Motivations business proprietors provide for starting a business differ, yet in Rodriguez's situation, it was the support of a friend. This friend, who was also business partner, believed in Rodriguez so strongly that he actually put up financial backing to assist him start the business.

""I was working for a plumbing contractor and I was passionate about my job,"" Rodriguez recalled. A fellow entrepreneur, my friend Seneca Marquez, suggested I should go into business for myself. It hadn’t crossed my mind until that moment.""

One day, Marquez asked Rodriguez to take a day off from work. ""He took me to his bank,"" Rodriguez explained. He realized I didn’t have any collateral, therefore he offered ten thousand dollars in my name. He believed in me enough to do that.""

Rodriguez, who was 28 at the time, established Rodriguez Mechanical Contractors Inc., with help from his partner, Maxine. During that period, the couple had four little ones. Currently they are blessed with six children and seven grandkids, plus two more arriving soon.
