I had a main drain that plugged, which happens about every 5 years due to tree roots. I've lived in the house for 17 years and had it snaked 4 times - with the cost never over $120. I decided to call Rooter Town since they seemed fairly local and was quoted $95 for one hour. I know from experience that it has never taken more than 45 minutes. They told me that their ""technician"" would give me a firm estimate when he got there and I could either accept or reject. Fair enough. When he showed up I took him to the point of access, a clear shot through a toilet drain (which I had already disconnected). When he quoted me a cost of $520 I was stunned. Then he said he had to do a video of the line, which nobody had to do before, and he insisted that it had to be done. When he told me that it was at least a 3 hour job plus video plus special access I told him to leave.
I hope nobody else gets taken in by this outfit. I'm sure they prey on the unsuspecting so a word of caution - get several quotes and don't be afraid to tell them to leave when they pull a bait-and-switch pricing scam.

Not happy when I got home and my wife told me that they apparently couldn't clear the clog. The fact that they told my wife that they ran out 100' of cable(my main line is only 65' from house to street line) and could only get a small hole punched through, they said they have to have the supervisor come out tomorrow to run the camera down the line.
I would have no issue, but they charged us $495.00 for something that should have only been $200 if removing the toilet was to cost $105.00........they attempting to charge us another $250 to come out and put the flex cable camera down the line(they never put the downstairs toilet back on)to determine why their two(2) tech couldn't clear the blockage. I then was really upset when I got online to lookup reviews only to find other folks seem to have been ripped off or experienced horrible service from these folks.
Thank God my wife paid with a check so we can cancel it in the morning once I meet with the so called supervisor that costs $200 to walk into my house! FYI- the last time I had a camera snaked down the main line(5years ago), it was only $35.00.
I will be following up this review after noon tomorrow.
So I got a return call from Rooter Town at 7:56am this morning. The story that was told to my wife about not being able to use the toilet other than liquid was apparently another lie. They are telling me that we could have used our toilet and that there was no blockage.......WOW!!! Completely different story.
I have requested the supervisor or Ben Thomas to come out to my house in person to get a new check that includes the orginal $95 plus $45 for pulling the toilet and an additional $20 to cover the 20mins into a new hour since they were at my house for 1hr 20mins(time that was used to tell my wife an elaborate story!
DONE Plumbing who we should have waited for to begin with, is coming out to re-run the line and confirm I have a truly clear line.
Sad that the guy went from $495 down to wanting to charge me only $175 to make it right.
Honesty- this company has NONE
9:50am Saturday April 1st Update-
I have a better feeling towards Rooter Town after meeting Jesse yesterday at my house to give him the $175 check. He listened to my frustration on how his employee's left my wife and daughter hanging with a complete unsure feeling whether we could or couldn't use our toilet.....Jesse wouldn't accept the check and apologized for what we experienced, the company is a family owned and operated business and he stated that scare tactic or any other form of deception is not how they do business and the employee's actions and communication technique's will be addressed.
He did offer to complete the job for free and extended a free camera snake call in the future if I would be willing to give them a second chance.
Any company that provides bonus or incentives to its employee's by ""Upselling"", opens themselves up to the potential abuse of creating problems to increase the invoice by their field employee's if there is not a moral compass.
I will seriously take Jesse's offer into consideration the next time around.

Called out to get roots cleared from our line. While the guys were nice , we were told to get the line scoped to check for a possible obstruction after they claimed to have cleared the line. We had the line scoped only to determine that it was full of roots. Called back and they refused to correct the issue. I understand the limitation of the clean out but it is clear from the video taken they did not clear the line to the best of their ability. Instead they tried to sell us 700 in additional work. NOT HAPPENING. We will never call back.

I called Rooter Town in the morning and they had a plumber out to my home that afternoon.
It was expensive to have a pretty small job done but I don't have anything to compare it to. The plumber said it was a ""per job"" fee and couldn't break it down. They did work with me on the pricing though which took some of the sting out of the transaction. Shawn was the gentleman's name that did the work. He was fast and friendly and courteous.

Didn't complete the job. Just focused on trying to upsell. Never call these guys.

