Rachel C.I have had Rolf Griffin come out for the same problems/ symptoms 4 times in the last year. Had Jordan Jodway every time.
Initially, the main sewer line got replaced due to roots, May 2022. Paid $4,300., before financing fees. Then the problem returned before the 6 months warranty was up, November 2022. So I had them out again to auger the line; which only barely worked afterwards.
Once again I had them come out about 2 months ago, April 2023 and they told me that I needed to wait because the city was working, so there was standing water.
The city is still working and about to start drilling under our street, but cannot continue to allow sewage to back up into our sinks. So, I had them come out once more today, July 2023. They told me that they ""cannot clear the line; call Roto Rooter to jet it out. THAT THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I IGNORE THE PROBLEM.""
They charged me $449 with my card; WHICH I DID NOT GET BACK. I also wasn't given any paperwork for their visit today, so other than email and text I have no record of them coming out.
To make matters worse, I had previously signed up for their membership plan which I was told would make it so that I would not have to pay the $99 inspection fee and their work/services would be guaranteed. As well as, 15% off service. Well, the plumber who came out said, ""..has nothing in his notes about my membership. So I still have to pay anyways, and they cannot guarantee any work.""
It took several calls to get through to their answering service. I told her about Jordan(the plumber) keeping my card and that I never heard back from the company. I called Jordan via his number from Roto Rooter (turns out he used to work for them), but he says he doesn't have my card.
So then I had to go call and cancel my card, which then meant I was unable to pay Roto Rooter $644. for coming out to clear line that Jordan couldn't.
I am extremely pissed off with the service, or lack there of from Rolf Griffin. This all should've been resolved long ago. Instead, I feel like I have been taken advantage of.
I will not under any circumstances use Rolf Griffin ever again.
Think twice before using this company, especially if they send Jordan.

I had a service plan with Rolf. They came said everything was good. 3 hours later my heat didn't work. They came out and said my propane was to low. So I had a emergency call out. Unit still didn't work after I had to pay extra to have the propane delivered in the night. They said they would come back the next day with a gas valve. He came back after i had to call several times. He came back to troubleshoot said yep it's the gas valve and then left to go get it he didn't bring it. My house got to 40 degrees with young children and me having stage 4 cancer. My pipes also froze do to this and flooded my house when they thawed out finally on Christmas day. Was great to have a flood in my kitchen. Also asked to speak with a Supervisor still haven't heard from one. Wouldn't recommend and will be canceling my plan with them.
What an ongoing fiasco. putting in new flooring so we needed to have bathroom fixtures removed. service experts took out the vanity and toilet. after the tech left to get something, the pipes from vanity sink backed up and leaked thru ceiling into basement. Cleaned it up and put buckets to catch drips, comment when returned was ""well, it was fine when I left."". When returned few days later to get new main water valve, no apparent issues until we tried to run washing mchine, which wouldn't run as guy left that valve (not sure which as there are 3 nearby) closed, so we couldn't wash clothes until they came back another day. after floors put in and a scheduled and verified appointment to replace toilet and vanity, tech called half hour after scheduled time that he wouldn't be there for another hour and a half. when he arrived he refused to install vanity and sink as it wasn't on his order form and would take too long since it was know after 3:00 and needed another tech. new appt 2 days later on Thursday and tech is sick (that happens and we understand but it should've been completed already) so now we have to wait again until Tuesday. Called to speak to manager yesterday morning and haven't received a response.

About a month ago I submitted a great review for Rolf Griffin. I enrolled in their Advantage Program and had my entire HVAC replaced to include a water softener and AC unit. I thought everything was great. UNTIL TODAY! I have been in a refinance with Rocket Mortgage for 3 months and I just found out that Rolf Griffin placed a $31,000 lien on my property for the next 10 years WITHOUT me every knowing about it NOR was it EVER mention. Now my refinance has been withdrawn. BEWARE of FALSE advertisement from Rolf Griffin. I dispise them for LYING to me just to get my money. If I would have known this from the beginning I would have NEVER DONE IT!
I called Rolf Griffin on Friday around 2pm and there were some phone issues but moved past that. Finally was able to schedule an appointment which they said they would be out by the end of the day. They did come out, all was well and I was thankful. When they showed up I was not here but I had someone at my house and he called me to tell me that it needed a control board that would cost around $600-$700 and that parts have been delayed sometimes anywhere from 5-6 weeks and considering my unit was according to them ""around 20 years old"" I'm a single mother and I absolutely cannot go that long without heat so they asked if I would be interested in a furnace replacement and they could send out a salesperson that night and considering my desperate situation I agreed so the salesman came out that evening actually at around 7pm when I would be home. The salesman proceeded to give me a few different furnace options but really pushed some ""advantage plan scam"" $220/month for 10 years but they would take care of all maintenance, parts, etc for that time. Ultimately would be a cost of $26,000 and of course they tried to sell me a new water heater as well. They never did give me a price for just a unit and install without the advantage scam pricing. I didn't make a decision that night, next day I called someone else and they came out and actually found it to be the gas valve on my 7 year old furnace not 20 years old and I didn't need a ""$600-$700 control board or a new furnace after all! I feel like they tried to take advantage of the desperate situation as well as me as a woman and a parent and the outrageous markup of pricing explains why y'all living in huge houses driving new cars and I'm not sure how you sleep at night. The technicians are either trained to be scammers and get a commission or they are not very thorough. This company should be ashamed of themselves!
