I was SHOCKED at the price to unclog two drains. It was $550 for 15 minutes of work - and I booked the appointment with 48 hours notice. I guess I should have asked the price first since last time I called a plumber to unclog a drain it was $100. The work was fine, but RR is a total ripoff.

They need new policies concerning emergency work on weekends. I have been waiting all day for my 11am-1pm appointment. Meanwhile I can't use indoor plumbing. I am told because I ""missed"" a call at 11:53am and called back at 12:04pm that my slot was given away. First off, why bother calling me. Do YOU REALLY think I am not going to be home when I call Sunday morning for emergency service? Maybe I left and went out on my yacht while toilet effluent was backing up all over? Or maybe I missed the call because I was trying to keep the sh*t at bay? I was told they only wait 1-2 minutes before cancelling. Again, I didn't even need a confirmation call for an emergency. Second give a guy a damn chance. totally pissed.

I called Roto rooter for a washing machine backing up. Unfriendly man arrived in a timely fashion but he said well one drain $449.00 if two $660.00 Outrageous.
Said I can afford that, he said OK and left! Then called my plumber who is laid up but gave me the name Rooter-Man. They quoted on the phone and he was there, a lovely, friendly, helpful man shortly and fixed the issue for $139.00 Wow what a difference

These clowns spent 3 hours trying to get their equipment to work, charged me over $700 and did absolutely nothing useful. (This is an octopus organization and it's difficult to identify exactly which location or phone number this group was associated with,)

I called the Roto Rooter main line. The phone number that returned my call was 413-775-0003 in Greenfield, MA. I called before 8 am this morning and was given a 6-8pm appointment. It's now 9:30pm and on my 5th call to Roto Rooter, I was told they had appointments they were working on that were schedule for 1:00 pm! I couldn't believe they were working on appointments that were scheduled 9 hours ago! This is the second and last time I will ever use Roto Rooter. Roto Rooter has been giving me the run around since 6 pm tonight. They have all the excuses - the plumber in Sudbury who was supposed to be here got called to a pipe leak. Their ""drain technician"" who is in Framingham should have been here hours ago. Roto Rooter is any thing but dependable. Call an independent to get better and more reliable service. As I sit here, a return customer waiting for 4 hours, I can tell you from experience that I will never call them again. I can't even begin to understand how they are still in business with their extremely poor business practices.

If I could give this place .25 stars I would. A plumber came to our house for 20 minutes to simply unclog a drain and he ripped me off big time. After calling other companies for the same service I found out that it should have only cost $150-200. Clearly this plumber knew I was not in this type of business and decided to triple charge me. 20 minutes of service, one unclogged drain, nearly $450. ABSURD. When we called to complain the company basically said that I should have known better before accepting the job.

The water in my sewer pipe started to back up, noticed it when the washing machine overflowed onto the floor. Called Roto Rooter at 12:30 and had someone unclogging the outside pipe within an hour.
Pipe works and they will be sending over someone with a camera for further inspection.
The cost was high, but much cheaper than digging up and replacing pipes.

The quality of the service your receive is based on the quality of the technician they send out to you. My technician today was excellent and knew his stuff.

I was 'ripped off' by Roto-Rooter, who charged $375 ($415 minus $40 coupon) for 20 minutes in my house.

When I originally called Rotor Rooter to make an appointment I asked if they send ""licensed plumbers"". The answer I was given was ""YES"". I asked what they charge and what the fee was based upon. They refused to give me any information regarding fees and said that when the Roto-Rooter plumber gets to my house he would let me know.

When the Roto-Rooter man arrived he gave no indication of what he would be doing and how long it would take. When asked, he also told me he is not a licensed plumber. He told me the cost would be $415 (minus the $40 internet coupon), which indicated to me, that this was going to be a ""BIG JOB"".

However, it only took him under 15 minutes to open a trap in my kitchen sink, then snaking and closing trap. NO PARTS were used. After seeing how quickly his job was done, if asked him to show me how to ""make the water in my bathroom go down quicker"" and he said there would an additional charge. WOW!

Afterwards I was so upset at being ""RIPPED OFF"" that I called Roto-Rooter. I had to speak with 3 people. The third and last person I finally reached, Bill, the manager, would do absolutely nothing for me.

On the internet it says the average hourly rate for licensed plumbers is between $75 to $125 plus parts. So Roto-Rooter's unlicensed person was charging about $1000 per hour!

I suggest that you NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ROTO-ROOTER!!
