Allan Kincade was fantastic and deserved 5 stars, but I DO think price for hot water heater replacement was MUCH higher than it should have been. Allan was VERY professional. Hard worker. Knowledgeable. Never paused to take a break and left the work area cleaner than when he arrived. One frustration was that I knew hot water heater needed replacement. Rescue Rooters would NOT give me an approximate quote on price of installation, despite having been to Home Depot to compare products and choose what would be best for my needs. Interesting that they had printed presentation pack with prices that accompanied the tech. I did appreciate their Saturday service and quality of work done. I had contacted them late Friday afternoon through Home Depot to install a Home Depot hot water heater. While other local businesses couldn't schedule me before Monday, appointment was set for between 10 and Noon Saturday. While tech was delayed on another appointment, they kept me informed. From moment Allan arrived, he worked non-stop to remove old heater and install the new one. I don't think I saw him pause to take a break. If I used them again, I would be more cautious about price comparison though.

Our 13 year-old septic tank backed up into shower drains and toilets; no significant damage other than mopping up. RR showed up ""on-time.""

Services quoted after initial assessment: (i) Use camera line to locate tank in yard, (ii) dig up tank & line(s), (iii) replace inlet line and inlet ""T"" that were damaged by tree roots, (iv) install a new septic tank riser (for future access), (v) power flush lines and (vi) return work area to original state. Total price = $6,300.00.

Pricing was ""very high."" After reviewing my security cameras for the days worked, the total man-hours expended on the job were 29 hours. After assuming a ""generous"" $1,500 for materials (not likely) and allowing an additional 10 hours for project management and parts acquisition, the labor equates to $123.08 per hour. Over-priced, if you ask me! Regardless, exorbitant margins for RR.

The final invoice lacked specificity regarding line item pricing. There was no breakdown of parts and labor. A lump sum method of invoicing avoids customer scrutiny.

Additional clean-up work was required after being told the job was complete and ready for sign-off.

Josh (project lead) was courteous, professional, responsive and respectful.

Here is the problem. Rescue Rooter uses a short snake 75 feet long which only about 65 feet goes into the drain line. The diameter of the snake is small and the blades are small. It is easier and faster for the serviceman to use but the roots and stuff it is pushing forward remains in the line. If your sewer line is longer than 65 feet do not use Rooter Rescue. They will try to sell you a pressure wash that goes further. There are many rooter companies that use longer snakes. Check them out before hiring Rescue Rooter.

ROBBERS!!

My water heater broke over the weekend and I called Rescue Rooters to come and take a look at it. They totally tried to take advantage of us saying that the water heater is broken and needed to be replaced, also it was not up to code so we needed to add all of these things. At the end the plumber quoted as at $1900 for the water heater and $3000 if we wanted to add a water softener. I almost fainted when I heard that price, I told them that I wanted to get a second opinion. I called Water Heaters Only in Riverside and asked them how much it would be to replace a water heater and make it up to code. They told me they would do it for $1100!!

The best part is when Water Heaters Only looked at my water heater, the only thing that needed to be replaced was a part for the pilot which only cost me $65. I was infuriated at the cost of how much I was going to pay Rescue Rooter.

DON'T GO WITH THESE GUYS, THEY ARE DISHONEST AND WILL ROB YOUR MONEY!

Our 10 year old water heater started leaking this morning so we called Home Depot to get a quote to get a new one installed. The price of the water heater was reasonable enough but I was blown away when their plumbing contractor arrived on the scene to give me a quote on labor and materials. Prior to HD's contractor visit, I called a couple of plumbers around town and was given a labor quote that ran $500 - $600.

Now get this. Rescue Rooter is the local Home Depot's one and only plumbing contractor. The heating unit itself cost just a little over $500. The labor and materials cost estimate was exactly $1,113, more than twice the cost of the water heater. It should be noted that in addition to the exorbitant labor cost, Home Depot requires that ALL materials be replaced including in our instance an adjustable the earthquake strap which was installed just a year ago.

The experience only reaffirms what my daughter experienced when she got a faucet repaired and garbage disposal replaced two months ago. She paid $180 in labor costs for each job (a total of $360) which occurred in the same kitchen at the same hour on the same day.

Obviously, while Home Depot doesn't do the work to install anything, the management there thinks that the company should receive the same compensation the plumbers receive doing the actual work.

Needless to say, I won't even consider ordering any work to be done through Home Depot ever again and you would be well advised to look elsewhere as well.

One might read this review and wonder, ""Why on earth would you give 3 stars after the expeience you had?"" I want to be clear - the 3 stars are ONLY for Jonathan and his exceptional customer service. Here is how the day started: I called Rescue Rooters after completing a Google search to schedule a simple kitchen drain clog. They have an ad in BIG BOLD LETTERING offering a drain clean for $88. I think to myself, 'That seems like a reasonable price, I'm going to give them a call.'

Upon scheduling the work, the representative asked if I had an ""accessible clean out"". I told her it was right under my sink. She essentially said everything sounded great and they would give me a phone call and let me know when he was on his way. So far, things seem great.

