I called at 8:00 a.m. this morning because my kitchen sink is clogged. I was assured someone would call and come out today. I called again twice during the day and was told both times that we were on the schedule and would get a call. It's now after 10:00 p.m. now and I never got a call back. If I had known they'd be so unresponsive I would have called someone else. Don't waste your time.

I would give zero stars. I waited all day for technitian called at 5pm they said he'd arrive by 8 pm at 9:30 I was told the service was completed even though no one came to house. When talked to Chris no answers were given and told I'd be contacted. Asked since they changed the appointment would i be charged after hours prices and no answer was given.

I would not recommend Roto-Rooter in Corpus Christi. I paid up front for work to be done at my property and it took 3 calls and 3 business days just to get the job on the schedule. The project management team is unresponsive and only returns your call after you call to complain. The work was then scheduled for the following day but the crew no-showed. I called 4 hours past the scheduled time of arrival and was told they were on their way. At this point, I don't trust that the company will complete the job as quoted and I will be calling another company. 1 star, would not recommend

Used them for a leak in the bathroom at work. They charged me $500 and did NOT fix the problem, they said it was an issue too deep for their equipment and would need to tear up the bathroom to get to the issue. They gave me an estimate of $9000!!! I called another plumber for a 2nd opinion and it wasn't even an issue with our bathroom, it was a pipe in the wall from the next suite. It cost $200 to fix!!!

Used them twice in two weeks on two different houses. One they said they needed to tear up backyard to fix a blockage. Called another plumbing co for a 2nd opinion. They fixed it in less than 30 minutes. Charge was $4,000 less!!

We call Roto-Rooter thinking they were top of the line business with their name well known. The service tech comes after waiting over almost 8 hours later for a 8 am appointment. That we have to keep calling to get updates from the company if they were still coming. We we had a stopped up and leaking toilet so we had to shut off the water to the house for all those hours. The tech finally shows up to the house, never touches the toilets at all. He did run the snake in the drain as well as rip up our grass in the process. Can you say, he didn't know what he was doing. So let's say after being charged almost $700 to tell us that we shouldn't have any more problems now, but if we do just give them a call. So less than a week later here we go again, stopped up toilet and leaking all over the floor. We call Roto-Rooter once again, and a different tech comes out. Now this tech states that the first one was fired and no longer works there. Ok so this tech is a little more thorough with his services, but now states we are looking at $10k worth of damage now. Ugh!!! So how did the first tech miss all this you say?? We are asking the same questions. Knowing we don't have a choice about the problem we put a down payment for the work. So then the workers finally show up, and when they they work half days. They tear up our yard and use all of our equipment to do their work. Then they left our yard looking terrible and actually left part of the pipe uncovered outside the fence. My husband had to go behind them and clean up their mess. We went into the office to pay off the rest of the bill so we would have proof it was paid. Received a paid in full statement from CINDY the office worker. Then days turned into weeks then into months that our check wasn't deposited into the bank. So after almost 3 MONTHS we get a call from Roto-Rooter that they lost almost 30 deposit check of clients and now they want us to feel responsible for their mistakes. So after being over charged, our property treated like crap, and now we are being treated like we are the ones who messed up in the end. Plus in all honest opinion they probably damaged the pipes with their equipment so we had no choice but to spend all that money to fix them in the end. Plus, without our permission they contacted our bank to check if we have the money in the bank to cover the cost of the charges. Which they put my husband on a 3 way with the bank so he can give all his personal information, like access numbers, SSN, and everything that can be used to rip us off if they wanted...all while they are recording the conversation. Only to be told the money is available. Oh as far as our issues with the toilets...we still have strong sewer smell coming from the showers, toilets and sinks now. So to do a review you have to give a star so 1 STAR is way too much in my opinion!!!

My wife and I were very impressed by the courteous and professional service that Justin Geelan and his assistant Sam provided to us in fixing our leaking toilet including also repairing our outside frozen and leaking water facets in the front and back yards of our house. Before any work was done Justin explained in perfect detail exactly what was going to be done and exactly how much it was going to cost. Justin was able to find plumbing problems we didn't know we had and fix them before they got worse, therefore saving us a lot trouble and money down the road. Therefore, this service call worth every dime. We would highly recommend Justin and Sam to anybody needing plumbing work done. Plus our maintenance contract with Roto-Rooter was worth the extra cost since we saved a bundle with the applied membership discounts. Thanks for the prompt and professional service provided.

