Brian C.I've used Steve and his guys for years, on multiple properties. Always prompt, and I'm always satisfied.
Don't listen to these other posts, this company is top notch!

I engaged Steve Rivers one year ago over a gas leak. He did a great job and charged decently. I thought I had built a good relation with him. So, today I had another water leak problem. Immediately I called him up. His wife Ann quoted 225$ for the first hour and $150 for the subsequent hours. I told her that this is a ridiculously high price. She said that she would talk to Mr. Rivers and that he would get back to me.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rivers simply asked the technician to leave. He didn't even care to call me to sort out the price.
I think this is holding the customer to ransom. The technician was then directed by Mr. Rivers to just leave. He did.
This is no way to treat a customer.
Stay away from these folks who want to just rip you off.
My AC decides to quit at 8pm on a Friday night during a heat wave. 100+ degrees. My husband called their service # & Steve Rivers came out to our house at 10:15pm, diagnosed the problem, didn't have the part (capacitor) with him that was needed, but said he would call around 8:30am the next day (Saturday). He was at my house at 9:15am and had my AC working by 9:30am. Nice courteous people. Would definitely use again.
Oh and my bill was $389. For a weekend callout last minute, I feel that was reasonable.
Once again I called on Rivers to fix my air conditioner/fan blower. We were in the middle of a heat wave, and my furnace blower went out--They were able to make an appointment in the afternoon. However, when Steve showed up, our power was out! He gave me his cell and said call him when it came back on and he would check it out.
Sure enough, the power came on at 6:30pm and at 7pm Steve was back at our house. He diagnosed the problem, and came back the next day with a part he had to order.
Great customer service, both times I have used them. I would recommend them to anyone for their services.
We have used Rivers for several plumbing needs in our 1960s ranch fixer-upper in Dublin. The repairs have ranged from replacing bad piping under the house to unclogging a drain, and projects like connecting a toilet. The work is always done quickly and as specified. I think we have used them 5 or so times.
They have always been courteous and punctual. They have an office administrator who answers the phone and arranges all appointments, and the system is very organized.
They are also an A+ rated member with the Better Business Bureau, which is why we originally used them.
Matthew P.I have never written a review of a business ever. However, considering what I have experienced, I feel compelled to let others know what I have been through. I have experienced an unusual water stain on my family room ceiling. On Friday Steve came over to evaluate the stains. On Saturday Steven came over with his assistant Joel whom appeared to do nothing but clean up after the work was performed. Steve cut one 12x12 and one 18x18 inch hole in my ceiling. He was unable to detect the source of the stain so he recommended leaving the holes open for further inspection. After about 1.5 hours work, Steve billed me for two hours work at $450. I was shocked and I told him so.
Steve took the time to explain that he makes $150/hour and that his clean up man made $75/hour which made their work worth $225/ hour and bringing my less than 2 hours to $450. I explained that I had a quote from another plumber to do the same project with larger holes for $130 total. Steve stated that he did not trust that plumber and that his charges were appropriate for the work performed. I insisted that I did not agree but Steve was incapable of negotiating anything less than his initial $450 charge.
Obviously my ceiling remains open and unfinished. I have had two other contractors evaluate the problem with one that has identifying clearly what the problem is. However, both contractors say that the job that Rivers Plumbing performed was worth less than $150 for the entire job.
In conclusion, I will never ever use Rivers Plumbing in the future and I suggest that if you do not want to pay three times what the project is worth, you should never use Rivers Plumbing either.
We have used Rivers Plumbing at least 6-8 times over the past 24 years we've lived in our San Ramon home. We have never been disappointed in their service yet. One time it was a clogged garbage disposal on Christmas Eve day that was fixed promptly to save the day. Several times they fixed plumbing pipe leaks for a reasonable fee. Another time a gas leak in a pipe that goes under our front lawn to the pool heater(nightmare scenario!!!). Most recently our water heater was replaced. Their consistently prompt and thorough service make Rivers my first call when we have a plumbing issue.
We had an underground water line leak and called Rivers Plumbing because they advertised electronic leak detection. They don't actually do it themselves but sent out a leak detector fellow they use often. $400 later the fellow reported that he couldn't pinpoint the leak. So Steve Rivers came out and mapped out a strategy for bypassing the ancient pipes and installing a new line to the house. He gave us an estimate, we said ""let's do it"" and he said he would email us a formal proposal. As of this writing, 23 days later, we've never heard from him. In the meantime, we contacted one of the highest yelp-rated plumbers, Valley Plumbing Service. Kevin was prompt, professional and did the job for 56% of the amount quoted by Steve Rivers.
Karl E.Several years ago we hired RIVERS to install a TRANE HVAC unit in our attic. 1. They NEVER supplied us with the proper city permit. 2. The gas line was improperly installed. 3. The gas line universal joint was LOOSE, and the inspector (while inspecting another project, found the improper RIVERS connection. 3. For an electrical connection, I just found that RIVERS improperly installed a wall circuit (did not use ROMEX or insulated wires).
Since the original installation was over 5 years ago, I would not expect RIVERS to honor any warranty, however, it is only AFTER other home owner projects that I am constantly finding MISTAKES that the RIVERS employees made.
STAY AWAY FROM RIVERS.

We use ""Rivers"" recently and were satisfied. Steve was professional and experienced. Prompt response and well organized.
By the way, we noticed there is one negative review posted earlier. We find the content interesting. That review wrote ""Readers may wish to read the one filtered review at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure why it was blocked"" . To help address this doubt, ""Yelp"" actually has ""FAQ"" section which answer this. According to ""Yelp"", this is something done by ""Yelp"". Actually, this is not controlled by business owners.
Readers can refer to ""Yelp"" FAQ or ask ""Yelp"" by going through ""Contact us"" on why "" Yelp"" filter or block some reviews. Here is ""Yelp""s response to filtering reviews based on ""FAQ"" :
""We (Yelp) do this in order to provide more trustworthy and useful content to our users and to help protect against fake reviews from malicious competitors and disgruntled former employees. Our CEO, Jeremy, wrote a blogpost to explain this further here. ""
Again, we were happy with the service because we received very prompt and professional services. He is experienced and exactly knew what we need. We would recommend to our friends.