THEN, the first technician showed up. He proceeded to explain that he might have to go through the cleanout or possibly down the main drain and after he hemmed and hawed, told me the job will cost $189. Somewhat shocked, I laughed and explained i had called for the $88 single drain cleanout special. He became quite frustrated and was dismissive about his dispatchers who failed to tell him the work order was an $88 single drain cleanout. You see, I already understood how plumbing contractors work and they're similar to lots of other contractors like cable contractors. They get paid via commission (or credits or points) for the type of job they do. The higher the cost to the customer the more commission they will make. It was immediately evident the first technician was frustrated he responded to my home for an $88 job. I later learned he has no say on what jobs he responds to, thus it makes sense he was frustrated that the job would cost so little because that simply meant he made less. He seemed to fixate on the fact that he would also have to lay some covering down on the floor and reemphasized that's what makes my clean out inaccessible. Nowhere on their website is the term ""accessible cleanout"" defined. As a lay person, from where I stood, my clean out was clearly accessible to me. I have snaked the kitchen drain before and it was far from inaccessible, even for a novice plumber like me. I believed inaccessible meant under the ground requiring trenching or within a place that was ""not accessible."" This technician proceeded to tell me, ""You are just haggling over prices, you either want the work done or you don't."" To which I responded ""I don't want your work today."" SEE YA!!

I immediately called the service center and they expressed disappointment in their technician and apologized profusely. They offered to send a second technician out (Jonathan) and he responded approximately one hour later. Jonathan explained some of the challenges with responding to work orders where the call centers offer a service for a certain price that the plumber cannot meet. But I explained to Jonathan that despite the first technicians rude, abrupt and self-serving demeanor it WAS necessary for me to haggle over the price because the price jumped $100 for no reason whatsoever. I further explained to Jonathan using this analogy, ""If I told you I would pay you $4,000 for a month's work and at the end of that month only gave you $2,000, then responded, after you complained about your salary, that you were simply haggling over your salary, you would think I was an idiot.

Two major problems here: BAIT AND SWITCH - the company puts the ad out there to get a plumber into your home, then the plumber can upsell like crazy or simply say that a technicality prevents your clean out from being ""accessible."" Here's an idea, define what ""accessible clean-out"" means. It would have saved EVERYONE in the long run. That being said, Jonathan did an outstanding job explaining that technically, our sink did not have an accessible clean out because the sink was not situated against a wall where they could access the clean out from the outside. So, for anyone who has read this incredibly lengthy review let me explain to you what an accessible clean out is: It is a clean out that you can ONLY access from the outside. Therefore if you have an island or a peninsula you do not qualify for the $88 service. Now, how hard would that be to put that caveat in their online ad. I would have immediately gone with another Plumbing Company.

The second major issue was the first technician should have done what Jonathan did; represent the company he works for with class, grace and professionalism. Instead he decided to be incredibly rude in MY FAMILY'S home AFTER arriving to our home an hour late, Without apology for the inconvenience of his delay. So again, you ask, why 3 stars? Because Jonathan was the consummate professional and met our family's needs without complaint and took the time to explain some of the technical aspects that the company on its website failed to do.

Called for plumbing approximately 4:30pm yesterday. Was told to expect a call an hour for plumber to be on the way. In the meantime there's toillet water running out of the toilet evert time the washing machine is on. :(

Ray showed up around 7:40pm. Removed the toilet ,used a ""snake"" charged $248.00. He was nice and courteous, Said problem was fixed. He left approximately 8:30pm. 20 hrs later same over flow ,water every where. Called company back, guess what they can't send anyone til the morning. Shame on you Rescue Rooter. Hopefully they will honor this 3 day contract. I want our $248.00 back, because they have not solved or fixed the plumbing situation.

Completely incompetent. If you have any plumbing issues go elsewhere. Promised one thing over the phone, we waited way past the time they told us they'd arrive, then told us something completely different AND more expensive once they actually got here. Not to mention really terrible customer service...not friendly at all. After arriving 2 hours after they said they were already on the way, the dude didn't even get out of his car until we approached him! You'd THINK for someone who was already late he'd be in some kind of rush, but nope. Pathetic. Seriously, learn to do your job.

Not worth the trouble, go to someone who actually knows what they're doing and sticks to their word.

Edit: Just spoke to a local plumber and found out that the price Rescue Rooters gave us is more than TWICE what he offered us. Believe all the bad reviews on here people, these guys are a RIPOFF. This place shouldn't even be in business anymore. And if you happen to be in Corona, use Tony's Plumbing and Rooter instead! :)

We called Rescue Rooter to redo all the plumbing in the house. We were planning on only doing a few things at a time. But the sales manager Brian talks us into doing it all at once through the Hero Program. While they did not do everything that Brian Promised in his Sales Pitch. They still did a Good Job! They had a lot of work to do! Anthony Such did most of the main work, with some helpers on some days. That was about 7 days of work. After they had replaced all the plumbing above the floor and patched some in the ceiling, Replaced two toilets, three sinks and the fixtures for the bath tub and shower. Also put in a tankless water heater. The drains for the tub and shower were not draining and needed to be dug out and replaced. Also they wanted to add a better Stint to the drain access out front. Even though it was not covered in the Scope of Work we had signed. Brian Kept his Promise not to charge us More for any work that they did not know about. We had to wait about a week, but Tomas Noel did come back and do the work. Which was another two days of work. Now everything works good in the house! All the workers were courteous and Worked hard! Over all we are Happy with their work.
