I called Rooter Hero to repair a clogged drain. The technician was very polite and competent but the bill increased from the original quote of $400 to a final charge of $1,325. While some additional issues were encountered, I am now not sure if they were valid and, if they were, the charges far exceeded the work that was done. After looking at other Yelp reviews, I now realize that I shouldn't have trusted them. I will not be be using the company again.

Zero stars. Sent out a guy with the end of the snake broken. So the cutting attachment couldn't be used he ran the snake a couple times and couldn't unclog. He kept trying to upsell the hydro service, 5-6 times the cost. (Had to call another company to get the job done. With proper tools , roots were cut and drain unclogged)
The issue was less than 20 feet of the clean out. I asked for the online advertised price and it wasn't honored. I then asked for the senior discount advertised online since I was still being charged for the job. He ""forgot "". Still no credit. Extremely disappointing. I know who NOT to call next time.

The story

Friday Feb 21st, I contacted Rooter Hero for a main sewer back up. A guy shows up and he takes a look and suggest they run a camera since its cheaper option. He calls his boss who shows up an hour later to run the camera, he then tells me there is a bad break in my sewer line under my kitchen floor. He then gives me estimates from $8k to $16k. I tell them I will get back to them soon I want to make a few calls. I try calling several companies for second opinion, problem is noon on Friday I am either told Saturday or Monday before they can get anyone out to even look at it and if it does need to be fixed I would be looking at next week before its fixed. So no toilet no shower for3 to 4 days potenially. I go ahead and accept the $8k price which includes breaking out kithen tile, jackhammering up my slab foundation, digging down and replacing up to 5 feet of pipe. The come out Saturday morning first thing, I sign the contract.

Several hours later they get to the pipe and cut it out, I see no damage. The continue their work not saying anything. They take the pipe and lay it in the front yard while they go get parts. I go inspect the pipe further and see a clog in the pipe, kinda looks like a bag and a towel maybe. They come back and replace the pipe. I dont say anything to the workers because they were not the ones who told me the pipe was broken. I take the pipe and secure it for evidence. Sunday I contact their customer care, I dont hear anything back, Tuesday they come out with the inspector who passes the replacement and they backfill. I wasnt home during this point but they ran the camera again and try to point out a few more issues in the line. I inform them I already contacted customer care and awaiting to hear back because the first break there was no break. They leave, I forward my email from Sunday back to Customer care. Customer care finally responds with pictures of the pipe. Clearly showing no breaks.

I email back, Stating there are no breaks, no response, the next morning Wednesday the come and patch the cement. After he is completed I email back and let them know I am now contacting the CSLB and Attorney General and filling complaints. At this point another guy responds trying to tell me that the pipe was corroded due to age and does justify being labled as badly broken. I will include pictures, of the pipe and the response from them claiming it is badly broken. But at this point I am done dealing with them since they are doubling down on their scam. Fortunately I have the pipe so I can have the state see for themselves. I havent cleaned out what is inside so they can see how exactly it was.

I called Rooter Hero today at 2pm to unclog a toilet drain using their $59 special. My call was answered promptly and they offered same day service which worked great. I was told a dispatcher would be calling me ""shortly"" to confirm the time. Good so far. However, By 4:30pm, I had not heard from the dispatcher, so I called the customer service line and eventually reached someone after being disconnected while on hold twice. I was told the dispatcher would be calling me immediately to schedule the apt. At 530pm, I received a random text and was told they no longer had availability and the next time they could come would be 3 days later. When I asked why a 24 hour plumber had no availability for 3 days, they didn't respond. Terrible!

just another ripoff story about rooter hero. these people are more trained in sharking than plumbing skills. clogged drain with a crack in a 12 in piece of plastic pipe. the clog was $77 but to replace the pipe was $ 1200. it only took 45 minutes of work. nothing difficult here. seriously, $1200 for 45 minutes labor. all was super easy access.
like a good neighbor say's. read the reviews on yelp. i feel really VIOLATED

Disbelief and Disgusted by this 'company'. They hydro cleaned my pipe then came out and videoed, but said they could not show the footage. They sent 3 estimates $6900, $19,000 and $36,000. They gave me 4 days to chose or I would loose out on the cost of the hydro going towards the work. I had 4 other companies out in the following 24 hours. I saw two videos of my pipes. They are clean. No standing water. Worst was a small crack where the main line meets the city line and I knew about this prior to the hydro as we had cabled those same roots this past summer. The other companies gave quotes to fix the crack from $1800-$3000 with the same warranty length as Rooter Hero.
Rooter hero didn't even quote to fix or mention the crack. They said I had standing water and my pipes under the house were at a down grade. This was a blatant lie as they never even uncovered the clean out behind the house as the other companies did. The could have only videoed from the front of the house to the street. They recommend putting in a two way clean out, re-piping, and epoxy. this would have made my pipes smaller and caused more issues along with the ridiculous cost they wanted me to take a loan out with them for. I am so disgusted by this company.

I've had the best experience with Rooter Hero!!! Every single person I've interacted with during this process has been absolutely top of the line. Kind, courteous supportive and helpful. I had the most amazing crew, Jacob, Michael, Chris, Jessie, Jose and Dallas. Each and every single person holds a special place in this project. I can't express how truly thankful I am.
The team and workmanship are exemplary. I would recommend this company and crew to anyone needing services.

We called Friday morning for a backed up kitchen sink and were told we'd get a call between 1:00-3-00 when the service technician would come out. 3:30 comes along and no call. Several back and forth calls saying he's still coming. We call again at 5:00 and are told he'll be over as soon as he's done with the current call. An hour later we receive a TEXT that their service ""heroes"" are unavailable and the next available windows is not until Monday. Read several other reviews with similar situation. Don't waste your time with the place!!

Called them for a clogged drain. A tech came out and said he couldn't clear it and recommended a hydro clean out at $1200! I told them that wasn't reasonable and I would have another company come instead. Met the other plumber first thing in the morning and they were able to snake it just fine and got the drain unblocked and then when using the cam, they discovered Rooter Hero had had their snake head break off and it was left in the pipe!!! Calling them repeatedly to fix their problem and instead of taking care of it, they keep just saying someone will call back and then nobody does. They're a scam and inept at their job. DO NOT USE ROOTER HERO.
