I have to take a moment to sing the praises of this excellent company. It's not often that you encounter someone in the trades that has the level of honesty, integrity and professionalism that Rick from Rick's plumbing has. In this time of contractors bilking as much as they can get away with for each job, it is refreshing to see a company that has a heart and truly cares about helping their customer. This is a smart way of doing business, that considers the long view rather than the fast buck. As a result, I am certain this business will thrive with repeat customers for years to come. The owner Rick has a strong sense of community with a sincere commitment to helping people in need of plumbing services quickly and efficiently without charging exorbitant rates. In addition his staff is just as amazing. They are respectful, pleasant and kind which makes it a comfortable experience having them in your home. I had a mysterious leak in my upstairs shower that was dripping through the ceiling. I had multiple service calls from other companies and no one could figure out the cause. I had been given estimates as high as 10k to completely tear out the shower, replace the shower pan and re tile. Gary, one of Ricks employees came out and had the patience and determination to spend time doing multiple tests. He even let me take a shower while he watched the ceiling for leaks. After running multiple tests he finally pin pointed the problem which ended up being easily remedied. Alvictor was also extremely helpful in getting this job done at a very minimal cost. I could have easily been taken advantage of in this situation but Rick's plumbing genuinely cared that I had the assistance I needed to keep my home in good repair. I have three tenants in my home that need to share that shower and I had no idea what I was going to do if I continued to have problems with this mysterious leak. I was very stressed about the possibility of loosing tenants and much needed income over all this. In addition to the shower problem my water heater conked out on me. I contacted Rick, in the morning and by that afternoon, I had a new water heater installed! He said "" you gotta have hot water!"". Rick's plumbing most definitely came to the rescue on both occasions. Great people that truly care about their customers and servicing their community. I highly recommend them for both big and small jobs.

I had Rick and his crew over earlier this year for a leaking copper line in my garage. Rick gave me a very great price I could not pass on. Him and his crew completed the work in a very timely manner and the work looked much better than the work that was completed by another plumber years back. Highly recommend calling Rick for an plumbing needs!

Got an appointment within 24 hours. Team (two very polite young men) came on time, worked very hard, did not upsell. I have a very old house and the plumbing is kind of hinky but they fixed everything, even though it required them going to a hardware store to find appropriate fixtures because of the age of the set-up. Very fair rates. Professional services. I will definitely call them again.

Phew! These guys came within an hour to remedy an unfortunate incident that left me without plumbing of any sort. It was not an easy fix. They snaked the main line clean out, went from the roof through the house to the side sewer and totally removed and reinstalled my toilet. They stuck to the price they quoted me even though the process was probably 90 more minutes than I thought it would be.
It literally brought tears to my eyes! They were so thorough. No zip through and back. They did each line at least twice and once they felt satisfied with the repair, they tested the lines by dropping tissue from the beginning and watching for it to pass by the clean out next to the sidewalk.
Both plumbers were professional but not stiff, personable and cleaned up after themselves. I had just had my floors done and they were careful not to mar them with their massive, get 'er done, equipment. Despite the fact that they were both wearing black pants, they let my gigantic dog shed all over them whilst she demanded adoration. They also prevented my smaller, escape artist dog from exploring the great out of doors by being careful to close the doors as they went inside and out.
Love these guys. Still, hope I don't have to see them again anytime soon.

This guys finally shows up, doesn't fix the problem, takes your money, then never calls back when u call him with an issue. If zero stars was an option, I would choose that.

Our kitchen sink was clogged. We made it worse by trying to fix it. Called on a holiday, was seen that afternoon by Andre and Vernon. They assessed the situation, let me choose the route best for us, picked up extra necessary materials and came back and got to work. These technicians were knowledgeable, gracious, and understanding. Furthermore, they gave me lessons about what to do the next time it happens So the plumber may not be necessary. Great job guys!

Yesterday our sewage pipe backed up and it rose up into our bath tub! We have never experienced anything like this so there was a sense of panic. It was absolutely disgusting! Rick was recommended to me by a friend who has seen his work. I was concerned this was going to be a huge mess. We just got our floors and carpets replaced. Rick sent his team. Two very professional, super re-assuring, hella nice dudes! I overheard them talk while assessing the issue and came up with a game plan. They were able to snake the pipe from outside, no mess inside, and cleaned the tub after it drained! Thank you. I highly recommend and will never call any one else when we have another s*****y situation! Rick's Plumbing is the s*** yo!!!

I gave Rick 1 star as when I first called him on Tuesday he came when he said he would. He cleaned out the sewer pipe so i could use the kitchen sink. I had a broken pipe outside that needed to be replaced. He told me what he had to do and would be back on Thursday for sure. He not only didn't show up as promised but never responded to my phone calls or texts. I've never heard from him. I finally called another plumber who gave superb service.

One of our two toilets (the only one my husband who is in a wheelchair could use) started leaking at the base. Tried another plumber who couldn't come out until September, asked him for a referral and he gave me Rick's phone number. I called and Rick answered. I explained the situation and Rick came over right after finishing another job. He and his technician were polite, professional and friendly. They quoted the cost upfront, which was reasonable, and did the work quickly. Our toilet is as good as new, if not better as they put in a better service line and bolts. I would highly recommend Rock's Plumbing to anyone.

Warning.

I typically only review on Yelp to share great experiences. Sadly, I have to hold Rick and his team accountable for the terrible quality of work and service they provided me. I had to get a real plumber to redo much of the work and pass city inspection.

Let's start with the failed Alameda City inspection. While all my other contractors (two electricians, one gerneral contractor) were present at the inspection, Rick was chasing other dollars - he didn't show up. When I called asked him to come and fix the leak so it could pass, he refused. All my other contractors had to leave and come back after the issue was fixed - day wasted. (I asked Rick not to come back.)

I should have known better when he stopped communicating with me early on. In the run-up to the job, he only answered my call when I disguised my number. This told me that he only cares about one thing - new business.

He and his team of four young apprentices did a hatchet job on the exterior only my house while installing an on-demand heater unit.
The work one of his team didn't meet any kind of aesthetic standard you'd expect from professionals (see pictures). Rick saw this and suggested he improve the way it looked. His apprentice snapped back at Rick for telling him it was fine before walking off for a cigarette. The whole dramatic exchange happened in front of me. I couldn't believe it, but I was intrigued to see how Rick would handle it, figuring he would redo it himself. He never did.

I hate leaving bad reviews. I do. But I was vulnerable, not knowing what to expect and I feel like I made a huge mistake in hiring him and his team. I also feel obliged to share this so you can prevent yourself from having the same experience.
