cancel them since we didnt need them to come out anymore. First the guy was like how did you get my number? I told him he wrote it down. Told him my address. The guy was so rude on the phone. He said we can help clean up with the mold I said no we will be good. The water didnt get high and the walls are dry now. He was telling me well good luck on your mold! Then hung up on me. So rude! I cant believe your going to act like that. Never using this company in the future!

Horrible experience. First I was told they would send done one out same day then called back an hour later to tell me that the plumber got hurt and had to go to the hospital and they would get some out the next day. The next day comes and we get a call saying they don't have a plumber in my area and need to reschedule again. I hate when a company says one thing then does the opposite. You should know if you have someone for the area before you give me an appointment. I smell something from roto-rooter as bad as the sewage in my basement I called them to fix.

The tech was here for about 45 min. It cost me $475.00 to rod a kitchen sink that only took him about 15 min. Save your money! They are in the business of rippining people off!

Don't use!!!! $500.00 to rod a kitchen drain. Wow what a rip off. That's with $40.00 discount.
Wont use again, and will not recommend!!!

I'm advising everyone to find another company. And if you have had work done by them recently, give a plumber a call to check the work that they did. You'll thank me when your bathroom doesn't flood.

I want to RETRACT my rave review of Roto Rooter... I am leaving it below but am posting my thoughts on Roto Rooter... RIP OFF ! I am kindof p-o'ed right now because of what I learned yesterday....

VERY disappointed in RotoRooter... I just had a Plumber over yesterday for a leaky sink and told him about my toilet issue from when I had RR out, and he explained to me that it should not have cost any more than $150 ! Why did I pay RR $370 ? Not only that, but SO many people have told me I paid too much for RR...

Plus I had the RR guy over for a ""FREE"" estimate AND -- *I* did ALL THE CLEANUP MYSELF for the guy since he said he was giving me SUCH a great discount.... Not cool...

I would like to retract my message from a few months ago.... I should have listened to my gut feeling and stuck with my LOCAL ""Family Owned"" businesses instead... Aymee Dellutri - Illinois

ORIGINAL MESSAGE --
I have to admit, I was a bit unsure about calling Roto-Rooter at first, only because it seemed too commercial and we usually use Family Owned businesses for our needs, but figured a free estimate couldn't hurt... I was so pleasantly surprised !

When Eddie (service provider # 1617) came in, he was more than willing to work with us in every aspect. He was fun to talk with, and showed me what was going on in our pipes. (For being such a poopy job, it was actually kindof fun to watch and learn !) :)

He was patient and calm, and worked hard...

Within minutes our problems were ""down the drain"" indeed, and we have not had any issues since. I could not have been happier to hear that toilet flush again !

The Roto-Rooter jingle has always been in my head, and I was glad to see they still use it in their pamphlet.

I was very glad we called Roto-Rooter, and am proud to say we would definitely use them again in the future !

Thanks Eddie for a job well done, your wonderful Customer Service and knowledge has gained Roto-Rooter a new Customer !

Always ~

One star is too good for this company. If I could give it a negative rating I would. My husband starting installing a new water heater. He had everything set up and when he sweated the pipe, it was too long. It was 11:00 p.m. and he decided to call a plumber to finish the job. He called Roto Rooter and they said they would come the next morning. They came to my house at 7:00 a.m. and completed the job. He said that my husband had done everything right and that if he let the original sweated pipe dry longer, my husband would have been able to complete the job. Roto Rooter charged us the exorbitant rate of $550. I have talked with other plumbers since that time and the going rate to install a new water heater is $250-$300 (and that's the entire job not just finishing one). They completely priced gauged us, but our hands were tied. No wonder their policy is to never give an estimate over the phone. WHAT THEY DID SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!

We recently had a clog in our drain that I was unable to clear myself so I went to Yelp and read the reviews and decided to give Mark from Roto Rooter a chance. Mark was very nice and discovered the problem fairly quickly and had to power route a pipe in my basement. I would absolutely use him again.

He also gave me good advice and told me not to rely on garage dispolsals since they don't always chop off food properly.
