Had Noah from Roto-Rooter show up yesterday. We needed the kitchen faucet replaced and the toilet float replaced and had a question about installing a washer and dryer. He said he couldn't replace the faucet unless we pulled up the entire countertop to replace a board under the faucet and he couldn't do that. He told us to hire a General Contractor. That sounded ridiculous to me, but I said OK and moved on to the next project. The next project was the toilet float replacement since it was broken and the toilet just runs constantly. He looked at it and said it would be just shy of $500!!!! to replace the toilet float. I said forget it. I can replace it myself. For $500 I could replace the entire toilet with a brand new one. We moved on to ""Could we put a Washer/Dryer in the house"". He refused to even look or help. He said I needed a General Contractor. I said I need a plumber to put in the drain and the ducting for the washer/dryer. He said he doesn't do that and wouldn't look at it. Absolutely ridiculous prices, and a general unwillingness to help complete any of the projects or even advise us on what is possible made for a very bad experience. I instead called a handyman over (a handyman has less training and generally less ability than a licensed plumber). The handyman was able to complete the Faucet install and said it only needed a metal plate (that came with the faucet) under the board to keep it snug... not a full kitchen overhaul where we had to remove the countertops. I went and purchased the toilet float while he installed the faucet. He then fixed the toilet and consulted us on what was and was not possible regarding our Washer/dryer install. Total cost for both projects plus consulting with us on the third project was... $350. That's much better than the $500 Roto-rooter wanted to charge for just one project... the easy one. Avoid this place. They want easy money only and are unwilling to do most work. Call the handyman instead. His name and number: Zilvinas 818-404-6068.

I called Roto Rooter at 323 435-3497 and they sent out Christopher the following morning, which I thought was good. The tenant said she wasn't getting hot water, so I figured it was the hot water heater. Christopher called me after looking at the water heater and told me it would either cost about $900 to replace the burner, with $582 labor and the rest the approximate cost of the part. He charged $1210 labor to replace a new water heater. Well, since I'm no fool, like Christopher apparently thought I was, I went with another plumber. That plumber went out the following day and told me that 1) the water heater still had a 1 yr warranty 2) that meant the part that Christoper claimed would cost over $300, was FREE! 3) to replace the water heater, the charge would be no more than $700, and the water heater would be approx $600-650 4) his cost to replace the burner is less than $300.
I had looked up the cost of a water heater and the cost to replace one, and nowhere did I see anything close to $1210. Christopher said that he was only using the chart from his company, Roto Rooter for the labor. I called Roto Rooter after speaking with Christopher and the rep that answered the phone was absolutely no help. She basically said she had no idea about the charges, but never offered to get someone that could help me. Instead of wasting more of my energy on this company, I moved on. Well, Christopher and Roto Rooter, both of you can go chuck rocks!

I've been in property management for over 10 years and had many many plumbers. I had roto-rooter out because we had a simple slow drain on a bathtub. They quoted $405 for a simple snake... not even to the main line...which is an outrageous price for that procedure. I kindly said we'd use another plumber instead at a more reasonable price. The roto-rooter tech asked me how much I expected the other plumber to charge and I said around $200. He then said he'd do it for $200. These guys are scam artists. And at minimum they are way way overpriced.

Unlawful activity ----- I had them come for a blockage. They snaked and did a camera in the outflow drain in my front yard. THEY NEVER SHOWED ME THE CAMERA EVIDENCE. Yet they told me I had a broken underground pipe most likely. I ASKED TO SEE THE CAMERA EVIDENCE and they told me the camera guy had already left. I asked them where is the break on the property and THE SUPERVISOR TOLD ME HE COULD NOT TELL ME WHERE THE BREAK IN THE PIPE WAS because I might get another plumbing company and not pay them.
SO I'M PAYING FOR SERVICES AND I'M NOT ALLOWED TO SEE THE SUPPORTING EVIDENCE. They also quoted me a price that has now risen from a few hundred to over four thousand dollars. This behavior is misleading, lying, and unlawful. They are simply coming to your home, not to fix the problem, but to SELL you on a more expensive and unnecessary plumbing job. They lie and tell you that your problem is worse than it is.
I hired another plumbing service to do the camera and found that all my pipes were clear and intact. All that Roto Rooter needed to do was a simple snaking of the kitchen sink, which they NEVER DID.
NEVER HIRE ANYONE WITH 'ROOTER' IN THEIR NAME.
I have all the makings of a lawsuit with Roto Rooter.

This is the 3rd time we've used this service and have been completely satisfied each time. Today I called in a panic after the kitchen sink was completely backed up. The person who answered was apologetic for having to make me wait for service. I couldn't believe it...I was expecting him to say no one would be able to come today. Someone named Miguel came to our house approximately 2 hours after I called. He was friendly, professional and super helpful. After figuring out what needed to be done, he worked hard as he snaked underneath the house several times to deal with the problem. He was patient and informative as he worked and cleaned up really well afterward. It was approximately $200 and well worth it!

The WORST experience with a company maybe ever. I am STILL waiting for someone to come to my apartment after being told that it would be from 10am-12pm. It is now 3pm and the person apparently went to the wrong address and now is not coming at all. Time updates were not given by the company, rather I have had to call upwards of 6 times in the last 5+ hours. I am livid. Fix your system.

Terrible experience! We had an appointment confirmed on a Saturday from 2:00-4:00pm.

4:00pm arrived, no show, no call.

I called Roto Rooter to get an ETA and was informed there would be a 4-hour delay and the individuals would not be there until between 8:00-10:00pm. If they would have called, to inform, we could have had an opportunity or a choice to work around their delay, as it is, we were held to their word and lost a day and now will have to wait a week to have another company come next saturday, which is our next day off.
