Charlie S.Rock is very responsive to service requests. Today Casey and Jared replaced our 21 year old furnace. Their work was excellent, their post installation instructions were very clear and easy to understand and they cleaned the jobsite well. I have used Rock for all my plumbing and HVAC service for over 10 years now. These guys deserve 5 stars!
Excellence through every step of the process! From setting the appointment, to promptness of the technicians to their service. Each one of them created a fantastic experience in an otherwise frustrating situation (A/C going out suddenly on one of the hottest days of the summer). They are top notch and will work with you.
I've been working with ROCK for 13 years. One of my ACs went out suddenly so I called ROCK as it was 95 degrees out. They were able to send Cory out as a last call, end of day thing. Cory was able to troubleshoot the problem, found the issue and fixed it. As always a great job done by Chris and his team!
I called Rock to fix a leaking outdoor pipe the day before leaving on an extended vacation. Mario and Quentin quickly repaired the problem and also provided me with a cost effective solution to prevent future repeat issues. However, in the midst of this repair and because my sprinkler system was not properly winterized last year, a second more serious problem occurred. Mario and Quentin reassured me they could remedy the new issue (on the inside of the house). They were at my home until very late in the evening to make certain all was repaired and operating correctly so I could leave on my planned vacation. I highly recommend this company and THANK YOU Mario and Quentin!!'
Charlotte B.We were very pleased with the service and attention that Declan provided. We feel confident that our system has been thoroughly checked out and analyzed.
We were part of the monthly subscription program that took care of seasonal maintenance, and also came with a guaranteed discount for any work that was required. During this year's visit, the tech told us that it was all doom and gloom, our units were on their last leg, and they would be surprised if it lasted much longer. A salesmen then came and tried to sell us almost $27k worth of replacements. We've since paid other companies to come check it. They said our units were fine. One guy we consulted said ""it's a racket, they will always try to sell replacements that you don't need"". Needless to say, cancelled our subscription. Will not use this company again. EVER.
We used these monkeys to get 2 faucets replaced in our master bath. Not only was their pricing well above average, $450.00 each, we had to have them come back out twice. The first time because one faucet was not plumb (leaning), and the second time because my drain wasn't draining as it did before. The tech. took it apart and immediately took a photo of the lateral pipe between the 2 sinks, showing a tiny bit of gooey substance, and said that was the reason it wasn't draining properly. Rather than just remove it, he stood there and watched as I ran a screw driver through the pipe fora few seconds and it was fine after he reassembled it. However, after he left, the drain plug was no longer functioning. I fixed it myself.
The HVAC side was phenomenal. We had an on demand hot water system installed because our 22 year- old boiler had given up the ghost. They promised a 2 day installation, and even stayed until 8:00 P.M. the first night so they would be sure to finish the next day. Their workmanship was top notch, and our gas bill was reduced by one third. I wholeheartedly recommend that side of the company. If I could leave 5 stars for them, I most definitely would.
Our boiler stopped working so we called Rock Plumbing and Heating. The technician spent 2 hours troubleshooting our unit and said the heat exchanger was bad. He quoted us $7500 to replace it. Our unit is 12 years old and no longer under warranty. The unit new was only $5000 plus installation.
We asked how much it costs for a new boiler. He said $25,000. He later came down to $18,000 and ultimately $17,000. I researched the cost of the new boiler that was recommended and it was $2800. Therefore, the cost of installation was $14,200. We felt pressured to go with the absurd quote as the temperature in our area was in the single digits. I believe the company thought they could use the low temps as leverage against us.
We ended up calling another plumbing who was recommended. He came out on a Sunday and took 30 minutes to find a faulty pilot igniter. He sanded the old igniter removing some built up grime then reinstalled it. Within an hour our boiler was working perfectly. He only charged us $60. I should mention the Rock Technician charged us $250 for the wrong diagnostics.
Kurt S.Mark was professional and knowledgeable. Rock plumbing was more expensive than other companies, but they were able to help us in a timely manner.
Winter maintenance tech tried to scam me with a false CO reading. Told me the cause as a cracked or failing heat exchanger. Had a CO meter attached to a vent showing 3-5 ppm and said it's only going to get worse. (BTW, home CO detectors don't alarm until the ppm reaches 70. FYI.) He advised not to run the heater because this level was dangerous. [It's winter, don't run your heater or you will die = fear tactic] Then the sales pitch: they could order a new heat exchanger, but they are at least 2 months back ordered. He would be happy to send out a guy who would show me, free of charge, the other ""in-stock"" options (new furnaces). I have my own CO meter and tested the same location myself after he left. 0 ppm. If Rock has ANY integrity they would fire this guy, but I suspect he's one of their ""veterans"" who was just doing what he'd been taugh: up-sell on every visit. And this guy went for the max: lie big, instill fear and sell a new furnace! Other techs from previous visits always had improvement options for me to consider, but none of them lied (well, one of them told it would cost me $165 for Rock to disconnect a booster fan I no longer wanted. Too dangerous for me to mess with wires in the furnace cavity. I unplugged it myself for $0.00). I only hope this guy did not damage my heat exchanger in order to ""make it go bad soon"" because he did some things to my furnace cabinet none of the previous maintenance techs did: 1) he drilled a 3/8"" hole in the back of the cabinet for ""camera access"" to the heat exchanger area. 2) he removed all the screws from the top back of the same cabinet to access the top area of the heat exchanger. Were these steps really necessary? If you decide to hire Rock H&A despite the warning of the negative reviews, stay with the tech and video his entire visit. It may be the only way to keep him honest. This company has serious integrity issues. And if they keep pushing sales with lies and fear mongering, they will have serious legal issues.
