About 3 years ago, we had a maintenance contract with Roland Downs. We started noticing a noise when the furnace blower came on, and mentioned it when the technician came for our maintenance appointment. He told us our 9 year old furnace was a piece of junk and we really needed a new one. He made a call and within minutes, a sales rep showed up. She looked familiar, and I later remembered that 6 months earlier, during a maintenance appointment, she had shown up and was in the yard chatting with the technician - who happened to be same same guy as this time.

She was really slick and we were very trusting because of the Roland Downs name and reputation. we signed a contract that was too good to be true. After they left I carefully read the contract and realized it was for a furnace that we would not have owned - we would have been renting a furnace. The next morning I called and cancelled. I also cancelled the maintenance agreement. It was then I realized Downs is not the family owned local business it once was, but is now part of a huge company based in Texas.
A manager called and wanted to make amends by sending a technician to look at our furnace. He determined it needed a part, which had to be ordered, could take a long time, so we better decide right away. At that point I called Crissifulli Brothers. Their technician said it needed the same part, at a much lower price, and it was in stock and they fixed the furnace that same day.

Three years later the furnace is still working!

We were told by the sales rep that the furnace we purchased in Feb. 2024 was eligible for 2 rebates--one of the selling points. We never got the rebates, despite repeated attempts to contact Roland J. Down about them. They ignored our phone calls, emails, and a text message to the sales rep.

What a great company. We called had a leak coming from our toilet and they were able to send a tech named Avi. He was able to fix the problem the same day. Great company and a very nice tech would highly recommend Avi and this company.

Told I needed a switch for my AC. Did replace the switch on a later visit. week or so later we turned on the AC only to find it was not cooling. Disappointed with Roland J Down we called another company. They discovered that we had no refrigerant. lost when the switch was replaced. Will never use Roland J Down again.

Extremely disappointed in the lack of service by Roland J Down. I scheduled an appointment at 5pm yesterday to take place between 8pm and 11:59pm, willing to pay the after hours fee, due to no heat. At 11pm, I called to make sure we were still scheduled. The appointment was confirmed. They advised they would call before coming and they were working at another home at the moment. 2:30am I finally dozed off, phone in hand in case they called. 4am nothing, wide awake, kids wearing their winter coats to sleep at this point. 7am still nothing. I called grasshopper, and they are now scheduled between 9am-1pm. I will never use or recommend Roland J Down to anyone. Had they said they were delayed hours earlier, I could have properly prepared by hitting a store for some heaters. I called them at 7:30am to cancel the appointment that was scheduled 14 hours earlier. Ridiculous

Absolutely terrible!! They turned my furnace off, which was at least working enough to not have burst pipes. did not fix anything. Then when my pipes burst an hour or two later, they basically admitted that's what they did wrong but shrugged their shoulder and left. My kitchen is destroyed and electric appliances are broken in addition to replacing my ceiling.

Scumbags. They showed up to our place with a box truck READY to replace our 1 year old water heater that's still under warranty.

Could not get them to show up.  We have used this company for plumbing and HVAC service in our home for years - going back to the days when they were known as Krug.  Never had a problem until now.  I called for plumbing service on a water leak and they accepted the request.  I waited a day and a half for someone to call/ show up to no avail.  I called to inquire when they would be coming, and if they would be coming that day,  and customer service was completely non-committal, but said as soon as someone was available they would be dispatched.  A couple hours later I got the call that they would not be coming that day and the best they could do would be to schedule my service for a full week later. The explanation was they had overbooked and other customers who are part of their maintenance program take precedence.  The fact that I had waited this long was of no concern. I called another local plumbing company, had someone there within the hour and problem fixed within 2.  RJD has lost a lifelong customer for good.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The techs that came were very kind and professional. Their sales and parts department are horrible. Not to mention, the advantage plan they push is incredibly deceptive pricing. Be very careful with them. To get the ac working while I wait for new equipment, I wanted to fix the equipment. I was told by their sales person it would be at least 10 days to obtain the parts. Found out they had them in stock at a store in Clifton Park! I cannot even post the issues I had with sales. Please save yourself time and aggravation....use crisafulli brothers!

Absolutely worse service. This place is a scam. Look at all the past reviews I wish I had done my homework beforehand. They came to my house and told me I needed a new compressor. They came to install it, 8 hours later it still did not work and the technician was upset because I would not pay him! Really? So it's been a month and the manager still has not contacted me. Yesterday day I got a bill in the mail for over $1500 to be paid although my unit does not work. I will be contacting a lawyer at this point. Again, look at the other reviews... I will keep you posted!!
