Tom S.STAY AWAY! None friendly """"STEVEN FLANIGAN"""" IS an unprofessional, rude, septic pump technician, I needed pumping out my septic tank and put a septic tank riser, after he gave me very high price on a riser I decided not to go with riser, I told him just do the pumping, he got very angry and told me go with different company, I called the office and made a complaint. Zero out of Five STAR!!!!
DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!! They do not deserve the 1 star ,however I had to select something to post this review. Rooter Plus takes advantage of your ignorance when you are in emergency mode. Choose Rooter Plus because of the quoted price of $150 -$250 and that they were able to come out on Sunday, Father's Day. We had an issue of water backing into the house when toilets flushed upstairs, causing water to spill out from the downstairs/basement toilet,- basement flooding. The technicians were about 1- 1 1/2 hours late and had some trouble finding the tank, which took about 40 -45 minutes or so. We were told again the cost would be $150 -$250 to pump. They got the tank open and stuck the shovel in the sludge. After assessing the state of the tank So, they informed us that per their expertise in the subject, that the issue is related to tank which can cost $8-11K to replace, however that can drain, add some chemical to break up the sludge at the bottom of the tank and clear the line (repairs) and the cost would be $3900 giving us another 20 years with the current, which is the same amount of years of replacing the tank. We gave the authorization, as we believed that the company had our best interest and was really addressing the emergency circumstance and gave the authorization. After completing the work, which took about 50 minutes, and the technician was ready to close out/collect payment, our tenant who is a former plumber began questioning the job performed and asking them to break down the charges. Per the explanation, he advised them they were overcharging (price gouging). Provided the credit card for the following charges below: image.png After further research, and reading other complaints this company discriminates and takes advantage of hard-working honest people. Another case... If you are black and ignorant. They will get you... they got us. Buyer Beware
They lied about pricing, ended up charging us five times more than what was quoted. At first they said it was an additional $300. Reluctantly my husband agreed, but then when it came time to pay, it had gone from $150 to $750. Last I checked, $150+ 300 is $450. I will never use this company again, and recommend you don't either. Edited to add: they also changed the amount AFTER he signed authorizing the work, so they lied to him and falsified it after he signed. We'll be reporting to the better business bureau as well.
I am having a difficult time with how to put into words about this company. I was always told to start with the positive. They came on time. According to the receipt the draining of the 1,000 gallon tank was only 150.00. The work was done efficiently. That is where the positive comments end. Step by step this employee did tell my husband what he was doing or going to do, but once the septic tank is open the homeowner is between a rock and a hard place. It is not like you can say...stop I need a second opinion. Yes there is always unexpected problems but we were never told about what problems could occur and if so how much it might cost if we have them Like a checklist or work order with all the things possible and costs. That way he can show the homeowner the form The company needs to show the homeowner what you found and the homeowner can see the cost. This person just put down a whole bunch of codes and fees after the fact. The price went from 150.00 to 450.00 to over 4500.00 and yet we pad over 6,000.00. For instance you will be charged 550.00 just for them entering the tank. Then 550.00 to take off valve and 450 to put it back on. That is over 1500.00 for less than 15 min of work. Who pays money just for a waitress to come to your table then pay for food then pay separately for using the table and cleanup. Maybe if we had gone out to eat more we would use public restrooms more often so we don't have septic issues. Please be aware of any septic service that quotes you a lowball price to empty your tank. They know all the possible problems that may occur and should let you know up front that many times you might pay much much much more.
Mitch came on a Sunday to fix a leaky toilet. He was courteous and did a fine job. I had a great experience with this company!!
We expected a charge of $300-$350 for the initial pumping. The technician, Steve Flanigan, added $550 to replace a baffle (ok, but $550, last time it was $65?), $319.25 to pump the septic drain field (which was not done as he never touched the drain field with a hose) and $1854.14 for an OXIDIZER treatment for the drain field (this product costs about $50 for a 1 year supply and all he did was pour it into the tank?). These additional and extensive costs were not explained to my wife before they did the work. He told her if we didn't pay them, they would put a lien on our property. My wife paid by credit card to ensure we had some right to dispute the excessive costs for a relatively minor service. We were charged a total of $2948.30 for a simple septic tank pumping and overcharged by about $2500-$2600 in my opinion. I would like a full explanation of the reasoning for these high costs and why we were not informed of them before the work began.
