A clarification first. I live in Bloomington, IN, not California as my address shows. This review is about the Riverway Plumbing in Bloomington.

Very dishonest person. Our general contractor hired him to do the plumbing for our bathroom renovation. First day on the job, he flooded our kitchen below because he forgot to seal a pipe. He was profusely apologetic to us saying it was his mistake. I was ready to accept it as an unfortunate accident until I heard from the general contractor that the plumber claimed, behind our back, that it was our fault because we turned on the water too soon. That was a big fat lie - he told us he was finished and we could turn the water back on. I find the dishonesty unacceptable.

I would stay away from this plumber.

Where do I start? Tech (Neil) showed up 45 minutes late, without calling. Was in my home no more than 10 minutes. Explained to me how water pressure works which being 63 yrs old, I kind of know this already. The only actual work performed was him removing his boots before entering my home. (which I appreciated). As mentioned, 10 minutes later and being charged $95 for what I assume was a service call, seems a bit pricey.
Oh well, lesson learned. An education from Harvard costs a lot more than $95

I hired Riverway to fix a plumbing issue I had in a house that I had an accepted offer on. They came and told me the problem and said they had to order some parts. That is the last I heard from them. I wasn't sure the job was even complete. Never received a bill from them until I got a text message threatening to take me to court and put a lien on the house that is not even owned by me. In a day where customer service is key .... I give them a D-

No mask, I asked them out for a sewage smell... and I wanted all my bathroom drains cleared but he looked right at my shower and said it was not going to workout with his tools or snack thing.. it's not a crazy shower just a built in stand alone.. he changed the ring on the toilet and was in and out. I appreciate that but still wanted more info on the smell or something about the drains being cleaned out.. since I just moved in here I wanted to have a clear start.

Hi Riverway Plumbing and Mechanical is great I called them to come to my house to give me an estimate on some plumbing problems I was having and Neil figured out my problem in like 5 minutes and and explain to me the problem I thought that I was having isn't. It was a simple procedure that I can do myself and wouldn't need their services. My point is he was honest about it and do his business and I am giving them this review to tell people I would use them in the future and so should others. you will have a good Professional Service working on whatever you need is.. and thank you Neil for your honesty

The problem began when the city installed new smart meters. My water bill went up $100 and I was told that I had a leak, that was not detected by the old meter. The leak was in the line from the house to the meter, so I called Riverway to find it and fix it. The guy who came out, Chad, told me that I would need to have the line located and he proceeded to call a locator and told me they would be out the following Thursday, he even wrote the day on my receipt. They showed up on Wednesday when I was at the doctor. They called me and told me they were in my driveway, they said they were told to be there on Wednesday. This was the 1st error. Then I was told that the office person would find a new locator for me, after not hearing from her, I called back 3 days later and spoke with Neal. He told me that the locators come from Indianapolis only when there is more than 1 call. Really? So I had to wait for someone else to call? He said he could rush it but it would cost me $300 more. I told him that didn't make any sense to me. He then said he would come out the next day. Unfortunately, I had a family emergency, so I called to reschedule. I was told that if I waited until next week, it would cost me $95, which I already paid, but if he came out today it would be free. I had only had 2 hours sleep and my daughter was ill, but that didn't matter. Neal was going on vacation next week, so a service man would have to come out. Neal is the owner. Also, he was going to locate the water line. Didn't he tell me that would cost me $300 and another company had to do it? Liar. Anyway, don't call them. They only care about the money, not the customer. the only reason I gave this 1 star is for the girl in the office. She was pleasant and tried her best to help.

Rude driver stopped on a busy road, pulled in front of me (a pedestrian) without giving me a chance to cross. Then he put his truck into reverse as I tried to cross behind him. He told me that I was jaywalking. We don't need rude service providers on busy residential streets in Bloomington. Don't hire if you value safety and courtesy.

My hot water heater wasn't working so I called numerous plumbers. Riverway was the only one who could make it out in a timely manner. They came out in the morning, got a part ordered (the water heater was under warranty), and showed me how to install the part (very simple) so that I wouldn't be charged for another service call. Sometimes it's the simplest of jobs where you learn that a company is honest and won't overcharge you. You couple that with the speed of service and it doesn't get any better!

In the spring of 2016 I noticed a leak in my frost free yard hydrant. I called Neil Patzner of Riverway Plumbing to repair it. He repaired it and provided me with an invoice for a total of $309.10. This past Christmas (December 2016) I was on vacation in Washington State when the faucet developed another leak and flooded the whole area around it before my wife noticed it and called me. I had her call Neil Patzner and tell him that the faucet he had repaired last year was leaking again we needed someone to come repair it. He told her that he had told me last spring that the repair he had made might not hold because it needed further work,This was totally untrue. If he had told me at the time that the repair required more work I would have had him do the work. I wanted my faucet FIXED, not taped up with a band aid repair. I would never have agreed to any fix that was considered temporary. At first, he refused to come out to work on the faucet and demanded to be paid up front. I think he was afraid that I would not pay him, as I had already paid him for one faulty repair on this faucet and really he should have been fixing his original shoddy work without expecting payment. But I was in no position to do anything but try to get someone to cease the water that was leaking at my business. He sent two men out to do the job. They finished the job several hours later and he sent me a text with the amount of the bill ($ 527.36) He then sent me a text telling me that if he didn't receive payment within 30 mins he was going to go out and tear out all of the work that had been done already. I had to step out of the restaurant to call him back. He was belligerent and rude and threatening. I paid the invoice via Pay Pal. I think having to pay $836.45 is crazy
