Rob replaced our heating system including our central air after we decided to convert to gas. Without question he is the most diligent and conscientious tradesman that I met and the quality of his work is without question. If your looking for a true professional and owner/operator Robs your man.
Dan C.I needed a plumber to assist my elderly aunt and I live out of town in NJ. Rob came to the rescue, handled the situation for me like the pro that he is, and put our minds and troubles at ease. He is truly old school and knows the value of going the extra mile to help someone. I had credit card trouble and he graciously allowed me to pay via western union at the local stop and shop. He even drop shipped a package for me at the post office as well since I live out of town. Now that is what I call old school!!!
Rob is super knowledgeable about his stuff. He always explains what he did and what's the best solutions to the issues. On top of that, he's very responsive and punctual which is the most important to me!
james q.Rob, the owner picked up and listened to my problem first of all. Secondly, he discussed all the simple things that could've been the cause. Then, after ruling out anything easy to fix he came over, within the day and repaired what he had previously diagnosed as the issue and was spot on. Luckily for me he included the diagnosis with the overall charge. I appreciate his understanding and commitment to getting to the bottom of whats wrong. I would highly recommend Riggs Mechanical for anything big or small. I've seen his larger installations and renovations and they are professional without a doubt, take a look for yourself. The owner and his crew are committed to making your project or emergency top priority whenever they can. It felt as if I had a friend in my corner! Thanks!
Rob Riggs to the rescue AGAIN! Last January he replaced my heat system right before a deep cold spell. Last night I came home and discovered my hot water heater let go. Water everywhere. He came over in the storm, and shut the hot water off. He returned today in the ongoing snow storm as promised with a new hot water heater. Old one removed, and new one installed. I cannot say enough good things. Hot water heater replaced! He is fast, reliable, responsive, and reasonable.
Rob installed a new boiler in my home this fall. He showed up on time and the job was completed when he stated. Very happy with the work he did, and we will use him again. We were so happy with the work that we have referred several people to him.
When R. Riggs said he could renovate our only bathroom we unfortunately hired him based on our one previous experience. (He repaired a leak.)
This job expected to last 2-3 weeks in July continued in an agonizing manner until September 1, 2012.
His first major blunder was attempting to level the floor. His poor skills resulted in an uneven surface with scattered craters. He slipped and fell, tearing the shower curtain down trailing cement onto the carpet and splattering it on a hall closet and wall. The next day he had the tile guys come and do the job correctly.
The only item he was asked to purchase was the window. The only style he was asked not to purchase is the one he got. Initially we attempted to grin and bear it but realized we would not be happy with a double casement window. We ordered a double hung window which took two weeks for delivery but did not hold up progress . His work habits accomplished that. He was unable to come at the time he told us although he called us his top priority. His solution for this was to say he would be here between 9-12pm daily. And of course he left for lunch soon after. Three to four hours a day (or less) was frequently his work day. Excuses ranged from a forgotten appointment, to an emergency and buying supplies. He said It took him 5 tries to get the right size nozzle!
On a Sunday night he called to say the tile guys were coming the next day to install the tile. He needed to know the design that was chosen. He was told horizontal. As communication was not found to be his strong point the tile guy was given different instructions. We were able to work it our and they did a good job. Of course, that would have been the day to give the tile guys the floating shelf that was to be inserted in the recessed area in the wall. But, not knowing what it was, he neglected to. This lead to his inept attempt at inserting it. Hence, the tile guys came back and rescued him again.
We did not expect a plumber to have such difficulty installing a shower, toilet, or tub spout. But he did! He installed the American Standard Cadet 3 toilet without following the instructions given by the manufacturer. He broke the original parts and he used his own. We asked for the broken pieces to show to the store but he said they were somewhere in his truck and could not. He said this product was a piece of junk and he couldn't guarantee it. He saved the box so it could be returned. He suggested we put the old toilet back!
The tub spout turned out to be another fiasco. He claimed it came with the wrong directions ( which he thought he left at his house and could not locate). This lead to him asking for a spout he was familiar with. The reputable store provided the spout he requested but told us that it might not work with the rest if the shower system. By the way, while we were running to the store for the item he wanted, he went to lunch. Upon his return it was strongly suggested that he use the equipment originally purchased. While he was figuring it out a pipe broke flooding a closet. His response was, it will dry in half an hour. There was a fan blowing continuously for three days.
For weeks he left a build up of debris in every room, overflowing into the front yard. The day he was told to discard it he left the house without it and needed to be called back.
We were extremely happy to see the last of him September 1. But problems continue. When we had the furnace cleaned the oilman informed us that a pipe Riggs installed will have to be cut if they have to do work. Then our new plumber discovered the pipes under the new sink were not tightened properly and had been leaking for quite a while in the new vanity.
And I could go on and on... One star represents worst possible person for the job!