If I could give a 0 stars I would. I had a small leak under the faucet that I thought I could fix myself. I was wrong. I called rooter-plus because it was the weekend and needed the bathroom sink fixed. I called and set up a time between 12 and 4, they showed up at 10 while we were at church. When I called them back, they were a little snippy because I """"didn't answer the phone"""". I advised we were in church and had been told our time window was 12 to 4. So they sent our technician back out. Mitch was great. The bathroom sink was chipped and could possibly leak, so we decided to replace the sink and Mitch couldn't finish the job at that time. He said he was off on Mondays and Tuesday's, but he would be back on Wednesday. Mitch advised he spent mondays and tuesdays with his family. Rooter plus called to set up Mitch's return visit between 8am and noon. So we waited, and waited and waited. They called around 11 to say Mitch had a job that had rolled over from Tuesday (????) and he was running later than expected. Would it be OK if he came between noon and 4pm. I said fine. Round 2 they called to say Mitch wasn't going to be able to make it Wednesday, but could come Thursday. I advised them Thursday wouldn't work due to us having to work. They then said they could send a different tech, but it would be between 6 to 6:30pm. I said that was great. We just needed the sink fixed. So again we waited. 6:45pm rolls around and no tech. When I called rooter plus to find out where the tech was I was told """" he was on a job that cost more"""" . To me, that felt like since my fix wasn't in the thousands of dollars I wasn't worth them coming out to fix the sink. They want their $ in a hurry and say they care about customer service. But I beg to differ.
Very reluctant to leave bad reviews but feel compelled to do so here: Rooter plus came to my house to assess a broken but not leaking spigot. Plumber could not fix and left spigot running all day. He said only option was to cut into wall because no other way of stopping the water . Another plumber turned water off within one minute of arrival and proposed a much more sensible, cost-effective solution. I will never use this company again. In addition to creating an emergency where there was none, the plumber left the window open, tracked mud through the house, tried to charge double the quoted price, and told me to Google it when I asked if there was a boss or someone else I could talk to.
Donna R.our management company (for our condo association) brought them on without getting any estimates or checking reviews (once again, not an emergency, and no competitive bids) and the cost was literally in the thousands to fix a simple underground leak. If you have money to waste, stick it in the pipe crack, it will be cheaper.
Please read the reviews and learn from the mistakes others have made. The office stated the service was $150 with a possible $100 upcharge for 500 additional gallons of waste. Reasonable price for 1500 gallons of removal. The time was set for 8 - 12N so I had to cancel plans but getting the septic taken care of was more important. At 10AM no one had showed and there was no call to let me know progress so I called in to be told the tech would be there well before 12N. At 12:30PM when no one showed up I called again to be told the tech was delayed but would be there soon. With no one at the house at hour later, I expected no one to show but got communication at 1:45 that the tech would be another 45 minutes. That was the first update that I did not initiate. By 3:00PM the tank was open with the classic stand up of the shovel in the waste picture. The price went from $250 to $16K in 10 minutes. Understanding the upsell, we said no to replacing the drain field. We watched the work completed which included the dig to the tank, hose to suck out the debris with no 'manual break up of excessive solids' and debatable hydro jetting of the mainline. The time for the 'manual break up' was 3 minutes for the $275 charge. The hydro jetting of the mainline was 8 minutes for a $400 charge. Both were reduced for the agreed final bill. I called the office to discuss the bill that grew from a possible $250 to just under $1K but the manager was not available to approve the reduction of the bill for the work not completed. When I talked to another person at the office, she explained to me that 'the tank has been abused and years past due on cleaning' when the previous cleaning was 3 years earlier before the house sat vacant for 2 years. Rooterplus is well versed in the upsell and taking advantage of homeowners in a pinch. Beware and try other companies that do not have the reputation and tradition of robbing homeowners. ****Update****after a week back and forth with RooterPlus the final bill was reduced but I still overpaid at over double the advertised 1500 gallon price for unnecessary work. I am thankful for the reduction but would not do business with RooterPlus again.
