I just want to say thank you to the technician who came out today John. Not only did he find the problem but he helped us figure out how we're going to fix it. He explained it in a way that I could understand it and that it wasn't Greek. Even though we had some problems in the beginning with Roto-Rooter they did come through in the end. The service we asked for was completed. Thank you
Roto told me they could not change my sewer line down to the street because it was too deep and charged me $6500 to replace a 15ft line where tree roots had grown into the old clay pipe. I since then had two other companies come out and say they absolutely can replace it to the street and for $5000. In the process they cut down a fence without asking and despite several requests and telling me they would, they never returned to help. They also got all the measurements wrong in a remediation, and left out an entire closet in their diagram. Once they get your money, it's hard to get any kind of communication from them. It took over two weeks from when the work had finished to even get the final report sent to insurance, and when they did it was to an old insurance claim number, so insurance never got it. It took over an additional week for them to finally send it correctly. Do not use their services. If you have an emergency and call them, don't be an idiot like me and get a second opinion before they convince you, which they will try, that you need immediate remediation and to sign the contract right away.
Awful, call any one but them. Never showed up. Called 20 hours later to see if still needed. Not a good company.
We had a leaky tub faucet that needed attention; after calling about ten plumbers, Roto Rooter was the only one that responded and came to look at the issue. They were friendly, quickly identified the issue, and discovered that water had been pouring into our crawl space. We agreed to let them bill insurance and, if approved, clean up the issue. Obviously it's best practice to get multiple bids, but with no other companies responding and mold growth imminent in the hot weather, we didn't feel like we had any other options. I have HUGE regrets for not just doing it myself. We had some serious medical issues going on at the time which is why we figured we'd just have to shell out some money, but in hindsight I'd rather have risked busting some stitches. The cleanup job (crew of three people) took three hours; the bill was $2,700. When they finished, the plan was for them to leave a big dehumidifier in our crawl space for five days to finish drying things out. It turned off after one day. We figured, ""Great! It must already be dry."" That's how our little household unit works, anyway--when it reaches the desired humidity, it turns off. They collected their unit, made my husband sign something (in the middle of his work day and just a couple of days after surgery, so he wasn't physically able to inspect anything) saying we were happy with the service (DON'T EVER SIGN THOSE THINGS unless you actually know what you're doing and whether the job was done right), and left. Much to our surprise, a couple of weeks later when we plugged something into the seldom-used garage circuit they used for the dehumidifier, it was fried. Not just a tripped breaker--we found the junction box in the attic and it had overheated and started a small fire. We are so thankful our house didn't burn down. At this point, though, we started putting two and two together--the dehumidifier hadn't automatically turned off, but stopped when it lost power. So someone from Roto-Rooter came to collect the unit, realized that it wasn't working as it should have been, and instead of letting us know about the electrical issue and double-checking that the crawl space was indeed dry enough, they just got my husband to sign something they figured would cover their butts and went on their way. They haven't responded to any follow-up emails.
DO NOT EVER USE Roto Rooter!!! They will scam you!! They charged us for fixing a clogged drain (it was not fixed). They told us they would have to tear up our basement to fix the problem and they wanted us to commit to a $5,100 bill before they knew what the problem was!! We had a plumber come out and fix the problem for $400. DO NOT FALL FOR THE SCAM!!
we ended up with old collapsed sew pipes. Plumber Anothany Kerstiens and labor Edwin Serrano were very professional and continuous work during a bad heatwave earlier this week. We we're kept in the loop as things were done. It's hard to put a price on somethings. Did we pay more? Maybe or maybe no, You pay for what you get and I got high quality work done. I would highly recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone! That you for taking care of our issue. Promptly, efficiently and professionall.
A wet spot suddenly appeared on our first floor ceiling beneath an upstairs bedroom. Roto-Rooter was the third plumber we called, but had the earliest available appointment, so they got the job. They replaced a short section of copper water supply line to an upstairs bathroom, where a pinhole leak had occurred in a joint. The work is guaranteed for 6 months, and we don't expect any further problem with it.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed regarding the lack of professionalism and complete lack of respect the Champaign, Illinois Rotorooter gave us during a recent job. They boast having some of the best plumbers in the business, but I find that hard to believe. We had sewage back up that spilled over to a portion of our basement on a Thursday night. The Rotorooter guy came that night to snake the line. He removed some of it and explained that he would need to send a plumber back the next morning to determine where the blockage of the pipes was at. It was determined the next day that we had a 3rd level contamination in the basement, which is dangerous to breath in. We spent the night in the house not knowing the danger of being in the house, because no one told. The plumber who who tried to assess the situation completely got it wrong, An area that he thought was blocked was convinced that was the problem as a camera nor the snake couldn't get past a certain area, because that pipe was capped. We as homeowners explained that we believe the problem was in a particular area of the basement, but Rotorooter didn't listen to us and tore up the shower with a jackhammer. The problem wasn't there, but was where we thought it might be. They still charged us for tearing up the shower when there wasn't an issue to begin with. That didn't matter to them, as they still charged us. They did double work as the 1st crew putting in the pipe didn't seal it properly and had additional leaking pipes. They left mud everywhere and dismantled parts all over the basement. The Rotorooter Restoration Team came back twice to clean and sanitize my basement. They put gouges in my basement doors and floors. They used a concrete saw to get to the pipes and left concrete dust all over my basement floor and 1st floor carpeting. How many apologies can you make before you make it right? They even used my shoes as a door stop. Disrespectful and appalling. They had empty excuses.
We felt like we were only dollar signs to them with no compassion and/or concern for our situation. There is additional items that were wrong that I won't mention, but you get the idea.
Lack of professionalism, no respect, lack of communication. The worst experience I have ever been through. I will never use Rotorooter, nor the one in Champaign again. This location services all of Central Illinois.