Roto Rooter & Smart Plumbing
10/6/2018
Sometime about mid to end of September my water heater died. We had a rainy September and I remembered the time it died about a month or so prior, it was rainy. That time I called out the guy who installed it and I told him what happened and he came out and relit the pilot and charged me $120 for about 10 minutes of work.
But what he told me was that when it rains really hard, like it had, the pan under the heater fills with water and snuffs the pilot because there is no oxygen left to feed the flame. Understandable, so, when September rolled around and it just poured pretty much all month long the water heater went out towards the end of September.
It was still very hot outside and I didn't mind cold showers. Boiling water to wash dishes was a bit of an annoyance, but oh well, small price to pay. Besides, it was still raining and God only knows when it's going to stop.
Now had I been wise in the first place, I should have gone out when that first rain drop fell and cut the lip of the pan, bend it flush with the bottom so it would not fill with water and put out the pilot. (That's one of the B I G lessons I learned here.) But at that time, I was not wise. I thought something must be really wrong with the water heater.
On 10/6/2018, the City Gas Department came out to relight the heater. The man told me that I needed to get the water out of the pan before anything can be done. (Hindsight.) He left and told me to call back once I get the water out. So there I am trying to get the water out and all I have is one of those things you use to get snot out of a baby's nose. So there I sat in front of the water heater sucking up water into the baby snot sucker for about 45 minutes. But I got it! I called the gas department again and they sent out another guy, a much younger guy. He looked at it, I told him the story and he said he had to issue me a warning because I needed to get someone to work on the water heater because it wasn't igniting.
Yay.
My next step was to call a professional. I got on line with Home Advisor and found Roto Rooter was the only company willing to come out to my house to fix the water heater. I figured it was going to cost me an arm and a leg but I at least I could get an estimate and save up for it and get it done. Roto Rooter made an appointment with me. Broke it. Made another one. Broke it. I pretty much gave up on them and Home Advisor.
So then I found Smart Plumbing. The plumber came out that day and I'm not sure what his problem was, allergies or chewing tobacco, but that was the spittingist man I ever did see. Anyhow, he barely touches the water heater, tells me I need a new one and it's going to be $1,200 for the whole shebang. I say, "I'll get back to you." He was there maybe 5 minutes, if that. After I saw the Smart Plumbing guy, I borrowed a pair of tin snips from my work and I cut the lip on the water heater and bent it down so it will never hold water. In the mean time, Roto Rooter calls me and it's the manager. He says he'll be out to come and give me an estimate. He's there maybe 10 minutes, if that, and tells me I need a new water heater and it'll cost me $1,338.73. I say, "I'll get back to you."
I'm stuck. I don't have that kind of money and winter is coming. I pray hard.
I went to different friends' houses and borrowed their showers. Not too often though, I took many a cold shower, I didn't want to take advantage of their kindness.
Then a friend of mine tells me he's going to come and look at it and see if he can fix it. He doesn't.
I'm stuck. I pray harder.
So I get home on November 7th and my neighbor is outside his house. He asked me how I've been. I tell him about the water heater. He comes over, taps on the gas control housing with his wrench, turns on the pilot, half an hour later, I had hot water.
My advice to you is that if you have an outdoor water heater, cut the lip of the pan and bend it out flat. The pan is there for when the water heater is inside and it has a leak and so water won't get on your floors. Outside, because the rain can sometimes get into your water heater house, you don't really need the pan to hold water. Cut the thing, save some money.
My complaint is that these plumbing companies see a lady on her own and say, "Oh you need a new one, it's going to cost $1,200" or whatever. Or they just do not fix water heaters. That's not where the money is, I guess. Here's the thing plumbing companies ... yes, ALL of you. They make parts for water heaters so they CAN be fixed. If you took your car to a mechanic and said, "My engine won't work." Mechanic tells you, "Oh you need a new one, it's going to cost you $5,000" and he never even checks it out to see if it is fixable, you'd be mad.
