I like to support local businesses rather than the big conglomerate companies, so I was hoping to work with Richfield Plumbing. When Mike came out to my home last Friday to give me an estimate, he said he understood what I needed done - basically pull a permit, remodel an existing basement bathroom...move a shower with a legal drain/venting and replace the toilet and sink/vanity. I asked for an estimate excluding fixtures - I would supply those. I got estimates from 3 other plumbers and they all gave me various totals. When I received his ""estimate"" all that was included was his hourly rate and nothing else...no total and no hours - so I called him and he had no reasonable explanation and didn't respond to my email asking for a total. I told him I need a total so I can compare bids..hello!?...crickets. Why would he waste the time to come out to estimate and then only give me his hourly rate? He could have just given me that over the phone. Such a disappointment.

A plumber from this company came to my condo last week, and repaired a whole list of issues in a very short time. The plumber who showed up was knowledgeable, talented, very professional, and brought all of the tools and parts needed to complete all of the repairs. I am very impressed with this company. I recommend this contractor to everyone. It is very difficult to find quality work at reasonable cost nowadays. This company is one of those rare finds. The bill came in lower than expected as well, so I am very pleased, and will use this company again. Another one of their plumbers was at my sister-in-law's place about a month ago. The work done at her place was also exemplary, fast, and very professionally completed. These guys really know their stuff, and they arrive prepared. Thank you Richfield Plumbing!

I honestly wish I could give zero stars. The guy basically came in to tell me my toilet needed to be replaced and promised to let me know when it can be done. Never heard from them again. Being a good citizen I asked that minimally they should send me a bill. I got billed for $200 dollars. The bill does not even have the decency of explaining what was done or for how many minutes did the guy stay. I would recommend that people never work for this company again. It's the worst experience I've had.

Water heater sprang a small leak late Wednesday night. Spent Thursday chasing down a plumbing company. Richfield Plumbing was the only company able to come out before the following week. Friday morning at 8:30 Don arrived. He was superb: he kept the furnace room area clean, neat and most importantly - DRY! Three hours later, all was complete and we had hot water in the faucets again ... and not on the furnace room floor!

Call ANYWHERE else!! I'd rather pay cash to the shadiest looking plumber on Craigslist. Took their office 6 months to send me an initial bill. A tech came to my home in September 2018 and I was not billed until March 2019. My husband and I called 3 times for an explanation on our bill and waited 2 entire billing periods for an explanation from the owner. Once a payment plan was FINALLY agreed upon, I paid within 20 days. They had already sent me to collections!!!! This place is a money hungry joke. I spoke to 3 people - only 1 was any type of apologetic for the multiple delays in clearing this up. So much for supporting local business.

The worst experience with a plumbing company I've ever had. Not only did they charge $168 per hour (including drive time) they didn't fix my issue and when I refused to pay they sent me to collection. Choose any plumbing company but Richfield plumbing. Steer clear. They should be ashamed.

Terrible service and pricing. They called almost an hour after they were supposed to arrive to let me know they wouldn't be able to make the schedule time. Had to reschedule. When they finally showed up and completed the task I was surprised to learn (when I received their invoice) they were charging $168/hr. for their service. The going rate in Mpls. is usually around $70 - $120 and hour for the same type of work. Buyer beware - be sure to get an upfront quote from them before agreeing to hire them. I've learned my lesson.

Richfield plumbing came out to give me a free quote on venting two sinks and certifying the plumbing with the city. After receiving an ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS quote, I said no thanks. A few months later and I have a bill for several hundred dollars for that ""free quote"". Complete crap. I'm calling the city to complain about this too. The good news is that after explaining this to the collection company where they sent the bill, the collection company laughed and said they'd ""take care of it"". Although they didn't say it, I got the impression this has happened before.

They need an Estimator available a full day, all week. I have used Richfield Plumbing in the past (previous home), and was very happy with them. Contacted them last week via their website and then followed up with a call to explain a few items too complicated to try to explain in the little web form. Nice gal told me their Estimator would need to talk to me, he's out, will be back next week. So I wait for a call.

Got an email Tuesday *afternoon* telling me that their Estimator can be called 6:30-11:30am Monday through Wednesday. Again, this was Tuesday AFTERNOON. So basically, gave me one morning to call, and it's my busiest morning this week. So now I can't talk to the guy until next week?! I originally contacted them LAST week because I need the work done THIS week.

Well it's Thursday. I gotta go with someone else 'cuz I need to talk to someone about it today, and get it scheduled ASAP. Bummed and irritated.

Plumbing work completed was actually great work. The company responds fairly well to inquiries and office staff seem very professional and competent.
Why the 1 star rating, then?
Even though most everything was great, would most of you think the most important part of a plumbing job is price? I would. I mean, reputable businesses should put forth good work at a reasonable price.
Getting a bill for nearly double what the quote was is a little shocking. It might have been less shocking if there was some unforeseen circumstance, like: extra labor, a problem or extreme difficulty.
2 hour plumbing job that required no specialized equipment, no moving of parts or plumbing and as simple as seating a toilet on a flange with an intact, but slightly damaged lead pipe at the top. $350 turned into nearly $700 for no apparent reason.
Their excuse was that the toilet sat on a lead pipe, but nothing about the job changed whatsoever. The seat flange was replaced and sat perfectly on the existing pipe (which we discussed removing). No repair of parts, no specialized equipment, no need to reschedule, no moving anything.
Start here for your plumbing needs. They will definitely get the job done, but you will be ""?"" the cost.
