Rooter Hero - San Jose

Main water line from city hook-up to our house was leaking. (San Jose City contacted us about the leak). Called Rooter Hero. We had just recently (12/24), had Rooter Hero repair our sewer line to city street. Sewage was backing up from our toilets and it had to be taken care of immediately. That project was +$ 22000. Then in 01/25, San Jose informed us that we had a major underground leak in our main water line hookup from house to street. Again, we called Rooter Hero. Another $20,000 project. But things started going south with the 2nd project. While installing the main water line, RH damaged yard lighting and irrigation system. When San Jose City came to inspect ""finished"" project, the Inspector informed RH and me that the newly installed copper pipes that connected the line to the house had to be properly grounded to the outdoor electrical panel. Now this is when things started to sound a bit suspicious. Rooter Hero told me that I would have to pay an ""extra"" $2600 if I wanted the project to pass inspection. My reply was that it is the contractor's responsibility to ensure their work is up to current city and state code and that there should not be an ""extra"" charge.
So RH comes back and says they will do it for $2100. Again, I tell them no. I informed their boss Tony S. that I will not pay more and that I will get quotes from reputable contractors on the cost to ground copper pipes to outdoor electrical panels AND to not do anything until I get back from a planned trip.
While on vacation, Rooter Hero goes ahead and withdraws our final payment of $1961.69.
When I get back from our vacation, I find a licensed contractor who does the copper pipe grounding for $1529.50. That's $1000 cheaper than Tony S. of RH's quote. I also spoke to a couple of contractors who conveyed to me RH's project quotes are very, very high.

I tried calling Tony S of RH but no call backs. Finally, after I threatened BBB complaints and legal action, their main office refunds the $1826 that I had to fork out to repair yard and copper pipes but then informs me that they will give me back the $1951.69 only if I sign an agreement in which I retract my complaints, not seek legal action, and not write bad reviews on YELP. Mind you, they should not have taken my $1951.69 in the first place because they had not completed the job. Yet they will give me back my own money if I shut up about their tactics.

And to add insult to injury, recently turned on irrigation system and found that the newly installed copper pipes still had dirt inside and this clogged all of our water valves attached to our irrigation system.

Folks, before you hire Rooter Hero, get estimates from other licensed contractors. They took advantage of my wife and me, who are retired and on a fixed income. And yet they want us to play quiet as a mouse in order to get our money back. Not playing that game

I requested service due to a blockage in the main line. Elijah showed up within the hour. He quickly diagnosed the issue and went right to work ! He was quick and efficient. He had the blockage cleared quickly then ran a video scope down the pipe to check for any other problems. I was glad to hear there were no tree roots in the main. It was a pleasure dealing with Elijah. I would highly recommend this company !!

They'll say and do anything to sell a product. Rooter Hero installed an HVAC system that didn't work. It's was a faulty unit from the manufacturer. We spent over 20k for this inferior system. It took them two (2) months to finally replace the unit. I've left them 4 messages inquiring when I should expect them to show up. They never responded. They NEVER updated or communicated what was going on. STAY AWAY from this sloppy company!! They don't respect their customers!!! John-Alex Gonzales & Ron Garcia are the worst. STAY AWAY!!!

They wanted $1000 to unclog a sink. Price gouging an elderly person! Another plumber came and unclogged within 15 minutes. Plenty of plumbers in this area have hundreds and even over 1000 5 star reviews. Not these guys. Beware.

I received great service from technician Francisco Mercado for AC repair. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor and fixed it promptly. He was nice to speak to and charged me fairly.

Don't go here. A simple rooter job turns into a minimum 5k job max 21k. I called my union plumber buddy, done in 10 minutes the right way. They don't even put attachments on the snake. Pass.

Called Rooter Hero today needing to have my mom's wash tub connected to her washer unclogged. She is 82 years old and has stage 4 cancer and has been having to take bucket loads of water out every time she does laundry. Jose Romero and Armando with Rooter Hero, showed up within the hour and went above and beyond to get her sink cleared out. We are beyond grateful!! Rooter hero and especially Cisco delivered impeccable service for the replacement of my HVAC system. I had used them before for smaller jobs and when my AC went out they were amazing. Cisco provided an extensive inspection and provided options to either patch or replace the system. This is at a condo that I rent in San Jose. My tenants were very happy with the professionalism and friendliness of Cisco. I went with replacement and they helped select the most appropriate unit. I got a fair quote and moved ahead. Since I have to deal with homeowners association, John Alex provided all the documentation that was needed to get approval for that. Next Alex and Victor removed and installed the new system in one day. Cisco helped get a scheduled instal within days. Everyone was so professional, fair, and friendly. For what I expected to be a nightmare, it turned out to be one of the best experiences. thanks to Cisco for coordinating everything so efficiently.