Rolf refuses to itemize their billings, which can't be good. We are not using them anymore because of this.
I called this company and told them what was wrong as I set the appointment. I wanted my furnace blower motor replaced. I was told $99 for trip charge and then they would discuss the cost to repair from there. I agreed to that. Two people showed up in two different vehicles. It quickly became clear one was a repair man, and one had only the job of selling new units at exponential costs. I told the repair guy what was wrong. He proceeded to check the furnace, and determine what I said was right. He then stated that also my fan was dirty, and my furnace was old and other parts may fail soon. He said the blower motor needed replaced. I knew that already. Then he said may fan was dirty and it needed replaced. Then he said my exhaust motor would likely go out soon and it needed replaced. He then quoted me the parts only price for the blower motor I knew needed replaced at $900. And the fan at $600. Labor not included. I googled the cost for the motor and it was clearly under $300. I asked why the part price was so high, and was told ""A list customers get one price, and I was not A list so that's my price."" Then the other guy did his thing, and tried to sell me an all new unit for literally what would have been half the value of my entire house, paid over 10 years. ""But service was included"" was the key. And ""a free humidifier"" was a topper. I only wanted heat for my children that night. At a fair price. When I couldn't afford what they were selling, they charged me $177, trip fee and diagnostic fee. Even though I told them what was wrong from the start. In the end, I got the blower motor for $233 after tax, and cleaned the fan to like new quickly and for free. I bought wire strippers, and a quarter inch but driver to do the fairly simple task they wanted $2000 to do. And it cost me $240 total to do it. Watching only one you tube video to learn how. This company doesn't care if your on a budget and your kids are cold. They only care about selling you a new furnace and AC for $25,000. I would not recommend this company if you just need a simple fix.
First of all. Salesman follows the repairmen around. Both showed up. They fixed the blower that I myself kmew was needing replaced. Then talked me into a tuneup. Yes my unit is extremely old. However it is still capable of getting us through the pandemic so that our finances would be in better shape. During the tune up the repairman pulls the control unit out. Then proceeds to show me what he claims is a burnt spot on the pc board. I have soldered and repaired many in my life time. There was nothing but excessive epoxy in the spot he said was burnt. Epoxy is used as a coating on boards. My wife taught me 25 yrs ago how to spot bad spots on a pc board. Many of her boards are floating in our satellites and international space station. A month later problems again. Rolf again. Same repairman. Told me he would have another diagnostic fee. Told him I paid a membership fee for two. He said that was the trip charge only. Helpful company during a pandemic eh? He and I got into disagreement about him filling out the paperwork on my previous bill. In the comments, which I didnt notice until I pulled out the papers from that earlier visit, he had entered the commment about the burnt board. After he and I got into the disagreement about the board I told him to leave. Yes at this point I am not in a good mood. I already had someone coming as a second opinion. New company comes and in ten minutes finds a 4 inch hose. Replaced it for a trip charge only. No diagnostic fee. Aged hose should have been noticed in Rolf's first visit repair and TUNE UP. They did not. To be fair I didnt give him a chance to find the hose on the second visit as I made him leave. Rolf charges you a trip fee and diagostic fee. Most companies do. However Rolf has a membership progam which gives you 2 FREE trip charges. So they counted the first visit as one free one and the second as the other. That membership fee is $168. Which was paid on the first visit with the other $735 dollar blower replacement. So those trip charges are actually not free are they? And gone now. Rolf will get on here an point out the other so called advantages of being a member, but in most peoples mind the $168 paid those two FREE trip charges.
First trip salesman was there as I mentioned. He gave me a verbal guess-tement of $7000 to $8000 to replace both air and heat. I DO need both replaced. However I told them my wife no longer works due to health issues. So we will need time to get our finances in shape. No compassion, they lie to try to sell a $600 control unit. (pc board is in control unit.) I caught that though so the old pc board is still working fine.
New company for same furnace and air conditioner is $5450. Both units Trane. Rolf is the highest priced heating and air in town. I I found many complaints from everyone I talked to. I started asking around as I work for myself and see many people all day long. Not one person recommended them other than my neighbor. He originally recommended them as they replaced both his systems. He is seeing the light now! Just hang in there as Rolf usually comments on these complaints here on yelp. It will be excuses. And they will blame my attitude which was great until I was showed a fine pc board they were claiming was burnt.
Stay away from these people!!!!
Be careful....I had contact with three different employees before work was started . They never disclosed all the charges related to my repair . My bill was $100 dollars more than I ok'd. And when I called to complain the manger hung up on me.