I've never written a review before but feel compelled to warn people about Rooter Town. Saturday morning, February 18th of this year (2017) I discovered my toilet was leaking water from both sides after draining the tub. I got my boyfriend up to assess the situation as he is a handyman. He stated that there was most likely a clog in the line and that he would need to call a drain cleaning company, unfortunately for us, he chose the wrong one. He made a call and set up an appointment and was told that it would be early afternoon before anyone could get out to our place. I had an appointment of my own and left my boyfriend to deal with the situation. When I came home I was surprised to see the plumbers truck still sitting in the driveway, I found my boyfriend and asked how it went, before he even spoke I could tell it was not good news. First, the guy did a scope of the drain and found a clog, he did clean it out and presented my boyfriend with a bill for $550.00 but that wasn't the only bad news. Now the guy tells us that the pipe is made of clay and is broken and needs replacing. This pipe happens to be directly behind the house under our concrete patio, to do the repair the concrete needs to come up and then the ground must be dug up. According to the man it could take two days. On hearing this of course I start to get hysterical (bad thing to do). I tell my boyfriend in earshot of the guy that there is no way we can be without water; I need it fixed. My boyfriend asks, ""how much?"" to our shock we hear, ""$6500"", this is on top of the $550 we just paid. My boyfriend tells him that there is no way it can be that much. Plumber replies ""have you ever done this before?"" to which my guys says, ""yes, I have and I know it can't be that much"".
He then tells the guy ""I'll do it for $5000 - cash"". Of course this is not a decision the plumber can makes so he tells my boyfriend, ""I'll have to call my uncle"", a few minutes later we find out that his uncle will take the $5000 (of course he will).
The guy calls his other guys; they want to start on it that night. Since the job will be long and loud my boyfriend suggests I leave for the night. Before I am even on my way out a truck rolls up with a trailer and a backhoe.
I come home around 5:00 Sunday night. Amazingly, the plumber's truck is back in the driveway. I ask my boyfriend what is going on. He tells me the guy can now scope the remaining pipe (the one that runs out to the street) to make sure there are no more issues. While the guy is doing this, I get caught up on the repair. They decided not to do the work Saturday night as it was getting late and the backhoe they brought was too big to get through our fence. They show up at 8:00a and in a few hours the repairs have been made (the guy told us before-hand it could take up to two days). While we are talking they guy comes in. I say, ""tell us good news"", he replies ""I wish I could"". Now he has discovered that the other pipe has leaks in it and needs to be replaced. This pipe runs through our garage and down the length of the driveway. He takes my boyfriend and has him look at the images on the scope. My boyfriend sees nothing but water. He asks what the cost will be this time, to our amazement and horror the cost will be $16,500 (again, this is on top of the $5500 we paid). The guys whips out a Wells Fargo application, if we do financing they will do it for $15,500. Of course I really lose it this time, I'm willing to take the application and sign it. I can't have the drain failing, it needs to be done, we have to do it. Thank god for my boyfriend. He takes the application and tells the guy that we need to talk about it and sends the guy on his way. My boyfriend tells me that he suspects we've been scammed.
To make a long story short, we had a drain guy come out to re-scope the pipe. This guy has nothing to gain if the pipe did need repairs as he only does drain cleaning. He comes out scopes it and tells us there are roots there, he cleans it not once but three times to make sure he gets everything, the whole thing comes to under $300. We tell the guy our story and he proceeds to tell us that our suspicions are most likely correct. He asked if the first guy ever gave us a video copy of the scope - he did not...first red flag. The fact that he had a Wells Fargo in hand for financing the job...second red flag. The guy knew I was stressed and was ready to do whatever I needed to do to get the issue resolved and took advantage of that. This new guy made a great observation, since the camera is inside the pipe how could the other guy tell if there were any leaks since it would be leaking on the outside. As far as we are concerned Rooter Town is a scam. Avoid them at all costs.
We learned an expensive but valuable lesson, NEVER make a decision under duress and ALWAYS get a second or third opinion. It will save you in the long run.

We had a problem with our pipes draining and I called rootertown. They offered to send a technician the same day. Dillon came to fix our pipe and he was Amazing!!! I would give him 6 stars if possible. Our pipe exploded this nasty horrible smelling old food and grease and he stayed after he finished snaking and jetting the pipe and cleaned up the whole area. He was extremely professional and explained exactly what was going wrong and fixed it! I would highly recommend this company and especially Dillon!

Never call this company if you want results in an emergency. They sent a very young man that looked sick and he told me that he had thrown up. He was smelling like beer but I am old and was in such need that I was going to surpassed that. He shouted at me, in my own house. He took advantage that my husband has Dementia and couldn't help me. HE WAS JUST A COWARD. Also, he was unable to write my name correctly. He had written it with a ""V"" and I told him it is written with a ""B"" as in boy, not ""V"" as in victory. He looked blankly and he didn't understand at all. Not only alcohol darkening his judgement but I think he was functional illiterate.
I am tired of situations where a blue collar worker thinks he is a corporate CEO. You need thinks done, it's an emergency. They send you people that is totally unprofessional, spoiled, and abusive only to ""capture"" a customer. Of course, with no consideration at all for the people. We are 2 seniors! We need to be respect as such.
Morning edition: Mr Benjamin Thomas, Service Manager of this Company, has called me today. He was worried about the situation described above. He apologized for his employee misbehavior and he offered us discounts. I appreciate this. Really gentlemen recognized his errors (or in this case his employee). Thanks. I upgrade this review to 3 stars for this.

If I had checked these reviews before I called , I would not ask them.
My sewer line was done adequately. They left the area cleaned and nicely.
However, no one returned to complete the final power wash of my outside pipe
which they installed. There was no proof of city inspection as well. They said
those would be done after or while working. I could give 5 stars if they had done.
TRUST COMES FIRST, NOT MONEY then PROFIT COMES.

High pressure upselling of camera inspections for $245 after they cleaned the main line for $95. Kept saying no and they kept dropping the price down to $150. I know I have a tree root problem, I've cleaned the line every year, I'm not ready to replace it right now though.
